< Acts 26 >
1 Agrippa then to Paul was saying; It is permitted you (for *N(k)O*) yourself to speak. Then Paul having stretched out the hand was presenting a defense:
Agrippa sayde vnto Paul: thou arte permitted to speake for thy selfe. Then Paul stretched forth the honde and answered for him selfe.
2 Concerning all of which I am accused by [the] Jews, King Agrippa, I have esteemed myself fortunate before you being about today to present a defense;
I thynke my selfe happy kynge Agrippa because I shall answere this daye before the of all the thinges wherof I am accused of ye Iewes
3 Especially acquainted being you with all the of [the] Jews (customs *NK(o)*) and also controversies. therefore I implore (you *k*) patiently to hear me.
namely because thou arte experte in all customes and questions which are amonge the Iewes. Wherfore I beseche the to heare me paciently.
4 The indeed then manner of life of mine which [is] from youth from [its] beginning having been among the nation of mine in (also *no*) Jerusalem know all the Jews
My lyvynge of a chylde which was at the fyrst amoge myne awne nacion at Ierusalem knowe all the Iewes
5 knowing me from the first, if they may be willing to testify that according to the strictest sect of our own religion I lived [as] a Pharisee;
which knew me from ye beginnynge yf they wolde testifie it. For after the most straytest secte of oure laye lyved I a pharisaye.
6 And now for [the] hope of the (to *N(k)O*) the fathers of us promise having been made by God I have stood being judged,
And now I stond and am iudged for the hope of the promes made of God vnto oure fathers:
7 to which the twelve tribes of us in earnestness night and day serving they hope to attain, concerning which hope I am accused (Agrippa *K*) by (the *k*) Jews, O king,
vnto which promes oure. xii. tribes instantly servynge God daye and nyght hope to come. For which hopes sake kynge Agrippa am I accused of the Iewes.
8 Why incredible is it judged by you if God [the] dead raises?
Why shuld it be thought a thinge vncredible vnto you that god shuld rayse agayne the deed?
9 I myself indeed therefore thought in myself to the name of Jesus of Nazareth needing many things contrary to do,
I also verely thought in my selfe that I ought to do many cotrary thinges clene agaynst the name of Iesus of Nazareth:
10 which also I did in Jerusalem and many (also *no*) of the saints I myself (in *no*) prisons locked up the from the chief priests authority having received, when were being executed then they I cast against [them] a vote;
which thinge I also dyd in Ierusalem. Where many of the sainctes I shut vp in preson and had receaved auctorite of ye hye prestes. And whe they were put to deeth I gave the sentence.
11 And in all the synagogues often punishing them I was compelling [them] to blaspheme, Excessively then being furious against them I was persecuting [them] as far as even to foreign cities.
And I punysshed them ofte in every synagoge and compelled them to blaspheme: and was yet more mad apon them and persecuted the even vnto straunge cities.
12 during which (and *k*) journeying to Damascus with [the] authority and commission which [is] (from *k*) the chief priests
About the which thinges as I went to Damasco with auctorite and licence of the hye Prestes
13 At day mid on the road I saw, O king, from heaven above the brightness of the sun having shone around me a light and those with me myself journeying.
even at myddaye (o kynge) I sawe in ye waye a lyght from heven above the brightnes of the sunne shyne rounde about me and them which iorneyed with me.
14 All (and *N(k)O*) when were falling down we to the ground I heard a voice (saying *N(k)O*) to me (and saying *k*) in the Hebrew language; Saul Saul, why Me persecute you? [It is] hard for you against [the] goads to kick.
When we were all fallen to the erth I hearde a voyce speakynge vnto me and sayinge in ye Hebrue tonge: Saul Saul why persecutest thou me? It is harde for the to kicke agaynste the pricke.
15 I myself then said; Who are You Lord? And (the Lord *no*) said; I myself am Jesus whom you yourself are persecuting.
And I sayde: Who arte thou lorde? And he sayde I am Iesus whom thou persecutest.
16 But do rise up and do stand on the feet of you; to this [purpose] for I have appeared to you to appoint you a servant and a witness of that which both you have seen (of Me *NO*) of the things in which then I will appear to you,
But ryse and stond vp on thy fete. For I have apered vnto the for this purpose to make the a minister and a witnes both of tho thinges which thou hast sene and of tho thinges in the which I will appere vnto the
17 delivering you out from the people and (from *no*) the Gentiles, to whom (I myself *N(K)O*) am sending you
delyverynge the from the people and from ye gentyls vnto which nowe I sende the
18 to open eyes of them, that (to turn *NK(o)*) from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, [that] to receive they forgiveness of sins and [an] inheritance among those sanctified by faith which [is] in Me myself.
to open their eyes that they myght turne from darcknes vnto lyght and from the power of Satan vnto God that they maye receave forgevenes of synnes and inheritauce amonge the which are sanctified by fayth in me.
19 So then, O king Agrippa, not I was disobedient to the heavenly vision,
Wherfore kynge Agrippa I was not disobedient vnto the hevenly vision:
20 but to those in Damascus first (both *no*) also in Jerusalem (into *k*) all both the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles (I was declaring *N(k)O*) to repent and to turn to God worthy of repentance works doing.
but shewed fyrst vnto them of Damasco and at Ierusalem and thorow out all the costes of Iewry and to the gentyls that they shuld repent and turne to God and do the ryght workes of repentaunce.
21 On account of these things me (the *k*) Jews having seized (being *n*) in the temple they were attempting to kill.
For this cause the Iewes caught me in the temple and went about to kyll me.
22 Help therefore having obtained (from *N(k)O*) God unto day this I have stood (bearing witness *N(k)O*) to small both and to great, no [thing] other saying than what both the prophets said was about to happen and Moses,
Neverthelesse I obtayned helpe of God and cotynew vnto this daye witnessyng bothe to small and to greate saying none other thinges then those which the prophetes and Moses dyd saye shuld come
23 that would suffer the Christ, as first through resurrection from [the] dead light He is about to preach (to both *no*) our people and to the Gentiles.
that Christ shulde suffre and that he shuld be the fyrst that shulde ryse from deeth and shuld shewe lyght vnto the people and the gentyls.
24 These things now when he is presenting a defense Festus in a loud voice (said; *N(k)O*) You are insane Paul! The great of you learning to insanity turns [you]!
As he thus answered for him selfe: Festus sayde with a lowde voyce: Paul thou arte besides thy selfe. Moche learnynge hath made the mad.
25 But (Paul; *no*) Not I am insane says most excellent Festus, but of truth and sobriety declarations I utter.
And Paul sayde: I am not mad most dere Festus: but speake the wordes of trueth and sobernes.
26 Understands for concerning these things the king to whom also using boldness I speak; Hiding for him any of these things not I am persuaded no [thing]; not for is in a corner done of these things.
The kynge knoweth of these thinges before whom I speke frely: nether thynke I that eny of these thinges are hydden fro him. For this thinge was not done in a corner.
27 Believe you, King Agrippa, in the prophets? I know that you believe.
Kynge Agrippa belevest thou ye prophetes? I wote well thou belevest.
28 Then Agrippa to Paul (was saying: *k*) Within so little [time] me you [seek to] persuade a Christian (to become! *N(k)O*)
Agrippa sayde vnto Paul: Sumwhat thou bringest me in mynde for to be come a Christen.
29 And Paul (said; *k*) I would wish may God both in a little and in (much *N(k)O*) not only you but also all those hearing me this day to become such as also I myself am except chains these.
And Paul sayd: I wolde to God that not only thou: but also all that heare me to daye were not sumwhat only but altogeder soche as I am except these bondes.
30 (and these things when was speaking he *K*) rose up (then *no*) the king and the governor and Bernice and those sitting with them;
And when he had thus spoken the kynge rose vp and the debite and Bernice and they that sate with them.
31 and having withdrawn they were speaking to one another saying that No [thing] of death or of chains worthy (any *NO*) is doing man this.
And when they were gone aparte they talked betwene them selves sayinge: This man doeth nothinge worthy of deeth nor of bondes.
32 Agrippa then to Festus was saying; to have been released was able man this, only unless he had appealed to Caesar.
Then sayde Agrippa vnto Festus: This man myght have bene lowsed yf he had not appealed vnto Cesar.
