< 2 Samuel 9 >
1 And he said David ¿ for [is] there still [one] who he is left to [the] house of Saul so I may do with him covenant loyalty for sake of Jonathan.
And David says, “Is there yet any left of the house of Saul, and I do with him kindness because of Jonathan?”
2 And [belonged] to [the] house of Saul a servant and name his [was] Ziba and people summoned him to David and he said the king to him ¿ [are] you Ziba and he said servant your.
And the house of Saul has a servant, and his name [is] Ziba, and they call for him to David; and the king says to him, “Are you Ziba?” And he says, “Your servant.”
3 And he said the king ¿ [is] there not still anyone of [the] house of Saul so I may do with him [the] covenant loyalty of God and he said Ziba to the king still a son of Jonathan stricken of both feet.
And the king says, “Is there not yet a man of the house of Saul, and I do with him the kindness of God?” And Ziba says to the king, “Jonathan has yet a son—lame.”
4 And he said to him the king where? [is] he and he said Ziba to the king here! he [is] [the] house of Makir [the] son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.
And the king says to him, “Where [is] he?” And Ziba says to the king, “Behold, he [is] in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Behold-Debar.”
5 And he sent the king David and he took him from [the] house of Makir [the] son of Ammiel from Lo Debar.
And King David sends, and takes him out of the house of Machir son of Ammiel, of Behold-Debar,
6 And he came Mephibosheth [the] son of Jonathan [the] son of Saul to David and he fell on face his and he bowed down and he said David O Mephibosheth and he said here! [is] servant your.
and Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, comes to David, and falls on his face, and pays respect, and David says, “Mephibosheth”; and he says, “Behold, your servant.”
7 And he said to him David may not you be afraid for certainly I will do with you covenant loyalty for sake of Jonathan father your and I will restore to you all [the] land of Saul father your and you you will eat food on table my continually.
And David says to him, “Do not be afraid; for I certainly do with you kindness because of your father Jonathan, and have given back to you all the field of your father Saul, and you continually eat bread at my table.”
8 And he bowed down and he said what? [is] servant your that you have turned to the dog dead who [is] like me.
And he bows himself and says, “What [is] your servant, that you have turned to the dead dog—such as I?”
9 And he summoned the king Ziba [the] servant of Saul and he said to him all that it belonged to Saul and to all household his I have given to [the] son of master your.
And the king calls to Ziba servant of Saul and says to him, “All that was of Saul and of all his house, I have given to the son of your lord,
10 And you will work for him the land you and sons your and servants your and you will bring and it will be for [the] son of master your food and he will eat it and Mephibosheth [the] son of master your he will eat continually food on table my and [belonged] to Ziba fif-teen sons and twenty servants.
and you have served the land for him, you and your sons, and your servants, and have brought in, and there has been bread for the son of your lord, and he has eaten it; and Mephibosheth, son of your lord, continually eats bread at my table”; and Ziba has fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 And he said Ziba to the king according to all that he will command lord my the king servant his so he will do servant your and Mephibosheth [was] eating on table my like one from [the] children of the king.
And Ziba says to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant does.” “As for Mephibosheth,” [says the king, ] “he is eating at my table as one of the sons of the king.”
12 And [belonged] to Mephibosheth a son young and name his [was] Mica and every resident of [the] house of Ziba [were] servants of Mephibosheth.
And Mephibosheth has a young son, and his name [is] Micha, and everyone dwelling in the house of Ziba [are] servants to Mephibosheth.
13 And Mephibosheth [was] dwelling in Jerusalem for on [the] table of the king continually he [was] eating and he ([was] lame *LA(bh)*) [the] two feet his.
And Mephibosheth is dwelling in Jerusalem, for he is continually eating at the table of the king, and he [is] lame [in] his two feet.
