Amos 3

1 Hear the word this which he has spoken Yahweh on you O people of Israel on all the clan which I brought up from [the] land of Egypt saying.

ای اسرائیل، به پیام خداوند گوش دهید. این پیام برای تمام قومی است که او از سرزمین مصر بیرون آورد:

2 Only you I have known from all [the] clans of the earth there-fore I will visit on you all iniquities your.

«از میان تمام اقوام روی زمین، من تنها شما را انتخاب کرده‌ام. به همین دلیل، وقتی گناه می‌کنید، شما را تنبیه می‌کنم.»

3 ¿ Do they walk two [people] together except if they have met by appointment.

آیا دو نفر می‌توانند با هم راه روند اگر دربارهٔ مسیر خود توافق نکرده باشند؟

4 ¿ Does it roar a lion in the forest and prey not [belongs] to it ¿ does it give forth a young lion voice its from den its except if it has caught [something].

تا دلیلی نداشته باشم، آیا مثل شیر غرش می‌کنم؟ شیر ژیان وقتی غرش می‌کند نشان می‌دهد که خود را برای طعمه آماده می‌کند.

5 ¿ Does it fall a bird on bird-trap of the earth and [is] a snare there not for it ¿ does it go up a bird-trap from the ground and surely not it catches [something].

آیا پرنده‌ای در دام گرفتار می‌شود اگر طمعه‌ای در آن نباشد؟ آیا تله بسته می‌شود، وقتی چیزی نگرفته باشد؟

6 Is it blown a trumpet in a city and [the] people not they tremble or? is it calamity in a city and Yahweh not he has done [it].

وقتی شیپور جنگ در شهر به صدا در می‌آید، آیا نباید مردم نگران شوند؟ آیا بلا بر شهر نازل می‌شود، اگر خداوند آن را مقرر نکرده باشد؟

7 For not he does [the] Lord Yahweh anything that except he has revealed secret counsel his to servants his the prophets.

به‌یقین خداوند یهوه کاری نمی‌کند مگر آنکه نقشۀ خود را به‌وسیلۀ انبیا آشکار کند.

8 A lion it has roared who? not will he be afraid [the] Lord Yahweh he has spoken who? not will he prophesy.

شیر غرش کرده است! کیست که نترسد؟ خداوند یهوه سخن گفته است، کیست که پیامش را اعلان نکند.

9 Proclaim to [the] fortresses in Ashdod and to [the] fortresses in [the] land of Egypt and say gather yourselves on [the] mountains of Samaria and see disturbances great in [the] midst of it and oppression in midst its.

ساکنان قصرهای اشدود و مصر را جمع کنید و به آنها بگویید: «روی کوههای سامره بنشینید تا شاهد آشوب و ظلم در اسرائیل باشید.»

10 And not they know to do straightforwardness [the] utterance of Yahweh those [who] store up violence and devastation in fortresses their.

خداوند می‌فرماید: «قوم من درستکاری را از یاد برده‌اند. کاخهای آنها پر از غنایمی است که از راه دزدی و غارت به دست آمده است.

11 Therefore thus he says [the] Lord Yahweh an opponent and around the land and he will bring down from you strength your and they will be plundered fortresses your.

بنابراین، دشمن می‌آید و آنها را محاصره نموده، قلعه‌هایشان را ویران می‌کند و آن کاخهای مجلل را غارت می‌نماید.»

12 Thus he says Yahweh just as he delivers the shepherd from [the] mouth of lion two legs or a piece of an ear so they will be delivered [the] people of Israel who dwell in Samaria with a corner of a bed and with silk of a couch.

خداوند می‌فرماید: «هرگاه چوپانی بخواهد گوسفندش را از چنگ شیر برهاند، فقط می‌تواند دو ساق یا یک گوش گوسفند را از دهان شیر بیرون بکشد. در سامره نیز وضعیت همین‌طور خواهد بود و فقط عدهٔ کمی از بنی‌اسرائیل که بر تختهای مجلل نشسته‌اند جان به در خواهند برد.»

13 Hear and warn [the] house of Jacob [the] utterance of [the] Lord Yahweh [the] God of hosts.

خداوند، خدای لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: «به این اعلامیه گوش کنید و آن را در سراسر اسرائیل به گوش همه برسانید.

14 That on [the] day visit I [the] transgressions of Israel on it and I will visit [them] on [the] altars of Beth-el and they will be cut off [the] horns of the altar and they will fall to the ground.

همان روزی که اسرائیل را به سبب گناهانش تنبیه کنم، مذبحهای بتها را نیز در بیت‌ئیل نابود خواهم کرد. شاخهای مذبح بریده می‌شوند و به زمین می‌افتند.

15 And I will strike [the] house of the winter to [the] house of the summer and they will perish [the] houses of ivory and people will snatch away houses great [the] utterance of Yahweh.

کاخهای ثروتمندان را خراب خواهم کرد و خانه‌های زیبای ییلاقی و قشلاقی و قصرهای ساخته شده از عاج ایشان را با خاک یکسان خواهم ساخت.» این است فرمودۀ خداوند.
