3 John 1

1 The elder To Gaius the beloved whom I myself love in truth.

Der Älteste an den geliebten Gajus, den ich liebe in Wahrheit.

2 Beloved, concerning all things I pray you to do well and to be in good health even as does well your soul.

Geliebter, ich wünsche, daß es dir in allen Stücken wohl gehe, und du gesund seiest wie es deiner Seele wohl ergeht.

3 I rejoiced for exceedingly when were coming [the] brothers and those bearing witness from you to the to truth, even as you yourself in truth are walking.

Es freute mich sehr, als Brüder kamen und deiner Wahrhaftigkeit Zeugnis gaben, wie du denn in der Wahrheit wandelst.

4 Greater than these things not I have (joy *NK(O)*) that I may hear of my children in (the *no*) truth walking.

Ich habe keine größere Freude denn die, daß ich höre, wie meine Kinder in der Wahrheit wandeln.

5 Beloved, faithfully you are doing whatever maybe you shall do for the brothers and (for *k*) (that [thing] *N(k)O*) strangers,

Geliebter, du handelst treulich in dem, was du an den Brüdern, und zumal an denen tust, die aus der Ferne kommen,

6 who testified of your love before [the] church, whom well you will do having set forward worthily of God.

Und die von deiner Liebe vor der Gemeinde Zeugnis gaben, und du wirst wohl tun, wenn du ihnen auf eine Gottes würdige Weise forthilfst.

7 On behalf for of the name they went forth nothing accepting from the (Gentile [people]. *N(k)O*)

Denn um Seines Namens willen sind sie ausgegangen und haben von den Heiden nichts genommen.

8 We ourselves therefore ought (to receive *N(k)O*) such [men] so that fellow workers we may be in the truth.

So gebührt es uns denn, solche aufzunehmen, auf daß wir der Wahrheit Vorschub tun.

9 I have written (something *no*) to the church; but the [one] loving to be first among them Diotrephes not welcomes us.

Ich schrieb an die Gemeinde, aber Diotrephes, der unter ihnen will der Erste sein, nimmt uns nicht an.

10 Because of this, if I shall come, I will bring to remembrance of him the works which he is doing, with words evil prating against us; and not being satisfied with these, neither himself he receives the brothers, and those purposing he forbids and from the church he casts [them] out.

Darum, wenn ich komme, will ich ihn vermahnen ob seinen Werken, die er tut, indem er übel von uns spricht, und es nicht dabei bewenden läßt, und die Brüder nicht annimmt, und die, so es tun wollen, aus der Gemeinde stößt.

11 Beloved, not do imitate what [is] evil but what [is] good. The [one] doing good of God is; the [one] (now *k*) doing evil not has seen God.

Geliebter, folge nicht dem Bösen nach, sondern dem Guten. Wer Gutes tut, ist aus Gott, wer Böses tut, hat Gott nicht geschaut.

12 To Demetrius witness has been given by all and by itself the truth; and we ourselves also bear witness, and (you know *N(k)O*) that the testimony of us true is.

Demetrius hat von jedermann ein gutes Zeugnis, und von der Wahrheit selbst, und auch wir zeugen

13 Many things I had (to write *N(k)O*) (to you, *no*) but not I desire with ink and pen to you (to write; *N(k)O*)

Ich hätte dir noch viel zu schreiben, allein ich will es nicht mit Tinte und Feder tun.

14 I hope however soon you to see and mouth to mouth we will speak. Peace to you. Greet you the friends. do greet the friends by name.

Ich hoffe, dich bald zu sehen, und dann wollen wir es mündlich besprechen. Friede sei mit dir! Es grüßen dich die Freunde. Grüße die Freunde, jeden mit Namen.
