2 Samuel 24
1 And it repeated [the] anger of Yahweh to burn on Israel and he incited David against them saying go count Israel and Judah.
Một lần nữa Chúa Hằng Hữu nổi giận người Ít-ra-ên, nên Ngài khiến Đa-vít kiểm kê dân số để hại họ. Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Hãy đi và kiểm kê dân số Ít-ra-ên và Giu-đa.”
2 And he said the king to Joab - [the] commander of the army who [was] with him go about please in all [the] tribes of Israel from Dan and to Beer Sheba and enroll the people and I will know [the] number of the people.
Vua bảo Giô-áp, tướng chỉ huy quân đội đang ở với ông: “Hãy đi kiểm kê dân số các đại tộc Ít-ra-ên, từ Đan cho đến Bê-e-sê-ba và cho ta biết tổng số.”
3 And he said Joab to the king and may he add Yahweh God your to the people like them - and like them a hundred times and [the] eyes of lord my the king [are] seeing [it] and lord my the king why? does he delight in the thing this.
Nhưng Giô-áp đáp: “Cầu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của vua cho vua thấy gia tăng dân số gấp trăm lần dân số hiện hữu. Nhưng tại sao vua muốn làm việc này?”
4 And it prevailed [the] word of the king to Joab and over [the] commanders of the army and he went out Joab and commanders of the army before the king to enroll the people Israel.
Tuy nhiên lệnh vua mạnh hơn ý kiến của Giô-áp và các quan chỉ huy, nên họ đành từ giã vua đi kiểm kê dân số.
5 And they passed over the Jordan and they encamped at Aroer [the] south of the city which [is] in [the] middle of the wadi Gad and to Jazer.
Họ qua sông Giô-đan, cắm trại phía nam A-rô-e, một thành giữa thung lũng Gát, rồi từ đó đi Gia-ê-xe.
6 And they came Gilead towards and to [the] land of Tahtim Hodshi and they came Dan towards Jaan and around to Sidon.
Kế đó, họ đi Ga-la-át, miền Ta-tim Hốt-si, Đan, vòng đến Si-đôn,
7 And they came [the] fortress of Tyre and all [the] cities of the Hivite[s] and the Canaanite[s] and they went out to [the] Negev of Judah Beer Sheba.
đồn Ty-rơ, các thành của người Hê-vi và người Ca-na-an. Xuống miền nam đến Giu-đa, tận Bê-e-sê-ba.
8 And they went about in all the land and they came from [the] end of nine months and twenty day[s] Jerusalem.
Sau chín tháng hai mươi ngày, họ hoàn tất công tác và trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
9 And he gave Joab [the] number of [the] muster of the people to the king and it was Israel eight hundred thousand man of strength [who] drew a sword and [the] man of Judah [was] five hundred thousand man.
Giô-áp dâng bản phúc trình lên vua, theo đó Ít-ra-ên có 800.000 người lính chiến có tài cầm gươm, còn Giu-đa có 500.000.
10 And it struck [the] heart of David him after thus he had counted the people. And he said David to Yahweh I have sinned exceedingly [that] which I have done and now O Yahweh take away please [the] iniquity of servant your for I have acted foolishly exceedingly.
Kiểm kê dân số xong, Đa-vít bị lương tâm cắn rứt, và thưa với Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu! Con đã phạm trọng tội vì kiểm kê dân số. Xin Chúa Hằng Hữu tha tội cho con, vì con thật điên rồ!”
11 And he arose David in the morning. And [the] word of Yahweh it came to Gad the prophet [the] seer of David saying.
Sáng hôm sau, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Tiên tri Gát là người phục vụ trong triều Đa-vít, rằng:
12 Go and you will speak to David thus he says Yahweh three [things] I [am] laying on you choose for yourself one from them so I may do [it] to you.
“Hãy đi nói với Đa-vít rằng Chúa Hằng Hữu phán thế này: ‘Ta đưa cho ngươi ba điều. Hãy chọn một trong ba, rồi ta sẽ theo đó mà sửa trị ngươi.’”
13 And he went Gad to David and he told to him and he said to him ¿ will it come to you seven years - famine - in land your or? three months fleeing you before opponents your and he [will be] pursuing you and or? to be three days pestilence in land your now know and see what? will I bring back [the] [one who] sent me word.
Vậy, Gát đến gặp Đa-vít và hỏi: “Vua chọn ba năm đói kém trong nước, hoặc ba tháng bị quân thù rượt đuổi, hoặc ba ngày bệnh dịch hoành hành trong lãnh thổ. Vua cân nhắc và quyết định để tôi thưa lại với Chúa, Đấng đã sai tôi.”
14 And he said David to Gad it is distress to me exceedingly let us fall please in [the] hand of Yahweh for [are] great (compassion his *Q(K)*) and in [the] hand of humankind may not I fall.
Đa-vít đáp: “Ta buồn khổ quá! Nhưng, thà rơi vào tay Chúa Hằng Hữu còn hơn vào tay người ta, bởi Ngài rộng lòng thương xót.”
15 And he gave Yahweh pestilence in Israel from the morning and until a time of an appointed time and he died of the people from Dan and to Beer Sheba seventy thousand man.
Vậy, Chúa Hằng Hữu cho bệnh dịch hoành hành trong khắp nước Ít-ra-ên, từ Đan cho đến Bê-e-sê-ba. Bắt đầu từ sáng hôm ấy cho đến hết thời gian ấn định, có đến 70.000 người chết.
16 And he stretched out hand his the angel - Jerusalem to destroy it and he relented Yahweh concerning the harm and he said to the angel the destroyer among the people enough now let drop hand your and [the] angel of Yahweh he was near [the] threshing floor of (Araunah *Q(K)*) the Jebusite.
Khi thiên sứ ra tay hủy diệt Giê-ru-sa-lem, Chúa Hằng Hữu đổi ý về tai họa này, nên ra lệnh cho thiên sứ chấm dứt cuộc hủy diệt. Lúc ấy thiên sứ đang ở ngang sân đạp lúa của A-rau-na, người Giê-bu.
17 And he said David to Yahweh when saw he - the angel - who was striking down the people and he said here! I (the shepherd *X*) I have sinned and I I have done wrong and these the sheep what? have they done let it be please hand your on me and on [the] house of father my.
Khi Đa-vít thấy thiên sứ giết hại dân, ông kêu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Con mới chính là người có tội, còn đàn chiên này có làm gì nên tội đâu? Xin Chúa ra tay hành hạ con và gia đình con.”
18 And he came Gad to David on the day that and he said to him go up raise up to Yahweh an altar on [the] threshing floor of (Araunah *Q(K)*) the Jebusite.
Ngay hôm ấy, Tiên tri Gát đến và nói với Đa-vít: “Vua xây ngay cho Chúa Hằng Hữu một bàn thờ tại sân đạp lúa A-rau-na, người Giê-bu.”
19 And he went up David according to [the] word of Gad just as he had commanded Yahweh.
Theo lời Gát, Đa-vít thi hành lệnh Chúa Hằng Hữu.
20 And he looked down Araunah and he saw the king and servants his passing on to him and he went out Araunah and he bowed down to the king face his [the] ground towards.
Khi A-rau-na thấy vua và các thuộc hạ vua đi tới, vội ra đón, phủ phục sát đất,
21 And he said Araunah why? has he come lord my the king to servant his and he said David to buy from with you the threshing floor to build an altar to Yahweh so it may be restrained the plague from on the people.
hỏi: “Vua đến có việc gì?” Đa-vít đáp: “Để mua sân đạp lúa của ông và xây trên ấy một bàn thờ cho Chúa Hằng Hữu; mong rằng tai họa sẽ chấm dứt, không hành hại dân nữa.”
22 And he said Araunah to David let him take and let him offer up lord my the king the good (in eyes his *Q(K)*) see the ox[en] for the burnt offering and the threshing-sledges and [the] equipment of the ox[en] for the wood.
A-rau-na thưa: “Xin vua cứ tự nhiên sử dụng vật gì để tế, tùy ý. Đây sẵn có bò để dâng lễ thiêu, cũng có xe chở lúa và ách bò dùng làm củi.
23 Everything he gives Araunah O king to the king. And he said Araunah to the king Yahweh God your may he accept favorably you.
Tôi xin dâng cho vua tất cả. Chỉ cầu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của vua nhậm lời vua.”
24 And he said the king to Araunah In-deed certainly I will buy [it] from you for a price and not I will offer up to Yahweh God my burnt offerings without paying and he bought David the threshing floor and the ox[en] for silver shekels fifty.
Đa-vít đáp lời A-rau-na: “Không. Ta muốn mua của ông, chứ không muốn dùng vật không mất tiền dâng lên Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của ta làm lễ thiêu như thế.” Vậy Đa-vít trả năm mươi miếng bạc, để mua sân đạp lúa và mấy con bò,
25 And he built there David an altar to Yahweh and he offered up burnt offerings and peace offerings and he was entreated Yahweh for the land and it was restrained the plague from on Israel.
Đa-vít xây tại đó một bàn thờ cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, dâng lễ thiêu và lễ cảm tạ cho Ngài. Chúa Hằng Hữu nhậm lời cầu nguyện và bệnh dịch không hoành hành nữa.
