2 Chronicles 14
1 And he lay down Abijah with ancestors his and people buried him in [the] city of David and he became king Asa son his in place of him in days his it was at peace the land ten years.
Og Abia la sig til hvile hos sine fedre og blev begravet i Davids stad, og hans sønn Asa blev konge i hans sted. I hans dager hadde landet ro i ti år.
2 And he did Asa the good and the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh God his.
Asa gjorde hvad godt og rett var i Herrens, hans Guds øine.
3 And he removed [the] altars of foreignness and the high places and he broke down the sacred pillars and he cut down the Asherah poles.
Han fikk bort de fremmede guders altere og offerhaugene og sønderbrøt støttene og hugg Astartebilledene i stykker.
4 And he said to Judah to seek Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their and to observe the law and the commandment.
Og han bød Juda å søke Herren, deres fedres Gud, og holde loven og budene.
5 And he removed from all [the] cities of Judah the high places and the incense altars and it was at peace the kingdom before him.
I alle Judas byer fikk han bort offerhaugene og solstøttene, og riket hadde ro under ham.
6 And he built cities of fortification in Judah for it was at peace the land and there not with him [was] war in the years these for he had given rest Yahweh to him.
Han bygget festninger i Juda; for landet hadde ro, og ingen førte krig mot ham i de år, fordi Herren gav ham ro.
7 And he said to Judah let us build - the cities these and let us surround [them] wall and towers gates and bars still it the land [is] before us for we have sought Yahweh God our we sought [him] and he has given rest to us from round about and they built and they prospered.
Han sa til Juda: La oss bygge disse byer og reise murer og tårner, porter og bommer omkring dem! Ennu råder vi fritt over landet, fordi vi har søkt Herren vår Gud; vi har søkt ham, og han har gitt oss ro på alle kanter. Så tok de til å bygge, og det lyktes for dem.
8 And it belonged to Asa an army bearing body shield[s] and spear[s] from Judah three hundred thousand. And of Benjamin [those who] carry a shield and [those who] bend a bow two hundred and eighty thousand all these [were] mighty [men] of strength.
Asas hær var tre hundre tusen mann av Juda, som var væbnet med spyd og store skjold, og to hundre og åtti tusen av Benjamin, som bar små skjold og skjøt med bue; de var alle djerve stridsmenn.
9 And he came out against them Zerah the Cushite with an army a thousand thousand and chariots three hundred and he came to Mareshah.
Men etioperen Serah drog ut imot dem med en hær på tusen ganger tusen mann og tre hundre stridsvogner, og han kom til Maresa.
10 And he went out Asa before him and they drew up in formation battle in [the] valley of Zephathah to Mareshah.
Og Asa drog ut imot ham, og de stilte sig i fylking i Sefata-dalen ved Maresa.
11 And he called out Asa to Yahweh God his and he said O Yahweh there not [is] with you to help between great and not strength help us O Yahweh God our for on you we depend and in name your we have come on the multitude this O Yahweh [are] God our you may not he retain with you a man.
Da ropte Asa til Herren sin Gud og sa: Herre, for dig gjør det ingen forskjell, enten du hjelper den mektige eller den maktesløse. Hjelp oss, Herre vår Gud! Til dig setter vi vår lit, og i ditt navn er vi gått mot denne store mengde. Herre, du er vår Gud; la ikke et menneske stå sig imot dig!
12 And he defeated Yahweh the Cushites before Asa and before Judah and they fled the Cushites.
Da lot Herren etioperne bli slått av Asa og Juda, og etioperne flyktet.
13 And he pursued them Asa and the people which [was] with him to to Gerar and it fell of [the] Cushites to not [belonged] to them preservation for they had been broken before Yahweh and before army his and they carried off booty much very.
Asa og hans folk forfulgte dem like til Gerar, og av etioperne falt det så mange at ingen av dem blev i live; de blev knust av Herren og hans hær. Og de førte et umåtelig stort hærfang bort med sig.
14 And they struck down all the cities around Gerar for it was [the] dread of Yahweh on them and they plundered all the cities for plunder much it was in them.
Og de inntok alle byene rundt omkring Gerar, for frykt for Herren var kommet over dem, og de plyndret alle byene, for det var meget å plyndre i dem.
15 And also [the] tents of livestock they struck down and they took captive sheep to abundance and camels and they returned Jerusalem.
Endog teltene for buskapen tok de, og de førte bort en mengde med småfe og kameler, og så vendte de tilbake til Jerusalem.
