< Acts 24 >
1 After then five days came down the high priest Ananias with (of the *k*) elders (some *NO*) and an orator Tertullus certain, who made a representation to the governor against Paul.
After. v. dayes Ananias the hye preste descended with elders and with a certayne Oratour named Tartullus and enformed the ruelar of Paul.
2 When was invited then he began to accuse Tertullus saying; Great peace we are attaining through you and (excellent reforms *N(K)O*) are being done to the nation this [one] through your foresight
When Paul was called forth Tartullus beganne to accuse him saying: Seynge yt we live in great quyetnes by the meanes of the and that many good thinges are done vnto this nacion thorow thy providence:
3 in every way both and everywhere we gladly accept [it], most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.
that alowe we ever and in all places most myghty Felix with all thankes.
4 In order that however not to any longer you I may be a hindrance, I implore to hear you us briefly in your kindness.
Notwithstondinge that I be not tedeous vnto the I praye the that thou woldest heare vs of thy curtesy a feawe wordes.
5 Having found for man this a pest and stirring (insurrections *N(K)O*) among all the Jews in the world a leader then of the of the Nazarenes sect;
We have founde this ma a pestilent felowe and a mover of debate vnto all the Iewes thorowe out the worlde and a mayntayner of ye secte of the Nazarites
6 who even the temple attempted to profane, whom also we seized (and according to our own law we wanted to judge. *K*)
and hath also enforsed to pollute the temple. Whom we toke and wolde have iudged acordinge to oure lawe:
7 (having come up now Lysias the commander with great violence from the hands of us being carried away, *K*)
but the hye captayne Lisias came vpon vs and with great violence toke him awaye out of oure hodes
8 (having commanded the accusers of him to come upon you; *K*) From him you will be able yourself having examined [him] concerning all these things to know of which we ourselves accuse him.
comaundinge his accusars to come vnto the. Of who thou mayst (yf thou wilt enquyre) knowe the certayne of all these thinges where of we accuse him.
9 (Agreed *N(k)O*) then also the Jews declaring these things so to be.
The Iewes lyke wyse affermed sayinge that it was even so.
10 Answered (then *N(k)O*) Paul, when was signalling to him the governor to speak: For many years as being you judge to nation this knowing [these] encouraging things, concerning myself I present a defense;
Then Paul (after that the rular him selfe had beckened vnto him that he shuld speake) answered: I shall with a moare quyet minde answere for my selfe for as moche as I vnderstonde yt thou hast bene of many yeares a iudge vnto this people
11 Being able you (to know *N(k)O*) that not more there are to me days (than *k*) (twelve *N(k)O*) from which I went up to then worship (in *N(k)O*) Jerusalem;
because that thou mayst knowe yt there are yet. xii. dayes sence I went vp to Ierusalem for to praye
12 And neither in the temple did they find me with anyone reasoning or (obstruction *N(k)O*) making of a crowd nor in the synagogues nor in the city;
and that they nether founde me in the teple disputinge with eny man other raysinge vp the people nether in the Synagoges nor in the cite.
13 (nor *N(k)O*) to prove are they able (to you *N(K)O*) concerning [the things] of which (now *N(k)O*) they accuse me.
Nether can they prove ye thinges wher of they accuse me.
14 I confess however this to you that according to the Way which they name a sect so I serve the ancestral God believing in all [things] throughout the law and (that in *no*) the Prophets written,
But this I confesse vnto ye that after that waye (which they call heresy) so worshippe I the God of my fathers belevinge all thinges which are writte in the lawe and ye Prophetes
15 a hope having in God which also they themselves await, [that] a resurrection to ensue to then be (of [the] dead-*K*) of [the] just both and of [the] unjust;
and have hope towardes God that ye same resurreccion from deeth (which they them selves loke for also) shalbe both of iust and vniust.
16 In this (also *N(k)O*) I myself strive without offense a conscience (to have *NK(o)*) toward God and men (through *N(K)O*) (all [times]. *N(k)O*)
And therfore stody I to have a cleare consciece towarde God and toward man also.
17 After years now many alms to then bring to the nation of mine I came and offerings,
But after many yeres I came and brought almes to my people and offeringes
18 during (which *N(k)O*) they found me purified in the temple not with a crowd nor in tumult, Some however [are] from Asia Jews
in the which they founde me purified in the teple nether with multitude nor yet wt vnquyetnes How beit there were certayne Iewes out of Asia
19 who (it was necessary *N(k)O*) before you to appear and to make accusation, if anything they would have against me myself.
which ought to be here present before the and accuse me yf they had ought agaynst me:
20 Otherwise themselves it they should say (if *k*) any they found (in me myself *ko*) unrighteousness when was standing I before the Council,
or els let these same here saye if they have founde eny evyll doinge in me whill I stonde here in ye counsell:
21 [other] than concerning one this voice which I cried out among them standing that Concerning [the] resurrection of [the] dead I myself am judged this day (by *N(k)O*) you.
except it be for this one voyce yt I cryed stondinge amoge the of the resurreccion fro deeth am I iudged of you this daye.
22 (having heard these things *K*) deferred then them Felix more precisely knowing the [things] concerning the Way having said; When Lysias the commander may have come down, I will examine the [things] as to you.
When Felix hearde these thinges he deferde them for he knewe very well of yt waye and sayde: when Lisias the captayne is come I will know the vtmost of youre matters.
23 having commanded (also *k*) to the centurion to keep (*k*) (him, *N(K)O*) to [let him] have then ease and not to forbid the private [friends] of him to minister (or to come near *K*) to him.
And he commaunded an vndercaptayne to kepe Paul and that he shuld have rest and that he shuld forbyd none of his aquayntauce to minister vnto him or to come vnto him.
24 After then days some having arrived Felix with Drusilla the (own *N(k)O*) wife being a Jewess he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the in Christ (Jesus *NO*) faith.
And after a certayne dayes ca Felix and his wyfe Drusilla which was a Iewas and called forth Paul and hearde him of the fayth which is toward Christ.
25 When reasoning then he concerning righteousness and self-control and the judgment which is coming (to be [in the future] *K*) frightened having become Felix answered; For the present being do go away; opportunity then having found I will call for you;
And as he preached of righteousnes temperauce and iudgement to come Felix trembled and answered: thou hast done ynough at this tyme departe when I have a conveniet tyme I will sende for the.
26 At the same time (now *k*) also he is hoping that riches will be given to him by Paul (so that may release him *K*) Therefore also often him sending for he was talking with him.
He hoped also that money shuld have bene geven him of Paul that he myght lowse him: wherfore he called him ye oftener and comened with him.
27 When two years however having been completed he received [as] successor Felix Porcius Festus, wishing then (favor *N(k)O*) to acquire for himself with the Jews Felix left Paul imprisoned.
But after two yeare Festus Porcius came into Felix roume. And Felix willinge to shewe ye Iewes a pleasure lefte Paul in preson bounde.
