< 1 Samuel 14 >

1 And it was the day and he said Jonathan [the] son of Saul to the young man [the] bearer of armor his come! so let us pass over to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines which [is] from [the] other side of this and to father his not he told.
Lumu Yonasaani mutabani wa Sawulo n’agamba omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye nti, “Jjangu tugende ku ludda luli mu nkambi ey’Abafirisuuti.” Kyokka n’atabuulira kitaawe.
2 And Saul [was] remaining at [the] edge of Gibeah under pomegranate tree which [is] in Migron and the people which [was] with him [was] about six hundred man.
Sawulo yali asiisidde ku njegoyego za Gibea wansi w’omukomamawanga mu Migulooni. Yalina abaserikale nga lukaaga;
3 And Ahijah [the] son of Ahitub [the] brother of Ichabod - [the] son of Phinehas [the] son of Eli [the] priest of - Yahweh in Shiloh [was] bearing an ephod and the people not it knew that he had gone Jonathan.

4 And [were] between the passes which he sought Jonathan to pass over to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines [the] tooth of the rock from the other side from this and [the] tooth of the rock from the other side from this and [the] name of the one [was] Bozez and [the] name of the one [was] Seneh.

5 The tooth the one a pillar [was] from [the] north opposite to Micmash and the one [tooth] [was] from [the] south opposite to Geba.

6 And he said Jonathan to the young man - [the] bearer of armor his come! so let us pass over to [the] garrison of the uncircumcised [men] these perhaps he will act Yahweh for us for not [belongs] to Yahweh a limitation to save by many or by few.
Yonasaani n’agamba omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye nti, Jjangu tugende mu nkambi y’abasajja abo abatali bakomole, oboolyawo Mukama anaatukolera ekyamagero. Kubanga tewali kiyinza kuziyiza Mukama kulokola, ng’akozesa abangi oba abatono.
7 And he said to him [the] bearer of armor his do all that [is] in heart your turn aside for yourself here I [am] with you according to heart your.
Omuvubuka n’amuddamu nti, “Kola nga bw’osiima. Genda mu maaso, nzisa kimu naawe, omutima gwange n’omwoyo gwange biri wamu naawe.”
8 And he said Jonathan here! we [are] about to pass over to the men and we will reveal ourselves to them.
Yonasaani n’alyoka ayogera nti, “Kale, tusomoke tugende eri abasajja, tubeerage.
9 If thus they will say to us be still until reach we you and we will remain in place our and not we will go up to them.
Bwe banaatugamba nti, ‘Mutulindirire okutuusa lwe tunajja,’ kale tunaasigala we tuli, ne tutagenda gye bali.
10 And if thus they will say come up to us and we will go up for he has given them Yahweh in hand our and this for us [will be] the sign.
Naye bwe banaatugamba nti, ‘Mujje gye tuli,’ tunaayambuka, kubanga ako ke kanaaba akabonero gye tuli nti Mukama abagabudde mu mukono gwaffe.”
11 And they revealed themselves [the] two of them to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines and they said [the] Philistines here! Hebrews [are] coming out from the holes where they have hidden themselves there.
Awo bombi ne beeraga eri olusiisira lw’Abafirisuuti. Abafirisuuti ne boogera nti, “Mulabe, Abaebbulaniya batandise okuva mu binnya mwe baali beekwese.”
12 And they answered [the] men of the garrison Jonathan - and [the] bearer of armor his and they said come up to us so let us make known to you something. And he said Jonathan to [the] bearer of armor his come up after me for he has given them Yahweh in [the] hand of Israel.
Abasajja ab’omu nkambi ne bakoowoola Yonasaani n’omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye nga boogera nti, “Mwambuke gye tuli, tubalage enkola.” Awo Yonasaani n’agamba omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye nti, “Ngoberera twambuke kubanga Mukama abawaddeyo mu mukono gwa Isirayiri.”
13 And he went up Jonathan on hands his and on feet his and [the] bearer of armor his [was] behind him and they fell before Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his [was] killing behind him.
Yonasaani n’alinnyalinnya, ng’ayavula nga n’omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye bw’amuvaako emabega. Yonasaani n’atta Abafirisuuti, n’omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye ng’amuvaako emabega naye n’atta abo abaali bawonyeewo.
14 And it was the slaughter first which he struck down Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his about twenty man about in half of a furrow an acre of a field.
Mu lulumba olwo olwasooka, Yonasaani n’omuvubuka eyasitulanga ebyokulwanyisa bye, batta abasajja amakumi abiri mu kibangirizi ekyenkana ekitundu kya eka.
15 And it was trembling in the camp in the field and among all the people the garrison and the destroyer they trembled also they and it quaked the earth and it became a trembling of God.
Awo ne waba okutya kungi nnyo mu ggye lyonna ery’Abafirisuuti abo abaali mu nkambi n’abaali ku ttale; era n’ab’omu bibinja ebirala n’ebibondo ebirumba n’ettaka ne likankana. Okukankana okwo kwava eri Katonda.
16 And they saw the watchmen of Saul at Gibeah of Benjamin and there! the multitude it melted away and it went and here.
Abakuumi ba Sawulo abaali e Gibea mu Benyamini ne balaba ng’ekibinja kisaasaana okuddukira mu njuyi zonna.
17 And he said Saul to the people which [was] with him muster please and see who? has he gone from with us and they mustered and there! there not [were] Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his.
Awo Sawulo n’alagira abasajja abaali naye nti, “Mubale abasajja bonna, mulabe ataliiwo.” Bwe baabala, ne bazuula nga Yonasaani n’eyasitulanga ebyokulyanyisa bye tebaliiwo.
18 And he said Saul to Ahijah bring near! [the] ark of God for it was [the] ark of God on the day that and [the] people of Israel.
Sawulo n’agamba Akiya nti, “Leeta essanduuko ya Katonda,” kubanga mu biro ebyo yali mu mikono gy’Abayisirayiri.
19 And it was until he spoke Saul to the priest and the tumult which [was] in [the] camp of [the] Philistines and it went continuously and great. And he said Saul to the priest withdraw hand your.
Awo Sawulo bwe yali ng’akyayogera ne kabona, akeegugungo ne keeyongera mu nkambi y’Abafirisuuti, n’agamba kabona nti, “Zaayo omukono gwo, ogira olindako.”
20 And he was called together Saul and all the people which [was] with him and they went to the battle and there! it was [the] sword of each man in neighbor his panic [was] great very.
Awo Sawulo n’abasajja be ne beekuŋŋaanya ne bagenda mu lutalo, ne basanga ng’Abafirisuuti balwanagana bokka ne bokka, nga bafumitagana ebitala.
21 And the Hebrews they [who] were [belonging] to the Philistines as yesterday three days ago who they had gone up with them in the camp all around and also they to be with Israel which [was] with Saul and Jonathan.
Abaebbulaniya abaabeeranga n’Abafirisuuti, abaali bagenze nabo mu nkambi, ne beegatta ku Bayisirayiri abaali ne Sawulo ne Yonasaani.
22 And every person of Israel who had hidden themselves in [the] hill country of Ephraim they heard that they had fled [the] Philistines and they pursued closely also they after them in the battle.
Awo Abayisirayiri bonna abaali beekwese mu nsi ey’ensozi eya Efulayimu bwe baawulira ng’Abafirisuuti badduse, amangwago nabo ne beenyigira mu lutalo ne bannaabwe.
23 And he delivered Yahweh on the day that Israel and the battle it passed beyond Beth Aven.
Mukama n’alokola Isirayiri ku lunaku olwo, olutalo ne lutuukira ddala e Besaveni.
24 And [the] man of Israel he was hard pressed on the day that and he had put under oath Saul the people saying [be] cursed the person who he will eat food until the evening and I will avenge myself from enemies my and not it tasted all the people food.
Ku lunaku olwo abasajja Abayisirayiri baali bajjudde ennaku nnyingi nnyo kubanga Sawulo yali abalayizza ng’agamba nti, “Akolimirwe oyo yenna anaalya akantu konna ng’obudde tebunnawungeera, nga sinnaba kwesasuza ku balabe bange.” Awo ne wataba n’omu ku baserikale akomba ku kantu.
25 And all the land they went in the forest and it was honey on [the] surface of the field.
Awo abantu bonna bwe baatuuka mu kibira ne balaba omubisi gw’enjuki ku ttaka.
26 And it came the people into the forest and there! a flowing of honey and there not [was one who] reached hand his to mouth his for it feared the people the oath.
Bwe beeyongerayo munda mu kibira ne basanga nga gutonnya, naye ne wataba n’omu agukombako kubanga baali batya ekirayiro kye baakola.
27 And Jonathan not he had heard when made to swear an oath father his the people and he stretched out [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand his and he dipped it in [the] honeycomb of the honey and he brought back hand his to mouth his (and they brightened *Q(K)*) eyes his.
Naye Yonasaani yali tawulidde nga kitaawe alayiza abantu, kyeyava addira omuggo gwe yalina n’annyika omusa gwagwo mu bisenge by’enjuki, n’agukombako, amaaso ge ne ganyirira n’addamu amaanyi.
28 And he answered a person from the people and he said certainly he made to swear an oath father your the people saying [be] cursed the person who he will eat food this day and it was weary the people.
Awo omu ku baserikale n’amugamba nti, “Kitaawo yatukuutidde n’atulayiza nti, ‘Omuntu yenna anaalya ku mmere leero akolimirwe.’ Era ekyo kye kireetedde abaserikale okuggwaamu amaanyi.”
29 And he said Jonathan he has troubled father my the land see please that they brightened eyes my for I tasted a little of honey this.
Yonasaani n’ayogera nti, “Kitange aleetedde ensi yaffe emitawaana. Laba amaaso gange bwe ganyirira n’amaanyi gange bwe gakomyewo bwe nkombyeko ku mubisi guno ogw’enjuki.
30 Indeed? for certainly [if] it had eaten this day the people any of [the] plunder of enemies its which it found for now not it has been great defeat among the Philistines.
Tekyandisinze nnyo leero singa abasajja baalidde ku munyago gw’abalabe baabwe? Era tebandisse Abafirisuuti abasinga awo obungi?”
31 And they defeated on the day that the Philistines from Micmash Aijalon towards and it was weary the people exceedingly.
Abayisirayiri we baamalira okutta Abafirisuuti okuva e Mikumasi okutuuka e Ayalooni nga bakooye nnyo.
32 (And it rushed *Q(K)*) the people to (the plunder *Q(K)*) and they took sheep and cattle and [the] young of cattle and they slaughtered [them] [the] ground towards and it ate [them] the people with the blood.
Ne badda ku munyago, ne baddira endiga n’ente n’ennyana ne bazisalira wansi ku ttaka ne balya ennyama n’omusaayi gwayo.
33 And people told to Saul saying there! the people [are] sinning to Yahweh by eating with the blood and he said you have acted treacherously roll to me this day a stone great.
Awo omuntu omu n’ategeeza Sawulo nti, “Abantu basobya ku Mukama kubanga balya ennyama erimu omusaayi.” N’ayogera nti, “Musobezza nnyo. Munjiringisirize wano ejjinja eddene kaakano.”
34 And he said Saul be scattered among the people and you will say to them bring near to me each one ox his and each one sheep his and you will slaughter [it] in this [place] and you will eat [it] and not you will sin to Yahweh by eating with the blood and they brought near all the people each one ox his in hand his this night and they slaughtered [it] there.
Sawulo n’agamba nti, “Muyiteeyite mu bantu mubategeeze nti, ‘Buli omu ku mmwe aleete ente ye n’endiga ye muzittire wano era mu zirye. Temuddangayo okusobya ku Mukama nga mulya ennyama erimu omusaayi.’” Awo buli omu ku bo n’aleeta ente ye ekiro ekyo n’agisalira awo.
35 And he built Saul an altar to Yahweh it he began to build an altar to Yahweh.
Sawulo n’azimbira Mukama ekyoto, era ekyo kye kyoto kye yasooka okuzimbira Mukama.
36 And he said Saul let us go down after [the] Philistines - night and let us plunder them - until [the] light of the morning and not we will leave among them anyone and people said all the good in view your do. And he said the priest let us draw near here to God.
Awo Sawulo n’ayogera nti, “Tuserengete tugoberere Abafirisuuti ekiro kino tubanyage okutuusa emmambya lw’eneesala, era tuleme okulekawo wadde omu ku bo nga mulamu.” Ne bamuddamu nti, “Kola nga bw’osiima.” Naye kabona n’ayogera nti, “Twebuuze ku Katonda wano.”
37 And he enquired Saul by God ¿ will I go down after [the] Philistines ¿ will you give them in [the] hand of Israel and not he answered him on the day that.
Awo Sawulo ne yeebuuza ku Katonda ng’agamba nti, “Ŋŋende nnumbe Abafirisuuti? Onoobagabula mu mukono gwa Isirayiri?” Naye Katonda n’atamuddamu ku olwo.
38 And he said Saul draw near here O all [the] corners of the people and know and see how? has it happened the sin this this day.
Sawulo kyeyava ayogera nti, “Mujje wano mmwe mwenna abakulembeze b’abantu, tunoonyereze tulabe ekibi ekikoleddwa leero.
39 For [by] [the] life of Yahweh who delivers Israel for except there it [is] in Jonathan son my for certainly he will die and not [was] answering him any of all the people.
Nga Mukama alokola Isirayiri bw’ali omulamu, ne bwe kinaaba ku mutabani wange Yonasaani, ateekwa kufa.” Naye ne wataba n’omu amwanukula.
40 And he said to all Israel you you will be to a side one and I and Jonathan son my we will be to a side one and they said the people to Saul the good in view your do.
Awo Sawulo n’agamba Abayisirayiri bonna nti, “Muyimirire ku ludda olwo, nze ne mutabani wange Yonasaani tunaayimirira ku ludda luno.” Abantu ne bamuddamu nti, “Kola nga bw’onoosiima.”
41 And he said Saul to Yahweh [the] God of Israel (why? not you did answer servant your the day if there in me or in Jonathan son my the iniquity this Yahweh [the] God [of] Israel give! Urim and if is it the iniquity this in people your [of] Israel *X*) give! Thummim and he was taken by lot Jonathan and Saul and the people they went out.
Sawulo n’asaba Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri nti, “Kiki ekikugaanye okuddamu omuweereza wo leero? Omusango bwe guba nga guli ku nze oba ku mutabani wange Yonasaani ddamu ne Wumimu, naye bwe guba nga guli ku bantu bo Isirayiri, onaddamu ne Sumimu.” Awo akalulu ne kakubibwa era ne kagwa ku Sawulo ne Yonasaani mutabani we.
42 And he said Saul make fall between me and between Jonathan son my and he was taken by lot Jonathan.
Awo Sawulo n’ayogera nti, “Mutukubire akalulu nze ne mutabani wange Yonasaani.” Yonasaani n’alondebwa.
43 And he said Saul to Jonathan tell! to me what? have you done and he told to him Jonathan and he said certainly I tasted with [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand my a little of honey here I I will die.
Sawulo n’abuuza Yonasaani nti, “Mbulira ky’okoze.” Yonasaani n’amutegeeza nti, “Nakombyeko katono ku mubisi gw’enjuki nga nkozesa omusa gw’omuggo gwange. Kaakano ekyo kinsanyiza okufa?”
44 And he said Saul thus may he do God and thus may he add for certainly you will die O Jonathan.
Sawulo n’amuddamu nti, “Katonda ankole bw’atyo n’okukirawo bw’otoofe, Yonasaani!”
45 And it said the people to Saul ¿ Jonathan - will he die who he has done the deliverance great this in Israel far be it [by] [the] life of Yahweh if it will fall one of [the] hair[s] of head his [the] ground towards for with God he has acted the day this and they redeemed the people Jonathan and not he died.
Naye abantu ne bagamba Sawulo nti, “Lwaki, Yonasaani akoze eby’amagero ebyo byonna mu Isirayiri afa? Ddala Yonasaani attibwe? Oyo aleetedde Isirayiri obununuzi obw’ekitalo? Nedda tekisoboka! Nga Mukama bw’ali omulamu, tewali luviiri na lumu lunaava ku mutwe gwe ne lugwa wansi, kubanga ebyo by’akoze leero Katonda y’amuyambye okubikola.” Abantu ne banunula Yonasaani bwe batyo, n’atattibwa.
46 And he went up Saul from after [the] Philistines and [the] Philistines they went to own place their.
Ne Sawulo n’alekeraawo okugoberera Abafirisuuti, nabo ne beddirayo mu nsi yaabwe.
47 And Saul he had taken the kingship over Israel and he waged war all around - against all enemies his against Moab - and against [the] people of Ammon and against Edom and against [the] kings of Zobah and against the Philistines and in every where he turned he acted wickedly.
Awo Sawulo bwe yalya obwakabaka bwa Isirayiri n’alwana n’abalabe be ku njuyi zonna: Mowaabu, n’Abamoni, ab’e Edomu, ne bakabaka ba Zoba, n’Abafirisuuti, na buli we yaddanga n’abawangula.
48 And he did strength and he defeated Amalek and he delivered Israel from [the] hand of [those who] plundered it.
N’alwana n’obuzira bungi n’awangula Abamaleki, n’anunula Isirayiri okuva mu mukono gw’abo abaabanyaganga.
49 And they were [the] sons of Saul Jonathan and Ishvi and Malki-Shua and [the] name of [the] two daughters his [the] name of the firstborn [was] Merab and [the] name of the young [one] [was] Michal.
Batabani ba Sawulo baali Yonasaani, ne Isuvi, ne Malukisuwa. Amannya ga bawala be ababiri gaali Merabu nga ye mukulu, ate omuto nga ye Mikali.
50 And [the] name of [the] wife of Saul [was] Ahinoam [the] daughter of Ahimaaz and [the] name of [the] commander of army his [was] Abner [the] son of Ner [the] uncle of Saul.
Omukyala we ye yali Akinoamu muwala wa Akimaazi. Omuduumizi w’eggye lye omukulu ye yali Abuneeri mutabani wa Neeri, taata wa Sawulo omuto.
51 And Kish [was] [the] father of Saul and Ner [the] father of Abner [was] [the] son of Abiel.
Kiisi kitaawe wa Sawulo ne Neeri kitaawe wa Abuneeri baali batabani ba Abiyeeri.
52 And it was the war severe on [the] Philistines all [the] days of Saul and he saw Saul every man mighty and every son of strength and he gathered him to himself.
Mu biro byonna ebya Sawulo, waaliwo okulwanagana okw’amaanyi n’Abafirisuuti, era buli Sawulo bwe yalabanga omusajja ow’amaanyi oba omuzira n’amuyingiza mu magye.
