< 1 Samuel 14 >
1 And it was the day and he said Jonathan [the] son of Saul to the young man [the] bearer of armor his come! so let us pass over to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines which [is] from [the] other side of this and to father his not he told.
Na i tetahi o aua ra ka mea a Honatana, tama a Haora, ki te taitama e mau ana i ana patu, Haere mai, taua ka whiti atu ki nga hoia pupuri a nga Pirihitini i tawahi ra. Otiia kihai i korerotia e ia ki tona papa.
2 And Saul [was] remaining at [the] edge of Gibeah under pomegranate tree which [is] in Migron and the people which [was] with him [was] about six hundred man.
A i tera pito o Kipea a Haora e noho ana i raro i tetahi pamekaranete i Mikirono: tata tonu ana tangata ki te ono nga rau;
3 And Ahijah [the] son of Ahitub [the] brother of Ichabod - [the] son of Phinehas [the] son of Eli [the] priest of - Yahweh in Shiloh [was] bearing an ephod and the people not it knew that he had gone Jonathan.
Me Ahia ano hoki, tama a Ahitupu, tuakana o Ikaporo, tama a Pinehaha, tama a Eri tohunga a Ihowa i Hiro, ko te kaikakahu ia o te epora. Na kihai te iwi i mohio kua riro a Honatana.
4 And [were] between the passes which he sought Jonathan to pass over to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines [the] tooth of the rock from the other side from this and [the] tooth of the rock from the other side from this and [the] name of the one [was] Bozez and [the] name of the one [was] Seneh.
Na, i waenga o nga whitinga i whai ai a Honatana kia whiti atu ki nga hoia pupuri a nga Pirihitini, tera tetahi pari kohatu i tetahi taha, he pari kohatu hoki i tetahi taha: ko te ingoa o tetahi ko Potete, ko te ingoa o tetahi ko Henehe.
5 The tooth the one a pillar [was] from [the] north opposite to Micmash and the one [tooth] [was] from [the] south opposite to Geba.
I te raki tetahi pari e tu ana, i te ritenga atu o Mikimaha; i te tonga tetahi, i te ritenga atu o Kipea.
6 And he said Jonathan to the young man - [the] bearer of armor his come! so let us pass over to [the] garrison of the uncircumcised [men] these perhaps he will act Yahweh for us for not [belongs] to Yahweh a limitation to save by many or by few.
7 And he said to him [the] bearer of armor his do all that [is] in heart your turn aside for yourself here I [am] with you according to heart your.
Ano ra ko te kaimau o ana patu ki a ia, Meatia nga mea katoa e paingia ana e tou ngakau: anga atu, tenei ahau hei hoa mou, hei pera me ta tou ngakau e pai ai.
8 And he said Jonathan here! we [are] about to pass over to the men and we will reveal ourselves to them.
Ano ra ko Honatana, Nana, me haere atu taua ki nga tangata ra, me whakaputa atu hoki ki a ratou.
9 If thus they will say to us be still until reach we you and we will remain in place our and not we will go up to them.
Ki te penei mai ta ratou ki a taua, Tu marie, kia tae atu ra ano matou ki a korua; na me tu taua i to taua turanga, e kore ano e piki ki a ratou.
10 And if thus they will say come up to us and we will go up for he has given them Yahweh in hand our and this for us [will be] the sign.
11 And they revealed themselves [the] two of them to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines and they said [the] Philistines here! Hebrews [are] coming out from the holes where they have hidden themselves there.
Na ka puta raua tokorua ki nga hoia pupuri a nga Pirihitini: a ka mea nga Pirihitini, Nana, ko nga Hiperu e puta mai ana i roto i nga rua i piri ai ratou.
12 And they answered [the] men of the garrison Jonathan - and [the] bearer of armor his and they said come up to us so let us make known to you something. And he said Jonathan to [the] bearer of armor his come up after me for he has given them Yahweh in [the] hand of Israel.
13 And he went up Jonathan on hands his and on feet his and [the] bearer of armor his [was] behind him and they fell before Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his [was] killing behind him.
Na ka piki atu a Honatana, he mea ngoki atu, me tana kaimau patu i muri i a ia: na hinga ana ratou i a Honatana, me te patu ano te kaimau patu i muri i a ia.
14 And it was the slaughter first which he struck down Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his about twenty man about in half of a furrow an acre of a field.
15 And it was trembling in the camp in the field and among all the people the garrison and the destroyer they trembled also they and it quaked the earth and it became a trembling of God.
16 And they saw the watchmen of Saul at Gibeah of Benjamin and there! the multitude it melted away and it went and here.
17 And he said Saul to the people which [was] with him muster please and see who? has he gone from with us and they mustered and there! there not [were] Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his.
Katahi a Haora ka mea ki te iwi i reira, i a ia, Tatauria tatou kia kitea ko wai kua riro. A, no ka tatauria e ratou, na kahore a Honatana raua ko tana kaimau patu i reira.
18 And he said Saul to Ahijah bring near! [the] ark of God for it was [the] ark of God on the day that and [the] people of Israel.
Na ka mea a Haora ki a Ahia, Kawea mai te aaka a te Atua. I nga tama hoki a Iharaira te aaka a te Atua i taua wa.
19 And it was until he spoke Saul to the priest and the tumult which [was] in [the] camp of [the] Philistines and it went continuously and great. And he said Saul to the priest withdraw hand your.
20 And he was called together Saul and all the people which [was] with him and they went to the battle and there! it was [the] sword of each man in neighbor his panic [was] great very.
21 And the Hebrews they [who] were [belonging] to the Philistines as yesterday three days ago who they had gone up with them in the camp all around and also they to be with Israel which [was] with Saul and Jonathan.
22 And every person of Israel who had hidden themselves in [the] hill country of Ephraim they heard that they had fled [the] Philistines and they pursued closely also they after them in the battle.
23 And he delivered Yahweh on the day that Israel and the battle it passed beyond Beth Aven.
Heoi whakaorangia ana a Iharaira, i taua ra e Ihowa: a puta ke ana te whawhai ki Peteawene.
24 And [the] man of Israel he was hard pressed on the day that and he had put under oath Saul the people saying [be] cursed the person who he will eat food until the evening and I will avenge myself from enemies my and not it tasted all the people food.
25 And all the land they went in the forest and it was honey on [the] surface of the field.
26 And it came the people into the forest and there! a flowing of honey and there not [was one who] reached hand his to mouth his for it feared the people the oath.
27 And Jonathan not he had heard when made to swear an oath father his the people and he stretched out [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand his and he dipped it in [the] honeycomb of the honey and he brought back hand his to mouth his (and they brightened *Q(K)*) eyes his.
28 And he answered a person from the people and he said certainly he made to swear an oath father your the people saying [be] cursed the person who he will eat food this day and it was weary the people.
Katahi ka oho tetahi o te iwi, a ka mea, I tino whakaoatitia te iwi e tou papa; i mea ia, Kia kanga te tangata e kai ana i tetahi kai aianei; a e hemo ana te iwi.
29 And he said Jonathan he has troubled father my the land see please that they brightened eyes my for I tasted a little of honey this.
Katahi a Honatana ka mea, Raru ana te whenua nei i toku papa: titiro hoki, kua marama oku kanohi, noku i kai i tetahi wahi iti o te honi nei.
30 Indeed? for certainly [if] it had eaten this day the people any of [the] plunder of enemies its which it found for now not it has been great defeat among the Philistines.
Tera noa ake mehemea pea i kai noa atu te iwi inaianei i nga mea i pahuatia mai i o ratou hoariri i tupono atu ai ratou? ko tenei kahore i rahi te parekura o nga Pirihitini.
31 And they defeated on the day that the Philistines from Micmash Aijalon towards and it was weary the people exceedingly.
Na patua iho e ratou nga Pirihitini i taua rangi i Mikimaha atu a tae noa ki Aitarono: a e tino hemo ana te iwi.
32 (And it rushed *Q(K)*) the people to (the plunder *Q(K)*) and they took sheep and cattle and [the] young of cattle and they slaughtered [them] [the] ground towards and it ate [them] the people with the blood.
33 And people told to Saul saying there! the people [are] sinning to Yahweh by eating with the blood and he said you have acted treacherously roll to me this day a stone great.
Katahi ka korerotia ki a Haora ka meatia, Nana, kua hara te iwi ki a Ihowa, e kainga tahitia ana ta ratou kai me nga toto. Na ka mea ia, He mahi hianga ta koutou: hurihia mai he kohatu nui ki ahau aianei.
34 And he said Saul be scattered among the people and you will say to them bring near to me each one ox his and each one sheep his and you will slaughter [it] in this [place] and you will eat [it] and not you will sin to Yahweh by eating with the blood and they brought near all the people each one ox his in hand his this night and they slaughtered [it] there.
35 And he built Saul an altar to Yahweh it he began to build an altar to Yahweh.
Na ka hanga e Haora he aata ma Ihowa. Koia tenei ko te aata tuatahi i hanga e ia ma Ihowa.
36 And he said Saul let us go down after [the] Philistines - night and let us plunder them - until [the] light of the morning and not we will leave among them anyone and people said all the good in view your do. And he said the priest let us draw near here to God.
37 And he enquired Saul by God ¿ will I go down after [the] Philistines ¿ will you give them in [the] hand of Israel and not he answered him on the day that.
Otiia kahore he kupu i whakahokia ki a ia i taua ra.
38 And he said Saul draw near here O all [the] corners of the people and know and see how? has it happened the sin this this day.
Na ka mea a Haora, Neke mai, e nga rangatira katoa o te iwi: kia mohio ai, kia kite ai koutou no hea tenei hara i tenei ra.
39 For [by] [the] life of Yahweh who delivers Israel for except there it [is] in Jonathan son my for certainly he will die and not [was] answering him any of all the people.
Ta te mea, e ora ana a Ihowa e whakaora nei i a Iharaira, ahakoa no taku tama, no Honatana, ka mate ia, mate rawa.
40 And he said to all Israel you you will be to a side one and I and Jonathan son my we will be to a side one and they said the people to Saul the good in view your do.
Katahi ia ka mea ki a Iharaira katoa, Hei tetahi taha koutou, hei tetahi taha maua ko taku tama, ko Honatana. Na ka mea te iwi ki a Haora, Meatia ra te mea e pai ana ki tou whakaaro.
41 And he said Saul to Yahweh [the] God of Israel (why? not you did answer servant your the day if there in me or in Jonathan son my the iniquity this Yahweh [the] God [of] Israel give! Urim and if is it the iniquity this in people your [of] Israel *X*) give! Thummim and he was taken by lot Jonathan and Saul and the people they went out.
42 And he said Saul make fall between me and between Jonathan son my and he was taken by lot Jonathan.
43 And he said Saul to Jonathan tell! to me what? have you done and he told to him Jonathan and he said certainly I tasted with [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand my a little of honey here I I will die.
44 And he said Saul thus may he do God and thus may he add for certainly you will die O Jonathan.
Ano ra ko Haora, Kia meatia tenei e te Atua, tera atu ano hoki; ka mate rawa hoki koe, e Honatana.
45 And it said the people to Saul ¿ Jonathan - will he die who he has done the deliverance great this in Israel far be it [by] [the] life of Yahweh if it will fall one of [the] hair[s] of head his [the] ground towards for with God he has acted the day this and they redeemed the people Jonathan and not he died.
He oi whakaorangia ana a Honatana e te iwi, a kihai i mate.
46 And he went up Saul from after [the] Philistines and [the] Philistines they went to own place their.
Katahi ka hoki a Haora i te whai i nga Pirihitini; a haere ana nga Pirihitini ki to ratou na wahi.
47 And Saul he had taken the kingship over Israel and he waged war all around - against all enemies his against Moab - and against [the] people of Ammon and against Edom and against [the] kings of Zobah and against the Philistines and in every where he turned he acted wickedly.
48 And he did strength and he defeated Amalek and he delivered Israel from [the] hand of [those who] plundered it.
A i puta tona toa, a patua ana nga Amareki, a ora ake i a ia a Iharaira i te ringa o ona kaipahua.
49 And they were [the] sons of Saul Jonathan and Ishvi and Malki-Shua and [the] name of [the] two daughters his [the] name of the firstborn [was] Merab and [the] name of the young [one] [was] Michal.
Na ko nga tama a Haora, ko Honatana, ko Ihui, ko Marikihua; a, ko nga ingoa enei o ana tamahine tokorua, ko te ingoa o te matamua ko Merapa, ko te ingoa o to muri ko Mikara.
50 And [the] name of [the] wife of Saul [was] Ahinoam [the] daughter of Ahimaaz and [the] name of [the] commander of army his [was] Abner [the] son of Ner [the] uncle of Saul.
51 And Kish [was] [the] father of Saul and Ner [the] father of Abner [was] [the] son of Abiel.
52 And it was the war severe on [the] Philistines all [the] days of Saul and he saw Saul every man mighty and every son of strength and he gathered him to himself.
A he nui te whawhai ki nga Pirihitini i nga ra katoa o Haora; a ka kite a Haora i tetahi marohirohi, i tetahi maia, na ka tangohia e ia mana.
