2 Kings 19
1 And it was when heard the king Hezekiah and he tore clothes his and he covered himself with sackcloth and he went [the] house of Yahweh.
Lorsque le roi Ezéchias les eut entendus, il déchira ses vêtements, et, couvert d’un cilice, il se rendit dans la maison de Dieu.
2 And he sent Eliakim who [was] over the house and Shebna the scribe and [the] elders of the priests covered with sackcloth to Isaiah the prophet [the] son of Amoz.
Puis il envoya Elyakim, l’intendant du palais, Chebna, le secrétaire, et les plus anciens des prêtres, enveloppés d’un cilice, auprès du prophète Isaïe, fils d’Amoç,
3 And they said to him thus he says Hezekiah [is] a day of distress and rebuke and insult the day this for they have come children to birth and [is] strength there not for giving birth.
avec ce message: "Ainsi parle Ezéchias: C’Est aujourd’hui un jour d’angoisse, de châtiment et d’humiliation; les enfants sont près, de naître, mais point de force pour enfanter!
4 Perhaps he will hear Yahweh God your - all [the] words of [the] chief commander whom he sent him [the] king of Assyria - master his to taunt [the] God living and he will rebuke the words which he has heard Yahweh God your and you will lift up prayer for the remnant which is found.
Peut-être l’Eternel, ton Dieu, accordera-t-il son attention à toutes les paroles de Rabchakè, envoyé par le roi d’Assyrie, son maître, pour outrager le Dieu vivant, et voudra-t-il demander compte de ces paroles qu’il a entendues. Prie donc en faveur des débris qui subsistent encore."
5 And they came [the] servants of the king Hezekiah to Isaiah.
Les serviteurs du roi Ezéchias se rendirent auprès d’Isaïe.
6 And he said to them Isaiah thus you will say! to master your thus - he says Yahweh may not you be afraid of the words which you have heard which they have blasphemed [the] servants of [the] king of Assyria me.
Celui-ci leur dit: "Vous parlerez ainsi à votre maître: Ne sois pas effrayé, dit l’Eternel, des paroles que tu as entendues, des blasphèmes proférés contre moi par les jeunes gens du roi d’Assyrie.
7 Here I [am] about to put in him a spirit and he will hear a report and he will return to own land his and I will make fall him by the sword in own land his.
Je lui inspirerai la résolution de retourner dans son pays à la suite d’une nouvelle qui lui parviendra; là, je le ferai périr par le glaive."
8 And he returned [the] chief commander and he found [the] king of Assyria fighting on Libnah if he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.
Lorsque Rabchakè revint auprès du roi d’Assyrie, il le trouva aux prises avec Libna; il avait, en effet, appris son départ de Lakhich.
9 And he heard concerning Tirhakah [the] king of Cush saying there! he has come out to do battle with you and he returned and he sent messengers to Hezekiah saying.
Or, le roi d’Assyrie reçut l’information suivante "Tirhaka, roi d’Ethiopie, marche contre toi pour te combattre." Il envoya alors de nouveaux messagers auprès d’Ezéchias avec cet ordre:
10 Thus you will say! to Hezekiah [the] king of Judah saying may not he deceive you God your whom you [are] trusting in him saying not it will be given Jerusalem in [the] hand of [the] king of Assyria.
"Vous parlerez à Ezéchias, roi de Juda, en ces termes: Ne te laisse pas tromper par ton Dieu, en qui tu mets ta confiance, en te disant que Jérusalem ne tombera pas au pouvoir du roi d’Assyrie.
11 Here! - you you have heard [that] which they have done [the] kings of Assyria to all the lands by totally destroying them and you will you be delivered?
Certes, toi aussi tu as appris les exploits accomplis par les rois d’Assyrie dans tous les pays qu’ils ont dévastés. Et toi tu serais sauvé!
12 ¿ Did they deliver them [the] gods of the nations which they destroyed fathers my Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and [the] people of Eden who [were] in Telassar.
Les dieux ont-ils pu assurer le salut des peuplades que mes ancêtres ont anéanties: Gozân et Haran, Récéf et les Benê-Eden établis à Telassar?
13 Where [is]? he [the] king of Hamath and [the] king of Arpad and [the] king of Lair Sepharvaim Hena and Ivvah.
Où est le roi de Hamat, le roi d’Arpad, le roi de Laïr. Sefarvayim, Hèna et Ivva?"
14 And he took Hezekiah the letters from [the] hand of the messengers and he read them and he went up [the] house of Yahweh and he spread out it Hezekiah before Yahweh.
Ezéchias prit la lettre de la main des messagers et, après l’avoir lue, il se rendit dans la maison de Dieu et déploya cette lettre devant l’Eternel.
15 And he prayed Hezekiah before Yahweh and he said O Yahweh [the] God of Israel [who] sits the cherubim you he [are] God to alone you of all [the] kingdoms of the earth you you made the heavens and the earth.
Puis Ezéchias adressa la prière suivante à l’Eternel "Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, toi qui trônes sur les chérubins, tu es le seul Dieu de tous les royaumes de l’univers, c’est toi qui as créé le ciel et la terre.
16 Incline O Yahweh - ear your and hear open O Yahweh eyes your and see and hear [the] words of Sennacherib which he has sent it to taunt [the] God living.
Seigneur, prête l’oreille et écoute, ouvre les yeux et regarde! Accorde ton attention au message envoyé par Sennachérib pour blasphémer le Dieu vivant!
17 Truly O Yahweh they have made desolate [the] kings of Assyria the nations and land their.
Il est vrai, Eternel, que les rois d’Assyrie ont ruiné les peuples avec leurs territoires,
18 And they have put gods their in the fire for not [were] gods they that except [the] work of [the] hands of humankind wood and stone and they have destroyed them.
et ont livré leurs divinités aux flammes. Mais ce n’étaient point des dieux, c’étaient des œuvres fabriquées par l’homme, du bois et de la pierre; on les a donc anéanties.
19 And now O Yahweh God our save us please from hand his so they may know all [the] kingdoms of the earth that you O Yahweh [are] God to alone you.
Et maintenant, protège-nous contre lui, Eternel, notre Dieu, afin que tous les royaumes de la terre reconnaissent que seul, ô Seigneur, tu es Dieu."
20 And he sent Isaiah [the] son of Amoz to Hezekiah saying thus he says Yahweh [the] God of Israel [that] which you prayed to me concerning Sennacherib [the] king of Assyria I have heard.
Isaïe, fils d’Amoç, manda à Ezéchias: "Ainsi parle l’Eternel, le Dieu d’Israël: J’Ai entendu la prière que tu m’as adressée au sujet de Sennachérib, roi d’Assyrie.
21 This [is] the word which he has spoken Yahweh on him she has despised you she has mocked you [the] virgin of [the] daughter of Zion behind you a head she has shaken [the] daughter of Jerusalem.
Voici l’oracle prononcé sur lui par l’Eternel: "Elle te dédaigne, se rit de toi, la vierge, fille de Sion; elle hoche la tête après toi, la fille de Jérusalem.
22 Whom? have you taunted and have you blasphemed? and on whom? have you lifted up a voice and have you lifted up? height eyes your on [the] holy [one] of Israel.
A qui vont tes blasphèmes et insultes? Contre qui élèves-tu la voix? Tu as porté haut tes regards contre le Saint d’Israël.
23 By [the] hand of messengers your you have taunted - [the] Lord and you have said (with [the] abundance of *Q(K)*) chariotry my I I have gone up [the] height[s] of mountains [the] remotest parts of Lebanon so I may cut down [the] height of cedars its [the] choice of pines its and I went [the] lodging place of (end its *Q(K)*) [the] forest of plantation its.
Par tes émissaires, tu as outragé Dieu; tu as dit: "Avec mes nombreux chars j’ai escaladé la cime des montagnes, les pentes escarpées du Liban; j’abats ses cèdres superbes, ses plus beaux cyprès; j’atteins le gîte de son dernier sommet, ses taillis les plus touffus.
24 I I have dug and I have drunk water strange so I may dry up with [the] sole of feet my all [the] canals of Egypt.
J’Ai fait jaillir des sources, et bu des eaux étrangères; sous la plante de mes pieds je mets à sec tous les canaux de l’Egypte.
25 ¿ Not have you heard from distant [time] it I appointed from days of antiquity and I planned it now I have brought it and you are [about] to make desolate heaps ruined cities fortified.
N’As-tu pas compris que j’ai tout résolu de loin, préparé ces événements dès les temps antiques? Maintenant je les ai suscités, pour que, détruites par toi, des villes fortes se changent en monceaux de ruines.
26 And inhabitants their [were] short of hand they were dismayed and they were ashamed they were [the] vegetation of [the] field and greenery of grass grass of roofs and scorching before standing grain.
Leurs habitants, réduits à l’impuissance, ont été frappés de terreur et de confusion, semblables à l’herbe des champs, au vert gazon, à la mousse des toits et au blé flétri avant de monter en épis.
27 And sitting down you and going out you and coming you I know and raging you against me.
Que tu demeures chez toi, que tu entreprennes des expéditions, je le saisi comme je connais tes emportements contre moi.
28 Because raging you against me and arrogance your it has come up in ears my and I will put hook my in nose your and bridle my on lips your and I will bring back you by the way which you came by it.
Puisque tu t’emportes contre moi, et que tes discours arrogants sont montés à mes oreilles, je fixerai mon anneau à ton nez et mon mors entre tes lèvres, et te ferai reprendre le chemin par où tu es venu."
29 And this for you [will be] the sign you will eat this year self-sown grain and in the year second self-seeded plant[s] and in the year third sow and reap and plant vineyards and eat fruit their.
Et ceci te servira de signe: cette année on mangera le produit spontané des champs, la seconde année ce qui repoussera encore de soi-même, mais la troisième année, vous ferez des semailles et des récoltes, vous planterez des vignes et en consommerez le produit.
30 And it will add [the] escaped remnant of [the] house of Judah which remains a root downwards and it will produce fruit upwards.
Les débris qui ont survécu de la maison de Juda étendront de nouvelles racines sous la terre et porteront des fruits au-dessus.
31 For from Jerusalem it will go out a remnant and an escaped remnant from [the] mountain of Zion [the] zeal of (Yahweh of hosts *Q(K)*) it will accomplish this.
Oui, un reste refleurira à Jérusalem et des débris sur la montagne de Sion: voilà ce que réalisera l’amour de l’Eternel-Cebaot.
32 Therefore thus he says Yahweh concerning [the] king of Assyria not he will come into the city this and not he will shoot there an arrow and not he will confront it a shield and not he will pour out on it a mound.
Aussi l’Eternel a-t-il fait cette déclaration au sujet du roi d’Assyrie: "Il ne pénétrera pas dans cette ville, n’y lancera aucune flèche, ne lui opposera pas un seul bouclier, et n’établira pas de redoute contre elle.
33 By the way which he came by it he will return and into the city this not he will come [the] utterance of Yahweh.
Il reprendra le chemin par où il est venu, mais dans cette ville (dit l’Eternel) Il n’entrera pas.
34 And I will defend the city this to deliver it for own sake my and for [the] sake of David servant my.
Car je la protégerai, cette ville, pour son salut, en faveur de moi et de mon serviteur David."
35 And it was in the night that and he went out - [the] angel of Yahweh and he struck down in [the] camp of Assyria one hundred eighty and five thousand and they rose early in the morning and there! all of them [were] corpses dead.
Cette même nuit, un ange du Seigneur se rendit au camp assyrien et y fit périr cent quatre-vingt-cinq mille hommes; en se levant le matin, on aperçut tous ces cadavres.
36 And he departed and he went and he returned Sennacherib [the] king of Assyria and he remained in Nineveh.
Sennachérib, roi d’Assyrie, leva alors le camp, prit le chemin du retour et s’arrêta à Ninive.
37 And it was he [was] bowing down [the] house of - Nisroch god his and Adrammelech (and Sharezer sons his *Q(K)*) they struck down him with the sword and they they escaped [the] land of Ararat and he became king Esar-haddon son his in place of him.
Là, pendant qu’il était prosterné dans le temple de son dieu Nisrokh, Adrammélec et Charécér, ses fils, le frappèrent de leur glaive et s’enfuirent dans le pays d’Ararat. Ce fut son fils Essar-Haddôn qui lui succéda.
