1 Thessalonians 2
1 You yourselves for know, brothers, the coming of us to you that not in vain has been;
Car, mes frères, vous savez vous-mêmes que notre entrée au milieu de vous n'a point été vaine.
2 but (and *k*) having previously suffered and having been mistreated even as you know, in Philippi, we had boldness in the God of us to speak to you the gospel of God amid much conflict.
Mais quoique nous eussions été auparavant affligés et outragés à Philippes, comme vous savez, nous avons eu le courage, appuyés sur notre Dieu de vous annoncer l'Evangile de Dieu au milieu de grands combats.
3 For the exhortation of us [is] not of error nor of impurity (nor *N(k)O*) in trickery;
Car il n'y a eu dans l'exhortation que nous vous avons faite, ni séduction, ni mauvais motif, ni fraude.
4 but even as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as men pleasing but (*k*) as God who is examining the hearts of us.
Mais comme nous avons été approuvés de Dieu, afin que [la prédication de] l'Evangile nous fût commise, nous parlons aussi non comme voulant plaire aux hommes, mais à Dieu, qui approuve nos cœurs.
5 Never for at any time with word of flattery were we, even as you know, nor with a pretext for greed — God [is] witness —
Car aussi nous n'avons jamais été surpris en parole de flatterie, comme vous le savez, ni en prétexte d'avarice; Dieu en est témoin.
6 nor seeking from men glory nor from you nor from others, [though] having authority with weight to be as Christ’s apostles;
Et nous n'avons point cherché la gloire de la part des hommes, ni de vous, ni des autres; quoique nous eussions pu montrer de l'autorité comme Apôtres de Christ:
7 But we were (infants *N(K)O*) in [the] midst of you, as (maybe *N(k)O*) a nursing mother shall cherish her own children,
Mais nous avons été doux au milieu de vous, comme une nourrice qui nourrit tendrement ses enfants.
8 So (yearning for *N(k)O*) you we were pleased to have imparted to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because beloved to us (you have become. *N(k)O*)
Etant [donc] ainsi affectionnés envers vous, nous souhaitions de vous donner non-seulement l'Evangile de Dieu, mais aussi nos propres âmes, parce que vous étiez fort aimés de nous.
9 You remember for, brothers, the labor of us and hardship: By night (for *k*) and day working in order not to burden anyone of you we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
Car, mes frères, vous vous souvenez de notre peine et de notre travail; vu que nous vous avons prêché l'Evangile de Dieu, en travaillant nuit et jour, pour n'être point à charge à aucun de vous.
10 You [are] witnesses and God, how holily and righteously and blamelessly toward you those believing we were,
Vous êtes témoins, et Dieu aussi, comment nous nous sommes conduits saintement et justement, et sans reproche envers vous qui croyez;
11 just as you know how one each of you as a father children of himself exhorting you and comforting and (charging *N(k)O*)
Et vous savez que nous avons exhorté chacun de vous, comme un père exhorte ses enfants;
12 unto (to walk *N(k)O*) you worthily of God who is calling you to the His own kingdom and glory.
Et que nous vous avons conjuré de vous conduire dignement, comme il est séant selon Dieu, qui vous appelle à son Royaume et à sa gloire.
13 (And *no*) because of this also we ourselves give thanks to God unceasingly that having received [the] word [by your] hearing from us of God you accepted not [the] word of men but even as it is truly [the] word of God, which also works in you who believe.
C'est pourquoi nous rendons sans cesse grâces à Dieu, de ce que quand vous avez reçu de nous la parole de la prédication de Dieu, vous l'avez reçue non comme une parole des hommes, mais (ainsi qu'elle est véritablement) comme la parole de Dieu, laquelle aussi agit avec efficace en vous qui croyez.
14 you yourselves for imitators became, brothers, of the churches of God which are being in Judea in Christ Jesus, For (the [same] *N(K)O*) (these *N(k)O*) suffered also you yourselves from [your] own countrymen, even as also [did] they from the Jews,
Car, mes frères, vous avez imité les Eglises de Dieu qui sont dans la Judée en Jésus-Christ, parce que vous avez aussi souffert les mêmes choses de ceux de votre propre nation, comme eux aussi de la part des Juifs;
15 who both the Lord having killed Jesus and ([their] own *K*) prophets and (us *NK(O)*) having driven out and God not pleasing and to all men opposed,
Qui ont même mis à mort le Seigneur Jésus, et leurs propres Prophètes, et qui nous ont chassés; et qui déplaisent à Dieu, et qui sont ennemis de tous les hommes:
16 they are hindering us to the Gentiles to speak that they may be saved, so as to fill up their sins always; Has come now upon them the wrath (of the God *O*) to the utmost.
Nous empêchant de parler aux Gentils afin qu'ils soient sauvés; comblant ainsi toujours [la mesure de] leurs péchés. Or la colère [de Dieu] est parvenue sur eux jusqu'au plus haut degré.
17 We ourselves however, brothers, having been bereaved of you for [the] time of an hour in face not in heart, more abundantly were eager the face of you to see with great desire.
Et pour nous, mes frères, qui avons été séparés de vous en un moment de temps, de vue, et non de cœur, nous avons d'autant plus tâché de vous aller voir, que nous en avions un fort grand désir:
18 (therefore *N(k)O*) we wanted to come to you — I myself indeed Paul both once and twice — and hindered us Satan.
C'est pourquoi nous avons voulu aller vers vous, au moins moi Paul, une ou deux fois; mais Satan nous en a empêchés.
19 Who [is] for our hope or joy or crown of boasting? Except only even you before the Lord of us Jesus (Christ *K*) at His coming?
Car quelle est notre espérance, ou notre joie, ou notre couronne de gloire? n'est-ce pas vous qui l'êtes devant notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ [au jour] de son avènement?
20 You yourselves for are the glory of us and joy.
Certes vous êtes notre gloire et notre joie.
