< 1 Chronicles 26 >
1 To divisions of gatekeepers of the Korahites Meshelemiah [the] son of Kore one of [the] sons of Asaph.
These were the divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.
2 And [belonged] to Meshelemiah sons Zechariah the firstborn Jediael the second Zebadiah the third Jathniel the fourth.
Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,
3 Elam the fifth Jehohanan the sixth Eliehoenai the seventh.
Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, and Eliehoenai the seventh.
4 And [belonged] to Obed-Edom sons Shemaiah the firstborn Jehozabad the second Joah the third and Sakar the fourth and Nethanel the fifth.
And Obed-edom also had sons: Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sachar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,
5 Ammiel the sixth Issachar the seventh Peullethai the eighth for he had blessed him God.
Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth. For God had blessed Obed-edom.
6 And to Shemaiah son his it was born sons the rulers of [the] house of father their for [were] mighty [men] of ability they.
Also to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men.
7 [the] sons of Shemaiah Othni and Rephael and Obed Elzabad relatives his sons of ability Elihu and Semakiah.
Shemaiah’s sons were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad; his brothers were Elihu and Semachiah, also capable men.
8 All these [were] of [the] descendants of - Obed-Edom they and sons their and relatives their [were] man of ability with strength for service sixty and two [belonged] to Obed-Edom.
All these were descendants of Obed-edom; they and their sons and brothers were capable men with strength to do the work—62 in all from Obed-edom.
9 And [belonged] to Meshelemiah sons and relatives sons of ability eight-teen.
Meshelemiah also had sons and brothers who were capable men—18 in all.
10 And [belonged] to Hosah one of [the] descendants of Merari sons Shimri the chief for not he was firstborn and he had appointed him father his to chief.
Hosah the Merarite also had sons: Shimri the first (although he was not the firstborn, his father had appointed him as the first),
11 Hilkiah the second Tebaliah the third Zechariah the fourth all [the] sons and relatives of Hosah [were] thir-teen.
Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and brothers of Hosah numbered 13 in all.
12 [belonged] to These [the] divisions of the gatekeepers to [the] chiefs of the men duties corresponding to relatives their to serve in [the] house of Yahweh.
These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their chief men, had duties for ministering in the house of the LORD, just as their brothers did.
13 And they cast lots as the small as the great to [the] house of ancestors their for a gate and a gate.
They cast lots for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.
14 And it fell the lot east-ward to Shelemiah and Zechariah son his a counselor - with insight they cast lots and it came out lot his north-ward.
The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him.
15 To Obed-Edom [the] south towards and to sons his [the] house of the store.
The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-edom, and the lot for the storehouses to his sons.
16 To Shuppim and to Hosah to the west beside [the] gate of Shalleketh on the highway which goes up guard along side guard.
The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch.
17 To the east the Levites six to the north to the day four to the south to the day four and for the storehouses two two.
Each day there were six Levites on the east, four on the north, four on the south, and two pairs at the storehouse.
18 For the Parbar to the west four for the highway two for the Parbar.
As for the court on the west, there were four at the highway and two at the court.
19 These [were] [the] divisions of the gatekeepers of [the] descendants of the Korahite[s] and of [the] descendants of Merari.
These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari.
20 And the Levites Ahijah [was] over [the] storehouses of [the] house of God and to [the] storehouses of the holy things.
Now their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the dedicated things.
21 [the] sons of Ladan [the] descendants of the Gershonite[s] of Ladan [the] heads of the fathers of Ladan the Gershonite Jehieli.
From the descendants of Ladan, who were Gershonites through Ladan and heads of the families of Ladan the Gershonite, were Jehieli,
22 [the] sons of Jehieli Zetham and Joel brother his [were] over [the] storehouses of [the] house of Yahweh.
the sons of Jehieli, Zetham, and his brother Joel. They were in charge of the treasuries of the house of the LORD.
23 To the Amramite[s] to the Izharite[s] to the Hebronite[s] to the Uzzielite[s].
From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
24 And Shebuel [the] son of Gershom [the] son of Moses [was the] chief over the storehouses.
Shebuel, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries.
25 And relatives his to Eliezer Rehabiah son his and Jeshaiah son his and Joram son his and Zikri son his (and Shelomith *Q(K)*) son his.
His relatives through Eliezer included Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.
26 That Shelomoth and relatives his [were] over all [the] storehouses of the holy things which he had consecrated David the king and [the] heads of the fathers to [the] commanders of the thousands and the hundreds and [the] commanders of the army.
This Shelomith and his brothers were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and by the army commanders.
27 Some of the wars and some of the plunder they consecrated to repair [the] house of Yahweh.
They had dedicated some of the plunder from their battles to the repair of the house of the LORD.
28 And all that he had consecrated Samuel the seer and Saul [the] son of Kish and Abner [the] son of Ner and Joab [the] son of Zeruiah every [one who] consecrated [was] on [the] hand of Shelomith and relatives his.
Everything that had been dedicated by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah, along with everything else that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
29 To the Izharite[s] Kenaniah and sons his [were] for the work outside over Israel to officials and to judges.
From the Izrahites, Chenaniah and his sons had the outside duties as officers and judges over Israel.
30 To the Hebronite[s] Hashabiah and relatives his sons of ability one thousand and seven hundred [were] over [the] oversight of Israel from [the] other side of the Jordan west-ward to all [the] work of Yahweh and to [the] service of the king.
From the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king.
31 To the Hebronite[s] Jeriah [was] the chief of the Hebronite[s] to generations his of fathers in [the] year of the forty of [the] reign of David they were investigated and it was found among them mighty [men] of ability at Jazer of Gilead.
As for the Hebronites, Jerijah was the chief of the Hebronites, according to the genealogies of his ancestors. In the fortieth year of David’s reign the records were searched, and strong, capable men were found among the Hebronites at Jazer in Gilead.
32 And relatives his [were] sons of ability two thousand and seven hundred [the] heads of the fathers and he appointed them David the king over the Reubenite[s] and the Gadite[s] and [the] half of [the] tribe of the Manassite[s] to every matter of God and [the] matter of the king.
Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and to the affairs of the king.
