2 Samuel 10

1 And it was after thus and he died [the] king of [the] people of Ammon and he reigned Hanun son his in place his.

Och det begaf sig derefter, att Ammons barnas Konung blef död, och hans son Hanun vardt Konung i hans stad.

2 And he said David I will do covenant loyalty - with Hanun [the] son of Nahash just as he did father his with me covenant loyalty and he sent David to comfort him by [the] hand of servants his concerning father his and they came [the] servants of David [the] land of [the] people of Ammon.

Då sade David: Jag vill göra barmhertighet på Hanun, Nahas son, såsom hans fader hafver gjort barmhertighet med mig. Och sände bort och lät genom sina tjenare hugsvala honom öfver hans fader. Och Davids tjenare kommo i Ammons barnas land.

3 And they said [the] leaders of [the] people of Ammon to Hanun lord their ¿ honoring [is] David father your in view your for he has sent to you comforters ¿ not in order to explore the city and to spy on it and to overthrow it has he sent David servants his to you.

Då sade de öfverste öfver Ammons barn till sin herra Hanun: Menar du, att David hedrar din fader för din ögon, att han hafver sändt hugsvalare till dig? Menar du icke, att han fördenskull hafver sändt sina tjenare till dig, att han skall utspana och bespeja staden, och förstöra honom?

4 And he took Hanun [the] servants of David and he shaved half of beard their and he cut off robes their at the middle to buttocks their and he sent away them.

Då tog Hanun Davids tjenare, och lät raka dem halft skägget af; och skar half kläden af på dem, allt intill bältet, och lät så gå dem.

5 And people told to David and he sent to meet them for they were the men humiliated very and he said the king remain at Jericho until it will grow back beard your and you will return.

Då det vardt bådadt David, sände han emot dem; förty männerna voro ganska mycket skämde. Och Konungen lät säga dem: Blifver i Jericho tilldess edart skägg växer, och kommer så igen.

6 And they saw [the] people of Ammon that they had made themselves odious with David and they sent [the] people of Ammon and they hired Aram Beth Rehob and Aram Zobah twenty thousand foot soldier[s] and [the] king of Maacah one thousand man and [the] man of Tob two [plus] ten thousand man.

Då nu Ammons barn sågo, att de voro illa luktande vordne för David, sände de bort, och lejde sig de Syrer af Rehobs hus, och de Syrer i Zoba, tjugutusend män fotfolk, och af Konung Maacha tusend män, och af Istob tolftusend män.

7 And he heard David and he sent Joab and all the army the warriors.

Då David det hörde, sände han Joab med hela hären af krigsfolket.

8 And they went out [the] people of Ammon and they deployed battle [the] entrance of the gate and Aram Zobah and Rehob and [the] man of Tob and Maacah to alone them [were] in the open country.

Och Ammons barn drogo ut, och skickade sig till strid ut för stadsporten; men de Syrer af Zoba, af Rehob, af Istob, och af Maacha, voro allena i markene.

9 And he saw Joab that it was against him [the] face of the battle from before and from behind and he chose some of all [the] chosen [men] (of Israel *Q(K)*) and he deployed [them] to meet Aram.

Då nu Joab såg, att striden var ställd på honom både bak och före, utvalde han utaf alla de unga män i Israel, och skickade sig emot de Syrer.

10 And [the] rest of the people he put in [the] hand of Abishai brother his and he deployed [them] to meet [the] people of Ammon.

Och det andra folket lät han under sins broders hand Abisai, och han skickade sig emot de Ammons barn;

11 And he said if it will be [too] strong Aram for me and you will become of me deliverance and if [the] people of Ammon they will be [too] strong for you and I will come to deliver you.

Och sade: Om de Syrer varda mig för mägtige, så kom mig till hjelp; om Ammons barn varda dig öfvermägtige, så vill jag komma dig till hjelp.

12 Be strong so we may show ourselves strong for people our and for [the] cities of God our and Yahweh he will do the good in view his.

Var vid god tröst, och låt oss stå fasta för vårt folk och för vår Guds städer; men Herren göre hvad honom täckes.

13 And he drew near Joab and the people which [was] with him for battle in Aram and they fled from before him.

Och Joab drog åstad med det folk, som när honom var, till att strida emot de Syrer; och de flydde för honom.

14 And [the] people of Ammon they saw that it had fled Aram and they fled from before Abishai and they went the city and he returned Joab from on [the] people of Ammon and he came Jerusalem.

Och då Ammons barn sågo, att de Syrer flydde, flydde de ock för Abisai, och drogo in i staden. Så vände Joab om ifrån Ammons barn, och kom till Jerusalem.

15 And it saw Aram that it was defeated before Israel and they gathered themselves together.

Och då de Syrer sågo, att de voro slagne för Israel, församlade de sig tillhopa.

16 And he sent Hadadezer and he brought out Aram which [was] from [the] other side of the River and they came Helam and Shobach [the] commander of [the] army of Hadadezer [was] before them.

Och HadarEser sände bort, och lät utkomma de Syrer på hinsidon älfven; och lät deras magt inkomma; och Sobach, HadarEsers härhöfvitsman, drog för dem.

17 And it was told to David. And he gathered all Israel and he passed over the Jordan and he came Helam towards and they deployed Aram to meet David and they did battle with him.

Då det vardt bådadt David, församlade han tillhopa hela Israel, och drog öfver Jordan, och kom till Helam; och de Syrer skickade sig emot David, till att strida med honom.

18 And it fled Aram from before Israel and he killed David of Aram seven hundred charioteer[s] and forty thousand horsemen and Shobach [the] commander of army its he struck down and he died there.

Men de Syrer flydde för Israel, och David slog ihjäl de Syrer sjuhundrad vagnar, och fyratiotusend resenärar; dertill slog han Sobach härhöfvitsmannen, så att han blef der död.

19 And they saw all the kings [the] servants of Hadadezer that they were defeated before Israel and they made peace with Israel and they served them and they were afraid Aram to deliver again [the] people of Ammon.

Då nu de Konungar, som voro under HadarEser, sågo att de slagne voro för Israel, gjorde de frid med Israel, och vordo dem underdånige; och de Syrer fruktade sig mer hjelpa Ammons barn.
