Colossians 4
1 you who [are] Masters, that which [is] righteous and that which [is] equal to the slaves do give knowing that also you yourselves have a Master in (heaven. *N(k)O*)
Gij meesters, geeft uw slaven wat recht is en billijk; want gij weet, dat ook gij een Meester hebt in de hemel.
2 In prayer do continue steadfastly watching in it with thanksgiving;
Volhardt in het gebed, aandachtig en dankbaar!
3 praying at the same time also for us that God may open to us a door for the word to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which also I have been bound,
Bidt ook voor ons, dat God ons de deur der prediking mag openen, en ik het heilsgeheim van Christus verkondigen mag, waarvoor ik dan ook een gevangene ben;
4 so that I may make clear it as it behooves me to speak.
en dat ik het openlijk mag preken, zoals het mijn plicht is.
5 In wisdom do walk toward those outside the time redeeming.
Uw omgang met de buitenstaanders moet met wijsheid gebeuren; neemt daartoe elke gunstige gelegenheid te baat.
6 [Let] the speech of you [be] always in grace, with salt seasoned, to know how it behooves you one each to answer.
Uw gesprek moet steeds opgewekt zijn, met zout gekruid; gij moet weten, hoe gij iedereen te woord hebt te staan.
7 The [things] concerning me myself all will make known to you Tychicus the beloved brother and faithful servant and fellow bond-servant in [the] Lord,
Túchicus, mijn geliefde broeder, de trouwe dienaar en medearbeider in den Heer, zal u volledig inlichten over mijn toestand.
8 whom I sent to you for this very purpose that (you may know *N(K)(O)*) the [things] concerning (us *N(K)O*) and he may encourage the hearts of you,
Daarom juist zend ik hem naar u toe, opdat gij weten moogt, hoe het ons gaat, en opdat hij uw harten mag troosten.
9 with Onesimus the faithful and beloved brother, who is [one] of you; All things to you they will make known here.
Met hem zend ik Onésimus uw landgenoot, den trouwen en geliefden broeder. Zij zullen u vertellen al wat hier gebeurt.
10 Greets you Aristarchus the fellow prisoner of mine and Mark the cousin of Barnabas, concerning whom you have received instructions: if he shall come to you, do welcome him;
U groet Aristarchus, mijn medegevangene; en Markus, de neef van Bárnabas, over wien gij reeds de opdracht hebt gekregen, hem goed te ontvangen, als hij bij u komt; Jesus eveneens, ook Justus geheten.
11 and also Jesus who is being named Justus, those being among [the] circumcision these only fellow workers for the kingdom of God, who have been to me a comfort.
Ze zijn de enigen uit de besnijdenis, die mijn medewerkers voor het koninkrijk Gods, en voor mijzelf een grote troost zijn geweest.
12 Greets you Epaphras who [is] [one] of you, a servant of Christ (Jesus, *NO*) always struggling for you in the prayers, so that (you may be stood *N(k)O*) mature and (fully complete *N(k)O*) in all [the] will of God.
U groet Épafras uw landgenoot, een dienstknecht van Christus Jesus, die steeds voor u worstelt in zijn gebeden, opdat gij stand moogt houden, volmaakt en volkomen, in alles wat God van u verlangt.
13 I bear witness for to him that he has great (labour *N(K)O*) for you and those in Laodicea and [those] of them in Hiera polis.
Want ik getuig over hem, dat hij zich veel moeite getroost, zowel voor u als voor hen, die in Laodicea en Hiërápolis zijn.
14 Greets you Luke the physician beloved and also Demas.
U groet de geliefde Lukas, de arts, en Demas eveneens.
15 do greet the in Laodicea brothers and also (Nympha *N(K)O*) and the in house (of her *N(K)(o)*) church.
Groet de broeders in Laodicea; zo ook Numfa met de gemeente, die in haar huis vergadert.
16 And when may be read among you the letter, do cause that also in the of [the] Laodiceans church it may be read, and the [one] from Laodicea that also you yourselves may read.
En wanneer de brief bij u is voorgelezen, zorgt er dan voor, dat hij ook in de kerk van Laodicea voorgelezen wordt, en dat gij zelf de brief uit Laodicea te lezen krijgt.
17 And do say to Archippus; do take heed to the ministry that you have received in [the] Lord, that it you may fulfill.
En zegt aan Archippus: Zorg er voor, dat ge het ambt naar behoren vervult, dat ge ontvangen hebt in den Heer.
18 The greeting in my own hand — by Paul. do remember my chains. Grace [be] with you (Amen. *KO*) (to Colossian it was written from Rome through Tychicus and Onesimus. *K*)
De eigenhandige groet van mij: Paulus. Weest mijn boeien indachtig! De genade zij met u allen!
