1 Kings 18
1 And it was days many and [the] word of Yahweh it came to Elijah in the year third saying go present yourself to Ahab so let me give rain on [the] surface of the ground.
Pitkän ajan kuluttua, kolmantena vuotena, tuli Elialle tämä Herran sana: "Mene ja näyttäydy Ahabille, niin minä annan sateen maan päälle".
2 And he went Elijah to present himself to Ahab and the famine [was] severe in Samaria.
Niin Elia meni näyttäytymään Ahabille. Mutta Samariassa oli kova nälänhätä.
3 And he summoned Ahab Obadiah who [was] over the household and Obadiah he was fearing Yahweh exceedingly.
Ja Ahab kutsui Obadjan, joka oli palatsin päällikkönä. Mutta Obadja oli hyvin Herraa pelkääväinen mies;
4 And it was when cut off Jezebel [the] prophets of Yahweh and he took Obadiah one hundred prophets and he hid them fifty man in the cave and he supplied them food and water.
niinpä Obadja oli silloin, kun Iisebel hävitti Herran profeetat, ottanut sata profeettaa ja piilottanut heidät luolaan, viisikymmentä kerrallaan, ja elättänyt heitä leivällä ja vedellä.
5 And he said Ahab to Obadiah go in the land to all [the] springs of water and to all the wadis perhaps - we will find grass so we may preserve alive horse and mule and not we will cut off any of the livestock.
Ahab sanoi Obadjalle: "Kulje maa, kaikki vesilähteet ja kaikki purot. Kenties me löydämme ruohoa pitääksemme hevoset ja muulit hengissä, niin ettei meidän tarvitse hävittää elukoita."
6 And they divided to themselves the land to pass in it Ahab he went in a direction one to only him and Obadiah he went in a direction one to only him.
Ja he jakoivat keskenään kuljettavansa maan. Ahab kulki toista tietä yksinänsä, ja Obadja kulki toista tietä yksinänsä.
7 And he was Obadiah on the way and there! Elijah to meet him and he recognized him and he fell on face his and he said ¿ you [is] this O lord my Elijah.
Kun nyt Obadja oli matkalla, niin katso, Elia tuli häntä vastaan. Tuntiessaan tämän hän heittäytyi kasvoillensa ja sanoi: "Sinäkö se olet, herrani Elia?"
8 And he said to him [it is] I go say to master your here! Elijah.

9 And he said what? have I sinned that you [are] giving servant your in [the] hand of Ahab to put to death me.
Niin hän sanoi: "Mitä minä olen rikkonut, koska annat palvelijasi Ahabin käsiin, hänen surmattavakseen?
10 [by] [the] life - Of Yahweh God your if there [is] a nation and a kingdom where not he has sent master my there to seek you and they said not and he made swear the kingdom and the nation that not it has found you.
Niin totta kuin Herra, sinun Jumalasi, elää, ei ole sitä kansaa eikä sitä valtakuntaa, josta minun herrani ei olisi lähettänyt etsimään sinua, mutta kun on vastattu: 'Ei hän ole täällä', on hän vannottanut sillä valtakunnalla ja sillä kansalla valan, ettei sinua ole löydetty.
11 And now you [are] saying go say to master your here! Elijah.

12 And it will be I - I will go from with you and [the] spirit of Yahweh - it will carry away you to where not I know and I will go to tell to Ahab and not he will find you and he will kill me and servant your [is] fearing Yahweh since youth my.
Kun minä lähden pois luotasi, niin Herran Henki kuljettaa sinut, en tiedä minne, ja kun minä menen ilmoittamaan Ahabille eikä hän löydä sinua, niin hän tappaa minut. Ja kuitenkin palvelijasi on peljännyt Herraa nuoruudestaan asti.
13 ¿ Not has it been told to lord my [that] which I did when killed Jezebel [the] prophets of Yahweh and I hid of [the] prophets of Yahweh one hundred man fifty fifty man in the cave and I supplied them food and water.
Eikö herralleni ole kerrottu, mitä minä tein, kun Iisebel tappoi Herran profeetat: kuinka minä piilotin luolaan sata Herran profeettaa, viisikymmentä kerrallaan, ja elätin heitä leivällä ja vedellä?
14 And now you [are] saying go say to master your here! Elijah and he will kill me.
Ja nyt sinä sanot: 'Mene ja sano herrallesi: Katso, Elia on täällä', ja niin hän tappaa minut."
15 And he said Elijah [by] [the] life of Yahweh of hosts whom I stand before him for this day I will present myself to him.
Mutta Elia sanoi: "Niin totta kuin Herra Sebaot elää, jonka edessä minä seison, minä näyttäydyn tänä päivänä hänelle".
16 And he went Obadiah to meet Ahab and he told to him and he went Ahab to meet Elijah.
Niin Obadja meni Ahabia vastaan ja ilmoitti hänelle tämän. Ahab meni silloin Eliaa vastaan.
17 And it was when saw Ahab Elijah and he said Ahab to him ¿ you [is] this O [one who] troubles Israel.
Ja nähdessään Elian Ahab sanoi hänelle: "Siinäkö sinä olet, sinä, joka syökset Israelin onnettomuuteen?"
18 And he said not I have troubled Israel that except you and [the] household of father your because have forsaken you [the] commandments of Yahweh and you have walked after the Baals.
Tämä vastasi: "En minä syökse Israelia onnettomuuteen, vaan sinä ja sinun isäsi suku, koska te hylkäätte Herran käskyt ja koska sinä seuraat baaleja.
19 And now send gather to me all Israel to [the] mountain of Carmel and [the] prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty and [the] prophets of Asherah four hundred [who] eat of [the] table of Jezebel.
Mutta lähetä nyt kokoamaan kaikki Israel minun luokseni Karmel-vuorelle, sekä neljäsataa viisikymmentä Baalin profeettaa ja neljäsataa Aseran profeettaa, jotka syövät Iisebelin pöydästä."
20 And he sent Ahab among all [the] people of Israel and he gathered the prophets to [the] mountain of Carmel.
Niin Ahab lähetti sanan kaikille israelilaisille ja kokosi profeetat Karmel-vuorelle.
21 And he drew near Elijah to all the people and he said until when? [will] you [be] limping on [the] two the crutches if Yahweh [is] God walk after him and if Baal walk after him and not they answered the people him a word.
Ja Elia astui kaiken kansan eteen ja sanoi: "Kuinka kauan te onnutte molemmille puolille? Jos Herra on Jumala, seuratkaa häntä; mutta jos Baal on Jumala, seuratkaa häntä." Eikä kansa vastannut hänelle mitään.
22 And he said Elijah to the people I I am left a prophet of Yahweh to alone me and [the] prophets of Baal [are] four hundred and fifty man.
Niin Elia sanoi kansalle: "Minä olen ainoa jäljelle jäänyt Herran profeetta, mutta Baalin profeettoja on neljäsataa viisikymmentä.
23 And let people give to us two young bulls and let them choose for themselves the young bull one and let them cut in pieces it and they may put on the wood and fire not they will set and I I will prepare - the young bull one and I will put on the wood and fire not I will set.
Antakaa meille kaksi mullikkaa, ja valitkoot he itselleen toisen mullikan, paloitelkoot sen ja pankoot kappaleet puiden päälle, mutta älkööt panko tulta; ja minä valmistan toisen mullikan ja asetan sen puiden päälle, mutta en pane tulta.
24 And you will call on [the] name of god your and I I will call on [the] name of Yahweh and he will be the god who he will answer by fire he God and it answered all the people and they said [is] good the word.
Sitten huutakaa te jumalanne nimeä, ja minä huudan Herran nimeä. Se jumala, joka vastaa tulella, on Jumala." Kaikki kansa vastasi ja sanoi: "Niin on hyvä".
25 And he said Elijah to [the] prophets of Baal choose for yourselves the young bull one and prepare [it] first for you [are] the many and call on [the] name of god your and fire not you will set.
Ja Elia sanoi Baalin profeetoille: "Valitkaa itsellenne toinen mullikka ja valmistakaa se ensin, sillä teitä on enemmän. Huutakaa sitten jumalanne nimeä, mutta älkää panko tulta".
26 And they took the young bull which someone gave to them and they prepared [it] and they called on [the] name of Baal from the morning and until the noontide saying O Baal answer us and there not [was] a sound and there not [was one who] answered and they limped around at the altar which he had made.
Niin he ottivat sen mullikan, jonka hän antoi heille, ja valmistivat sen. Sitten he huusivat Baalin nimeä aamusta puolipäivään asti, sanoen: "Baal, vastaa meille!" Mutta ei ääntä, ei vastausta! Ja he hyppelivät alttarin ääressä, joka oli tehty.
27 And it was at the noontide and he mocked them Elijah and he said call out with a voice great for [is] a god he for musing and for a going away [belongs] to him and for a journey [belongs] to him perhaps [is] sleeping he so he may awake.
Puolipäivän aikana Elia pilkkasi heitä ja sanoi: "Huutakaa kovemmin; hän on tosin jumala, mutta hänellä voi olla jotakin toimittamista, tahi hän on poistunut johonkin, tahi on matkalla; kenties hän nukkuu, mutta kyllä hän herää".
28 And they called out with a voice great and they cut themselves according to custom their with swords and with lances until poured out blood over them.
Niin he huusivat vielä kovemmin ja viileksivät itseään tapansa mukaan miekoilla ja keihäillä, niin että heistä vuoti verta.
29 And it was when passed the noontide and they prophesied until goes up the offering and there not [was] a sound and there not [was one who] answered and there not [was] attention.
Kun puolipäivä oli kulunut, joutuivat he hurmoksiin, aina siihen hetkeen asti, jolloin ruokauhri uhrataan. Mutta ei ääntä, ei vastausta, ei vaarinottoa!
30 And he said Elijah to all the people draw near to me and they drew near all the people to him and he repaired [the] altar of Yahweh that was torn down.
Niin Elia sanoi kaikelle kansalle: "Astukaa minun luokseni". Ja kaikki kansa astui hänen luoksensa. Niin hän korjasi Herran alttarin, joka oli hajotettu.
31 And he took Elijah two [plus] ten stones according to [the] number of [the] tribes of [the] sons of Jacob whom it had come [the] word of Yahweh to him saying Israel it will be name your.
Ja Elia otti kaksitoista kiveä, yhtä monta kuin oli Jaakobin poikien sukukuntia, hänen, jolle oli tullut tämä Herran sana: "Israel on oleva sinun nimesi".
32 And he built the stones an altar in [the] name of Yahweh and he made a trench like a receptacle of two seahs seed around the altar.
Ja hän rakensi kivistä alttarin Herran nimeen ja teki alttarin ympärille ojan, johon olisi mahtunut kaksi sea-mittaa jyviä.
33 And he arranged the wood and he cut it in pieces the young bull and he put [it] on the wood. And he said fill four jars water and pour [it] on the burnt offering and on the wood
Sitten hän latoi puut, paloitteli mullikan ja pani kappaleet puiden päälle.
34 and he said do again and they did again and he said do a third time and they did a third time.
Ja hän sanoi: "Täyttäkää neljä ruukkua vedellä ja vuodattakaa se polttouhrin ja puiden päälle". Ja hän sanoi: "Tehkää se toinen kerta". Ja he tekivät niin toisen kerran. Vielä hän sanoi: "Tehkää se kolmas kerta". Ja he tekivät niin kolmannen kerran.
35 And they went the waters around the altar and also the trench he filled water.
Niin vesi juoksi ympäri alttarin; ojankin hän täytti vedellä.
36 And it was - when went up the offering and he drew near Elijah the prophet and he said O Yahweh [the] God of Abraham Isaac and Israel this day let it be known that you [are] God in Israel and I [am] servant your (and at word your *Q(K)*) I have done all the things these.
Ja kun oli tullut hetki, jolloin ruokauhri uhrataan, astui profeetta Elia esille ja sanoi: "Herra, Aabrahamin, Iisakin ja Israelin Jumala, tulkoon tänä päivänä tiettäväksi, että sinä olet Jumala Israelissa ja että minä olen sinun palvelijasi ja että minä olen sinun käskystäsi tehnyt kaiken tämän.
37 Answer me O Yahweh answer me so they may know the people this that you O Yahweh [are] God and you you have turned around heart their backwards.
Vastaa minulle, Herra, vastaa minulle, että tämä kansa tulisi näkemään, että sinä, Herra, olet Jumala ja että sinä käännät heidän sydämensä takaisin."
38 And it fell [the] fire of Yahweh and it consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust and the water which [was] in the trench it licked up.
Silloin Herran tuli iski alas ja kulutti polttouhrin, puut, kivet ja mullan sekä nuoli veden, joka oli ojassa.
39 And it saw all the people and they fell on faces their and they said Yahweh he [is] God Yahweh he [is] God.
Kun kaikki kansa näki tämän, lankesivat he kasvoillensa ja sanoivat: "Herra on Jumala! Herra on Jumala!"
40 And he said Elijah to them seize - [the] prophets of Baal anyone may not he escape of them and they seized them and he brought down them Elijah to [the] wadi of Kishon and he slaughtered them there.
Mutta Elia sanoi heille: "Ottakaa Baalin profeetat kiinni; älköön yksikään heistä pääskö pakoon". Ja he ottivat heidät kiinni. Ja Elia vei heidät Kiisonin purolle ja tappoi heidät siellä.
41 And he said Elijah to Ahab go up eat and drink for [the] sound of [the] noise of rain.
Ja Elia sanoi Ahabille: "Nouse, syö ja juo, sillä sateen kohina kuuluu".
42 And he went up Ahab to eat and to drink and Elijah he went up to [the] top of Carmel and he crouched [the] ground towards and he put face his between (knees his. *Q(K)*)
Niin Ahab nousi syömään ja juomaan. Mutta Elia nousi Karmelin huipulle, kumartui maahan ja painoi kasvonsa polviensa väliin.
43 And he said to servant his go up please look [the] direction of [the] sea and he went up and he looked and he said there not [is] anything and he said go back seven times.
Ja hän sanoi palvelijallensa: "Nouse ja katso merelle päin". Tämä nousi ja katsoi, mutta sanoi: "Ei näy mitään". Hän sanoi: "Mene takaisin". Näin seitsemän kertaa.
44 And it was at the seventh [time] and he said there! a cloud small like [the] hand of a person [is] coming up from [the] sea and he said go up say to Ahab harness and go down and not it will hold back you the rain.
Seitsemännellä kerralla palvelija sanoi: "Katso, pieni pilvi, miehen kämmenen kokoinen, nousee merestä". Niin Elia sanoi: "Nouse ja sano Ahabille: 'Valjasta ja lähde alas, ettei sade sinua pidättäisi'".
45 And it was - until thus and until thus and the heavens they grew dark clouds and wind and it was rain great and he rode Ahab and he went Jezreel towards.
Ja tuossa tuokiossa taivas kävi mustaksi pilvistä ja myrskytuulesta, ja tuli ankara sade. Mutta Ahab nousi vaunuihinsa ja lähti Jisreeliin.
46 And [the] hand of Yahweh it was to Elijah and he girded up loins his and he ran before Ahab until coming you Jezreel towards.
Ja Herran käsi tuli Elian päälle, ja niin hän vyötti kupeensa ja juoksi Ahabin edellä Jisreeliin saakka.
