Deuteronomy 17
1 Not you will sacrifice to Yahweh God your an ox and a sheep which it will be in it a blemish any thing bad for [is] [the] abomination of Yahweh God your that.
Gij moogt Jahweh, uw God, geen rund of schaap offeren, dat een gebrek heeft, of waaraan iets scheelt, want dit is een gruwel voor Jahweh, uw God.
2 If he will be found in midst your in one of gates your which Yahweh God your [is] about to give to you a man or a woman who he will do the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh God your by transgressing covenant his.
Wanneer in een van uw steden, die Jahweh, uw God, u zal geven, onder u een man of een vrouw wordt gevonden, die kwaad doet in de ogen van Jahweh, uw God, en zijn Verbond overtreedt,
3 And he has gone and he has served gods other and he has bowed down to them and to the sun - or to the moon or to all [the] host of the heavens which not I have commanded.
die vreemde goden gaat dienen en aanbidden, zon, maan of heel het heir des hemels, wat ik u verboden heb,
4 And it will be told to you and you will hear and you will investigate thoroughly and there! truth [is] certain the matter it has been done the abomination this in Israel.
dan moet ge, zodra ge bericht ervan krijgt, een zorgvuldig onderzoek instellen. En wanneer het ontwijfelbaar vaststaat, dat die gruwel in Israël is gepleegd,
5 And you will bring out the man that or the woman that who they have done the thing evil this to gates your the man or the woman and you will stone them with stones and they will die.
dan moet ge dien man of die vrouw, die dat kwaad heeft bedreven, buiten de poort leiden en ze stenigen tot ze sterven.
6 On [the] mouth of - two witnesses or three witnesses he will be put to death the [one who] dies not he will be put to death on [the] mouth of a witness one.
Op het woord van twee of drie getuigen zal de schuldige met de dood worden gestraft; maar hij mag niet worden gedood op het woord van slechts één getuige.
7 [the] hand of The witnesses it will be on him at the first to put to death him and [the] hand of all the people at the last and you will remove the evil from midst your.
De hand van de getuigen moet het eerst tegen hem worden geheven, om hem te doden, en daarna de hand van het hele volk. Zo zult gij dit kwaad uit uw midden uitroeien.
8 If it will be [too] difficult for you a matter for judgment between blood - and blood between dispute and dispute and between wound and wound matters of cases at law in gates your and you will arise and you will go up to the place which he will choose Yahweh God your it.
Wanneer bij een moordzaak, een rechtsgeschil, een kwetsuur, of een twistgeding de uitspraak binnen uw poorten u te moeilijk valt, moet ge de zitting opheffen en naar de plaats gaan, die Jahweh, uw God, zal uitverkiezen.
9 And you will go to the priests the Levites and to the judge who he will be in the days those and you will enquire and they will tell to you [the] word of the verdict.
Daar moet gij u bij de levietische priesters vervoegen en bij den rechter, die er dan zetelt, en hen raadplegen; zij zullen u de beslissing geven.
10 And you will do on [the] mouth of the word which they will tell to you from the place that which he will choose Yahweh and you will take care to do according to all that they will instruct you.
En gij moet handelen volgens de uitspraak, die zij u op de plaats, die Jahweh zal uitverkiezen, zullen geven, en u nauwgezet houden aan al wat zij voor u zullen beslissen.
11 On [the] mouth of the instruction which they will instruct you and on the verdict which they will say to you you will do not you will turn aside from the word which they will tell to you right [hand] and left [hand].
Gij moet handelen naar de uiteenzetting, die zij u hebben gegeven en naar het oordeel, dat zij voor u hebben geveld, en noch ter rechter- noch ter linkerzijde afwijken van de uitspraak, die zij u hebben meegedeeld.
12 And the person who he will act with presumption to not to listen to the priest who stands to serve there Yahweh God your or to the judge and he will die the person that and you will remove the evil from Israel.
De man, die vermetel genoeg is, niet te luisteren naar den priester, die daar staat, om Jahweh, uw God, te dienen, of naar den rechter, zal sterven. Zo zult ge dit kwaad uit Israël uitroeien;
13 And all the people they will hear and they may fear and not they will act presumptuously! again.
want heel het volk zal het horen en vrezen, en niet meer opstandig zijn.
14 If you will go into the land which Yahweh God your [is] about to give to you and you will take possession of it and you will dwell in it and you will say let me appoint over myself a king like all the nations which [are] around me.
Wanneer gij in het land zijt gekomen, dat Jahweh, uw God, u zal geven, het in bezit hebt genomen, en u daar zult hebben gevestigd, en zegt: Ik wil een koning over mij aanstellen, zoals alle volken, die mij omringen,
15 Indeed you will appoint over yourself a king whom he will choose Yahweh God your him from [the] midst of countrymen your you will appoint over yourself a king not you will be able to set over yourself a man foreign who not [is] countryman your he.
dan moogt gij slechts als koning over u aanstellen, dien Jahweh, uw God, zal uitverkiezen. Het moet iemand uit uw broeders zijn, dien gij als koning over u aanstelt; in geen geval moogt gij een buitenlander, iemand die niet tot uw broeders behoort, aan uw hoofd plaatsen.
16 Only not he will increase for himself horses and not he will make return the people Egypt towards so as to increase horse[s] and Yahweh he has said to you not you will repeat! to return on the way this again.
Hij mag geen talrijke paarden gaan houden, en het volk niet naar Egypte terugvoeren om meer paarden te krijgen; want Jahweh heeft u gezegd: Nooit keert ge meer terug langs die weg!
17 And not he will increase for himself wives and not it will turn aside heart his and silver and gold not he will increase for himself exceedingly.
Ook mag hij geen talrijke vrouwen nemen, om niet afvallig te worden, en niet veel zilver en goud ophopen.
18 And it will be when sits he on [the] throne of kingdom his and he will write for himself copy of the law this on a scroll from to before the priests the Levites.
En zodra hij de koningstroon heeft beklommen, moet hij zich op een boekrol een afschrift van de Wet laten maken, die bij de levietische priesters berust,
19 And it will be with him and he will read it all [the] days of life his so that he may learn to fear Yahweh God his to keep all [the] words of the law this and the statutes these to do them.
het bij zich houden en er iedere dag van zijn leven in lezen, om Jahweh, zijn God, te leren vrezen en alle geboden van deze Wet en deze bepalingen nauwgezet te volbrengen.
20 To not to be high heart his more than countrymen his and to not to turn aside from the commandment right [hand] and left [hand] so that he may prolong days over kingdom his he and descendants his in [the] midst of Israel.
Zo zal hij zich niet trots boven zijn broeders verheffen, noch ter rechter- of ter linkerzijde van de geboden afwijken, en lange tijd met zijn zonen zijn koningschap in Israël behouden.
