2 Chronicles 10
1 And he went Rehoboam Shechem towards for Shechem they had come all Israel to make king him.
Rô-bô-am đến Si-chem vì toàn dân Ít-ra-ên đã tập họp tại đó để tôn người lên làm vua.
2 And it was when heard Jeroboam [the] son of Nebat and he [was] in Egypt where he had fled from before Solomon the king and he returned Jeroboam from Egypt.
Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát, nghe được tin này, vội từ Ai Cập trở về, vì ông đã chạy sang Ai-Cập để tránh Sa-lô-môn.
3 And people sent and they summoned him and he came Jeroboam and all Israel and they spoke to Rehoboam saying.
Các lãnh đạo của Ít-ra-ên cũng đã tự động gọi Giê-rô-bô-am về. Vậy, Giê-rô-bô-am hợp với toàn dân trình thỉnh nguyện này lên Rô-bô-am:
4 Father your he made hard yoke our and therefore lighten some of [the] labor of father your hard and some of yoke his heavy which he put on us and we will serve you.
“Cha vua đặt chiếc ách nặng nề trên cổ dân. Bây giờ kính xin vua giảm bớt sưu dịch hà khắc và cái ách trên cổ chúng tôi, chúng tôi sẽ phục vụ vua.”
5 And he said to them again three days and return to me and it went the people.
Rô-bô-am đáp: “Ba ngày nữa, các ngươi trở lại đây, ta sẽ trả lời.” Toàn dân giải tán về nhà.
6 And he consulted the king Rehoboam with the elders who they had been standing before Solomon father his when was he alive saying how? [are] you counseling to bring back to the people this word.
Vua Rô-bô-am thảo luận vấn đề này với những quân sư lớn tuổi là những đại thần từng phục vụ Sa-lô-môn, cha vua: “Các ông góp ý xem ta nên trả lời dân cách nào?”
7 And they spoke to him saying if you will become good to the people this and you will be favorable to them and you will speak to them words kind and they will be of you servants all the days.
Các lão thần tâu: “Nếu vua đối đãi nhân hậu với dân, thỏa mãn nguyện vọng của họ, và nói những lời dịu dàng với họ, họ sẽ làm tôi vua mãi mãi.”
8 And he abandoned [the] counsel of the elders which they had counseled him and he consulted with the youths who they had grown up with him who stood before him.
Nhưng Rô-bô-am không nghe lời khuyên của các lão thần, lại đi hỏi ý kiến những người trẻ tuổi là bạn đồng trang lứa và đang phục vụ mình.
9 And he said to them what? [are] you counseling and we may bring back word the people this who they have spoken to me saying lighten some of the yoke which he put father your on us.
Vua hỏi: “Các bạn khuyên ta nên giải quyết cách nào lời thỉnh nguyện của dân xin giảm nhẹ ách mà vua cha đặt trên cổ họ?”
10 And they spoke with him the youths who they had grown up with him saying thus you will say to the people which they have spoken to you saying father your he made heavy yoke our and you lighten from on us thus you will say to them little finger my it is thick more than [the] loins of father my.
Bọn trẻ tuổi cùng trang lứa với vua tâu: “Vua hãy trả lời những người nói xin làm cho ách ấy nhẹ hơn rằng: ‘Ngón tay út của ta còn lớn hơn lưng của cha ta!
11 And therefore father my he loaded on you a yoke heavy and I I will add to yoke your father my he disciplined you with whips and I with scorpions.
Cha ta đã đặt trên cổ các ngươi một cái ách nặng nề, ta sẽ làm cho cái ách đó còn nặng hơn nữa! Cha ta đánh phạt các ngươi bằng roi, ta sẽ đánh phạt các ngươi bằng bò cạp!’”
12 And he came Jeroboam and all the people to Rehoboam on the day third just as he had spoken the king saying return to me on the day third.
Ba ngày sau, Giê-rô-bô-am và toàn dân lại kéo đến gặp Rô-bô-am như lời vua dặn.
13 And he answered them the king hard and he abandoned the king Rehoboam [the] counsel of the elders.
Nhưng Rô-bô-am trả lời họ một cách gay gắt, vì vua bác bỏ lời khuyên của khôn ngoan của các bậc lão thần
14 And he spoke to them according to [the] counsel of the young men saying I will make heavy yoke your and I I will add to it father my he disciplined you with whips and I with scorpions.
để nghe theo cố vấn của bọn trẻ tuổi. Vua nói với dân chúng: “Cha ta đã đặt cái ách nặng nề trên cổ các ngươi, ta sẽ làm cho cái ách đó nặng hơn nữa! Cha ta đã đánh phạt các ngươi bằng roi, ta sẽ đánh phạt các ngươi bằng bò cạp!”
15 And not he listened the king to the people for it was a turn from with God so as to establish Yahweh word his which he had spoken by [the] hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam [the] son of Nebat.
Thế là vua bác bỏ lời thỉnh nguyện của toàn dân. Sự việc xảy ra như thế là do Đức Chúa Trời khiến để ứng nghiệm lời Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phán với Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai Nê-bát, qua Tiên tri A-hi-gia, người Si-lô.
16 And all Israel that not he had listened the king to them and they brought back the people the king - saying what? [belongs] to us portion in David and not an inheritance in [the] son of Jesse everyone to tents your O Israel now consider own house your O David and it went all Israel to tents its.
Khi toàn dân Ít-ra-ên nhận thấy vua bác bỏ lời thỉnh nguyện của mình, họ trả lời: “Dân ta có chia phần gì với Đa-vít! Sự nghiệp của dân ta có liên hệ gì với sự nghiệp con trai Gie-sê đâu. Ít-ra-ên! Mỗi người hãy trở về nhà! Nhà Đa-vít! Từ rày về sau hãy coi chừng!” Vậy, toàn dân Ít-ra-ên đều bỏ ra về.
17 And [the] people of Israel who were dwelling in [the] cities of Judah and he reigned over them Rehoboam.
Chỉ có số người Ít-ra-ên trú ngụ trong lãnh thổ Giu-đa vẫn còn phục dưới quyền cai trị của Rô-bô-am.
18 And he sent the king Rehoboam Hadoram who [was] over the forced labor and they stoned him [the] people of Israel stone[s] and he died and the king Rehoboam he proved himself strong to go up in the chariot to flee Jerusalem.
Trong một cố gắng cuối cùng, Vua Rô-bô-am bảo Ha-đô-ram, người phụ trách sưu dịch, ra nói chuyện với Ít-ra-ên, nhưng bị họ ném đá chết. Thấy thế, Vua Rô-bô-am vội vã lên chiến xa trốn về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
19 And they have rebelled Israel against [the] house of David until the day this.
Thế là từ đó các đại tộc phía bắc của Ít-ra-ên chống nghịch nhà Đa-vít.
