Deuteronomy 2
1 And we turned and we set out the wilderness towards [the] way of [the] sea of reed[s] just as he had spoken Yahweh to me and we went around [the] hill country of Seir days many.
“Rồi chúng ta quay lại, đi vào hoang mạc hướng về Biển Đỏ như Chúa Hằng Hữu đã bảo tôi, chúng ta phải đi vòng quanh vùng Núi Sê-i-rơ trong một thời gian rất lâu.
2 And he said Yahweh to me saying.
Một hôm, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo tôi:
3 [is] enough For you going round the hill country this turn yourselves north-ward.
‘Con cho dân biết là họ đi quanh vùng này đủ rồi; bây giờ hãy chuyển lên hướng bắc.
4 And the people command saying you [are] about to pass in [the] territory of relatives your [the] descendants of Esau who dwell in Seir so they may be afraid from you and you will take heed exceedingly.
Con hãy truyền lệnh này cho dân chúng: “Các ngươi sắp đi qua lãnh thổ của một nước anh em. Dân nước này là con cháu Ê-sau, sinh sống ở Sê-i-rơ, và họ sẽ sợ các ngươi, nhưng phải thận trọng,
5 May not you engage in strife with them for not I will give to you any of land their up to a treading place of [the] sole of a foot for a possession to Esau I have given [the] hill country of Seir.
không được gây hấn với họ. Ta sẽ không cho các ngươi đất của họ, dù một mảnh lọt bàn chân cũng không, vì Ta đã cho Ê-sau vùng Núi Sê-i-rơ này.
6 Food you will buy from with them for silver and you will eat and also water you will buy from with them for silver and you will drink.
Khi cần thức ăn, nước uống, các ngươi phải mua của họ và trả tiền hẳn hoi.
7 For Yahweh God your he has blessed you in all [the] work of hand your he has known walking you the wilderness great this this - forty year[s] Yahweh God your [has been] with you not you have lacked anything.
Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời đã ban phước cho mọi công việc của các ngươi, trong suốt bốn mươi năm lang thang trong hoang mạc mênh mông, Ngài vẫn ở với các ngươi, không để cho thiếu thốn gì cả.”’
8 And we passed away from with relatives our [the] descendants of Esau who were dwelling in Seir from [the] way of the desert plain from Elath and from Ezion Geber. And we turned and we passed along [the] way of [the] wilderness of Moab.
Vậy, chúng ta đi qua đất của anh em mình, là con cháu Ê-sau ở Sê-i-rơ, theo đường cái A-ra-ba từ Ê-lát, và từ Ê-xi-ôn Ghê-be. Vậy chúng ta rẽ lên hướng hoang mạc Mô-áp,
9 And he said Yahweh to me to you may provoke Moab and may not you engage in strife with them battle for not I will give to you any of land his a possession for to [the] descendants of Lot I have given Ar a possession.
Chúa Hằng Hữu cảnh báo chúng ta: ‘Đừng gây hấn với người Mô-áp. Ta không cho các ngươi đất của họ, vì Ta đã cho con cháu của Lót vùng A-rơ này.’”
10 The Emites before they dwelt in it a people great and numerous and lofty like the Anakites.
(Trước kia người Ê-mim ở trong vùng ấy, họ là một giống dân hùng mạnh, đông đúc, cao lớn như người A-na-kim.
11 Rephaites they were regarded also they like the Anakites and the Moabites they called them Emites.
Cũng như người A-na-kim, họ được gọi là Rê-pha-im, nhưng người Mô-áp gọi họ là Ê-mim.
12 And in Seir they dwelt the Horites before and [the] descendants of Esau they dispossessed them and they destroyed them from before them and they dwelt in place of them just as it did Israel to [the] land of possession its which he gave Yahweh to them.
Còn Sê-i-rơ trước kia là đất của người Hô-rít, về sau con cháu Ê-sau đến diệt người, chiếm đất. Đó cũng là điều Ít-ra-ên sắp làm cho vùng đất Chúa Hằng Hữu cho họ.)
13 Now arise and pass over yourselves [the] wadi of Zered and we passed over [the] wadi of Zered.
Môi-se tiếp: “Bây giờ Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo chúng ta: ‘Hãy đứng dậy. Đi qua Suối Xê-rết.’ Vậy, chúng ta băng suối theo lệnh Chúa.
14 And the days which we walked - from Kadesh Barnea until that we passed over [the] wadi of Zered [were] thirty and eight year[s] until was finished all the generation [the] men of war from [the] midst of the camp just as he had sworn Yahweh to them.
Từ ngày rời Ca-đe Ba-nê-a cho đến lúc băng Suối Xê-rết, tính đúng ba mươi tám năm! Trong thời gian này, Chúa Hằng Hữu ra tay tiêu diệt hết thế hệ phạm tội ở Ca-đê Ba-nê-a, từ lứa tuổi đầu quân trở lên, như lời Ngài đã thề.
15 And also [the] hand of Yahweh it was on them to disturb them from [the] midst of the camp until were finished they.
Tay Chúa Hằng Hữu chống lại họ cho đến khi Ngài loại bỏ tất cả những người này.
16 And it was just when they had finished all [the] men of war to die from [the] midst of the people.
Vậy, khi thế hệ ấy qua rồi,
17 And he spoke Yahweh to me saying.
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán cùng tôi:
18 You [are] about to pass over this day [the] border of Moab Ar.
‘Hôm nay, các ngươi sẽ đi qua biên giới Mô-áp ở vùng A-rơ.
19 And you will draw near in front of [the] people of Ammon may not you provoke them and may not you engage in strife with them for not I will give any of [the] land of [the] people of Ammon to you a possession for to [the] descendants of Lot I have given it a possession.
Và khi đến gần đất của con cháu Am-môn, các ngươi không được gây hấn, vì Ta sẽ không cho các ngươi đất của họ. Ta đã cho con cháu của Lót đất ấy.’”
20 [the] land of [the] Rephaites It was regarded also it [the] Rephaites they dwelt in it before and the Ammonites they called them Zamzummites.
(Đất này trước kia thuộc người Rê-pha-im, là một giống dân hùng mạnh, đông đúc, cao lớn như người A-na-kim; riêng người Am-môn gọi họ là Xam-xu-mim.
21 A people great and numerous and lofty like the Anakites and he destroyed them Yahweh from before them and they dispossessed them and they dwelt in place of them.
Họ là một dân lớn, đông, cao to như người A-na-kim. Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu diệt người Rê-pha-im, và người Am-môn chiếm chỗ của họ.
22 Just as he had done for [the] descendants of Esau who were dwelling in Seir whom he destroyed the Horite[s] from before them and they dispossessed them and they have dwelt in place of them until the day this.
Đó cũng là điều Chúa làm để giúp con cháu Ê-sau, khi Ngài diệt người Hô-rít, cho người Ê-đôm đất Sê-i-rơ.
23 And the Avvites who were dwelling in villages to Gaza [the] Caphtorites who came forth from Caphtor they destroyed them and they dwelt in place of them.
Một trường hợp tương tự khác là người A-vim cư ngụ trong các làng mạc xa xôi đến tận Ga-xa bị người ở Cáp-tô-rim đến tiêu diệt, chiếm đất.)
24 Arise set out and pass over [the] wadi of Arnon see I give in hand your Sihon [the] king of Heshbon the Amorite and land his begin take possession of [it] and engage in strife with him battle.
Môi-se nói tiếp: “Rồi Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: ‘Bây giờ các ngươi lên đường, băng Sông Ạt-nôn, vào đất của Si-hôn, người A-mô-rít, vua Hết-bôn, đánh phá và chiếm cứ đất đai!
25 The day this I will begin to put dread your and fear your on [the] face of the peoples under all the heavens who they will hear! report your and they will tremble and they will be in anguish because of you.
Từ hôm nay, Ta làm cho muôn dân hãi hùng khi nghe nói về các ngươi, run rẩy khi đứng trước các ngươi.’”
26 And I sent messengers from [the] wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon [the] king of Heshbon words of peace saying.
Môi-se nói tiếp: “Từ hoang mạc Kê-đê-mốt, tôi sai sứ giả đến gặp Si-hôn, vua Hết-bôn, để bàn chuyện hòa bình:
27 Let me pass in land your on the road on the road I will go not I will turn aside right [hand] and left [hand].
‘Xin cho chúng tôi đi qua đất vua. Chúng tôi chỉ xin đi trên đường cái, không rẽ ngang rẽ dọc.
28 Food for silver you will sell me and I will eat and water for silver you will give to me and I will drink only let me pass through on feet my.
Chúng tôi sẽ mua thức ăn nước uống, trả tiền sòng phẳng. Chỉ xin cho chúng tôi mượn đường đi qua,
29 Just as they did for me [the] descendants of Esau who dwell in Seir and the Moabites who dwell in Ar until that I will pass over the Jordan into the land which Yahweh God our [is] about to give to us.
cũng như con cháu Ê-sau ở Sê-i-rơ và người Mô-áp ở A-rơ đã giúp chúng tôi. Vì chúng tôi đang đi trên đường vào đất Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng tôi cho chúng tôi, bên kia sông Giô-đan.’
30 And not he was willing Sihon [the] king of Heshbon to let pass us in him for he had made stubborn Yahweh God your spirit his and he had made obstinate heart his so as to give him in hand your as the day this.
Nhưng Vua Si-hôn của Hết-bôn từ chối, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của chúng ta, đã làm cho vua ấy trở nên ương ngạnh, để giao họ cho chúng ta trừng phạt. Đó là việc đã xảy ra.
31 And he said Yahweh to me see I have begun to deliver up before you Sihon and land his begin take possession to take possession of land his.
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo tôi: ‘Ta đã nộp Vua Si-hôn và đất của vua vào tay con. Hãy tấn công và chiếm lấy đi đất.’
32 And he came forth Sihon to meet us he and all people his for battle Jahaz towards.
Vua Si-hôn đem toàn lực ra giao chiến tại Gia-hát.
33 And he delivered up him Yahweh God our before us and we struck down him and (sons his *Q(K)*) and all people his.
Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta, nạp họ cho chúng ta, cha con Si-hôn và toàn lực lượng của vua ấy bị đánh bại.
34 And we captured all cities his at the time that and we totally destroyed every city of men and the women and the little one[s] not we spared a survivor.
Chúng ta xâm chiếm mọi thành của họ, giết cả nam phụ lão ấu.
35 Only the livestock we plundered for ourselves and [the] booty of the cities which we had captured.
Chỉ giữ lại bầy gia súc và các chiến lợi phẩm đoạt được.
36 From Aroer which [is] on [the] edge of [the] wadi of Arnon and the city which [is] in the wadi and to Gilead not it was a town which it was [too] high for us every one he delivered up Yahweh God our before us.
Vậy từ A-rô-e, một thành ở bên bờ Khe Ạt-nôn, cho đến Ga-la-át, một thành trong thung lũng, chẳng có thành nào là kiên cố quá cho chúng ta cả, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta, đã nạp tất cả vào tay chúng ta.
37 Only to [the] land of [the] people of Ammon not you drew near all [the] side of [the] wadi of Jabbok and [the] cities of the hill country and all that he had commanded Yahweh God our.
Tuy nhiên, theo lệnh Chúa, chúng ta không động đến đất của người Am-môn ở dọc mé Sông Gia-bốc, các thành ở trên núi và những nơi nào Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta đã cấm.”
