1 Kings 6
1 And it was in eighty year and four hundred year of [the] coming out of [the] people of Israel from [the] land of Egypt in the year fourth in [the] month of Ziv that [was] the month second of [the] reigning of Solomon over Israel and he built the house for Yahweh.
In het jaar vierhonderd tachtig na de uittocht van de Israëlieten uit Egypte, in het vierde jaar van Salomons regering over Israël, in de maand Ziw, dat is de tweede maand, begon hij de tempel van Jahweh te bouwen.
2 And the house which he built the king Solomon for Yahweh [was] sixty cubit[s] length its and [was] twenty breadth its and [was] thirty cubit[s] height its.
De tempel, die koning Salomon voor Jahweh bouwde, was zestig el lang, twintig el breed en dertig el hoog.
3 And the porch on [the] face of [the] temple of the house [was] twenty cubit[s] length its on [the] face of [the] breadth of the house [was] ten by the cubit breadth its on [the] face of the house.
De voorhal voor het Heilige van de tempel was twintig el lang, dus even lang als de tempel breed was, en tien el diep in de richting van de lengte van de tempel.
4 And he made for the house windows of frames shut.
Verder maakte hij in de tempel vensters met tralieramen.
5 And he built on [the] wall of the house (an extension *Q(K)*) all around [the] walls of the house around the temple and the innermost room and he made side-chambers all around.
Rondom het Heilige en het Allerheiligste, tegen de tempelmuur aan, plaatste hij een uitbouw, en maakte daarin cellen in het rond.
6 (The extension *Q(K)*) lower [was] five by the cubit breadth its and the middle [extension] [was] six by the cubit breadth its and third [extension] [was] seven by the cubit breadth its for ledges he made for the house around [the] outside towards to not to have hold in [the] walls of the house.
De onderste verdieping van de uitbouw was vijf el breed, de middelste zes el, en de derde zeven; want men had de muren van de tempel aan de buitenkant langs alle zijden iets laten inspringen, om geen gaten in de tempelmuren te moeten breken.
7 And the house when was built it stone perfect quarry it was built and hammers and axe any article of iron not it was heard in the house when was built it.
Bij het opbouwen van de tempel gebruikte men stenen, die klaar van de groeve kwamen; geen hamer, geen houweel of een ander ijzeren werktuig werd er bij het bouwen in de tempel gehoord.
8 [the] entrance of The side-chamber middle [was] to [the] side of the house south and by stairs people went up to the middle and from the middle to the thirty.
De ingang van de onderste verdieping van de uitbouw was rechts van de tempel; met een wenteltrap klom men naar de tussenverdieping, en vandaar naar de derde.
9 And he built the house and he finished it and he covered the house beams and planks with cedar.
Toen de tempel was afgebouwd, bedekte hij hem met ribben en een plafond van cederhout;
10 And he built (the extension *Q(K)*) on all the house [was] five cubits height its and he covered the house with wood of cedar.
de vijftien el hoge uitbouw, die hij in het rond tegen de tempel had aangebouwd, greep zich eveneens met cederbalken in de tempel vast.
11 And it came [the] word of Yahweh to Solomon saying.
Toen sprak Jahweh tot Salomon:
12 The house this which you [are] building if you will walk in statutes my and judgments my you will observe and you will keep all commandments my to walk in them and I will establish word my with you which I spoke to David father your.
Wanneer gij volgens mijn wetten handelt, mijn voorschriften en geboden onderhoudt en uw leven daarnaar inricht, dan zal Ik jegens u het woord gestand doen, dat Ik tot uw vader David gesproken heb over de tempel, die gij hebt gebouwd:
13 And I will dwell in among [the] people of Israel and not I will abandon people my Israel.
Te midden van Israëls kinderen zal Ik wonen, en Israël, mijn volk, niet verlaten!
14 And he built Solomon the house and he finished it.
Toen Salomon de bouw van de tempel voltooid had,
15 And he built [the] walls of the house from inside with boards of cedar from [the] floor of the house to [the] walls of the ceiling he overlaid wood from inside and he overlaid [the] floor of the house with boards of cypresses.
bekleedde hij de binnenwanden, van de grond tot de balken van het plafond, met een betimmering van cederhout; de vloer van de tempel bedekte hij met cypressenhout.
16 And he built twenty cubit[s] (from [the] innermost parts of *Q(k)*) the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the walls and he built for it from inside to an innermost room to [the] holy place of the holy places.
Het achterste gedeelte van de tempel, ter grootte van twintig el, schoot hij af met een wand van cederhout, van de vloer tot de balken van het plafond. Dit werd het Allerheiligste.
17 And forty by the cubit it was the house that [is] the temple before me.
Zo bleef er nog veertig el van de tempel over; dit was het Heilige, dat zich voor het Allerheiligste bevond.
18 And cedar [was] to the house within carving of gourds and spread out [things] of flowers everything [was] cedar not stone [was] visible.
Het cederhout binnen in de tempel was versierd met snijwerk van kolokwinten en bloemslingers. Alles wat men er zag was cederhout; nergens was er een steen te zien.
19 And an innermost room in [the] middle of the house from within he prepared to put there [the] ark of [the] covenant of Yahweh.
Het Allerheiligste achter in de tempel richtte hij in, om er de verbondsark van Jahweh te plaatsen;
20 And before the innermost room [was] twenty cubit[s] length and [was] twenty cubit[s] breadth and [was] twenty cubit[s] height its and he overlaid it gold gold plate and he overlaid an altar cedar.
het was twintig el lang, twintig el breed en twintig el hoog, en met zuiver goud bekleed. Voor het Allerheiligste plaatste hij een altaar van cederhout; dit werd eveneens met goud bekleed.
21 And he overlaid Solomon the house from within gold gold plate and he made pass (with chains of *Q(K)*) gold before the innermost room and he overlaid it gold.
Ook de binnenkant van het Heilige bekleedde hij met zuiver goud, en behing het met gouden bloemslingers.
22 And all the house he overlaid gold until was finished all the house and all the altar which [belonged] to the innermost room he overlaid gold.
Zo bekleedde hij heel de tempel tot zelfs het kleinste onderdeel met goud; ook het altaar bij het Allerheiligste.
23 And he made in the innermost room two cherubim wood of olive [was] ten cubits height its.
Verder maakte hij in het Allerheiligste twee cherubs van olijfhout.
24 And [was] five cubits [the] wing of the cherub one and [was] five cubits [the] wing of the cherub second [was] ten cubits from [the] ends of wings its and to [the] ends of wings its.
De ene vleugel van den cherub was vijf el breed, en vijf el was ook zijn andere vleugel; tezamen dus tien el van het ene einde van zijn vleugels tot aan het andere.
25 And [was] ten by the cubit the cherub second a measurement one and a shape one [belonged] to [the] two the cherubim.
Ook die van de andere cherub waren tien el; want beide cherubs hadden dezelfde maat en dezelfde gestalte.
26 [the] height of The cherub one [was] ten by the cubit and thus the cherub second.
De ene cherub was tien el hoog; ook de andere cherub was tien el hoog.
27 And he put the cherubim in [the] middle of - the house inner and they spread out [the] wings of the cherubim and it touched [the] wing of the one [cherub] the wall and [the] wing of the cherub second [was] touching the wall second and wings their to [the] middle of the house [were] touching wing to wing.
Deze cherubs met uitgespreide vleugels plaatste hij achter in de tempel. Eén vleugel van de ene cherub raakte de ene muur, en één vleugel van de tweede cherub raakte de andere muur; hun andere vleugels raakten elkaar midden in de tempel.
28 And he overlaid the cherubim gold.
Ook de cherubs bekleedde hij met goud.
29 And all [the] walls of the house round about - he carved engravings of carvings of cherubim and palm trees and spread out [things] of flowers from to faces and to the outer.
In al de muren in het rond, zowel van de binnenvertrekken als van de tempelvoorhal, liet hij cherubs, palmbomen en bloemslingers snijden.
30 And [the] floor of the house he overlaid gold to within and to the outer.
Zelfs de vloer van de tempel in de binnenvertrekken en de voorhal bekleedde hij met goud.
31 And [the] entrance of the innermost room he made doors of wood of olive the pillar doorposts of fifth.
Aan de ingang van het Allerheiligste maakte hij deuren van olijfhout: het deurkozijn daarvan vormde een vijfhoek.
32 And two doors of wood of olive and he carved on them carvings of cherubim and palm trees and spread out [things] of flowers and he overlaid [them] gold and he hammered out on the cherubim and on the palm trees the gold.
Op de beide deuren van olijfhout sneed hij cherubs, palmbomen en bloemslingers, die hij met goud bekleedde; ook de cherubs en de palmbomen werden met goud bekleed.
33 And thus he made for [the] entrance of the temple doorposts of wood of olive from with a fourth.
Aan de ingang van het Heilige maakte hij een rechthoekig deurkozijn van olijfhout
34 And two doors of wood of cypresses two sides the door one [were] revolving and two curtains the door second [were] revolving.
met twee deuren van cypressenhout, die elk twee toeslaande vleugels hadden;
35 And he carved cherubim and palm trees and spread out [things] of flowers and he overlaid gold made smooth on the carved [work].
hij sneed er cherubs, palmbomen en bloemslingers in, en belegde dit beeldhouwwerk met dun geslagen goud.
36 And he built the court inner three rows of hewn [stone] and a row of beams of cedar.
Ook bouwde hij de ringmuur van het binnenvoorhof: drie lagen gehouwen steen met één laag balken van cederhout.
37 In the year fourth it was founded [the] house of Yahweh in [the] month of Ziv.
In het vierde jaar, in de maand Ziw, werden de grondslagen van de tempel van Jahweh gelegd,
38 And in the year one [plus] ten in [the] month of Bul that [was] the month eighth it was complete the house to all parts its and to all (plans its *Q(K)*) and he built it seven years.
en in het elfde jaar, in de maand Boel, dat is de achtste maand, was de tempel met al zijn bijgebouwen en geheel zijn inrichting voltooid. Zeven jaren had hij er dus aan gebouwd.
