1 Corinthians 8
1 Concerning now the idol-sacrifices, we know indeed all knowledge we have. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
Pour ce qui regarde les choses qui sont sacrifiées aux idoles: nous savons que nous avons tous de la connaissance. La science enfle, mais la charité édifie.
2 If (now *k*) anyone thinks (to have known *N(k)O*) anything, (not yet *N(k)O*) (no [thing] *k*) (he knew *N(k)O*) even as it is necessary to know;
Et si quelqu'un croit savoir quelque chose, il n'a encore rien connu comme il faut connaître;
3 If however anyone loves God, he has known by Him.
Mais si quelqu'un aime Dieu, il est connu de lui.
4 Concerning the eating therefore of the idol-sacrifices we know that no [thing] an idol [is] in [the] world and that [there is] no God (other *k*) only except one.
Pour ce qui regarde donc de manger des choses sacrifiées aux idoles, nous savons que l'idole n'est rien au monde, et qu'il n'y a aucun autre Dieu qu'un seul;
5 Even truly if indeed if indeed there are [those] named gods whether in heaven or on (*k*) earth, as there are gods many and lords many;
Car encore qu'il y en ait qui soient appelés dieux, soit au ciel, soit en la terre (comme il y a plusieurs dieux, et plusieurs Seigneurs, )
6 yet to us [there is] one God the Father of whom [are] the [things] all and we ourselves for Him, and one Lord Jesus Christ through whom [are] the [things] all and we ourselves through Him.
Nous n'avons pourtant qu'un seul Dieu, [qui est] le Père; duquel [sont] toutes choses, et nous en lui; et un seul Seigneur Jésus-Christ, par lequel [sont] toutes choses, et nous par lui.
7 But not in all [is] this knowledge; Some now (by custom *N(K)O*) until now of the idol as of an idol-sacrifice eat, and the conscience of them weak being it is defiled.
Mais il n'y a pas en tous la [même] connaissance; car quelques-uns qui jusqu'à présent font conscience à cause de l'idole, de manger des choses qui ont été sacrifiées à l'idole, en mangent pourtant; c'est pourquoi leur conscience étant faible, elle en est souillée.
8 Food however us not (will commend *N(k)O*) to God; neither (for *ko*) if not we shall eat [still] do we come short [then] nor if we shall eat (have we an advantage. *NK(o)*)
Or la viande ne nous rend pas agréables à Dieu; car si nous mangeons, nous n'en avons rien davantage; et si nous ne mangeons point, nous n'en avons pas moins.
9 do be careful however lest perhaps the right of you this an occasion of stumbling may become to those (weak. *N(k)O*)
Mais prenez garde que cette liberté que vous avez, ne soit en quelque sorte en scandale aux faibles.
10 If for anyone shall see you who is having knowledge in an idol’s temple eating, surely the conscience of him weak being he will be encouraged the idol-sacrifices to eat?
Car si quelqu'un te voit, toi qui as de la connaissance, être à table au temple des idoles, la conscience de celui qui est faible, ne sera-t-elle pas induite à manger des choses sacrifiées à l'idole?
11 (Is destroyed *N(K)O*) (for *N(k)O*) the [one] who is being weak (through *N(k)O*) your knowledge, (the *no*) brother for whom Christ died.
Et ainsi ton frère, qui est faible, pour lequel Christ est mort, périra par ta connaissance.
12 Thus then sinning against the brothers and wounding their conscience being weak, against Christ you sin.
Or quand vous péchez ainsi contre vos frères, et que vous blessez leur conscience qui est faible, vous péchez contre Christ.
