< Zephaniah 3 >

1 Alas for her that is rebellious, and polluted, the city that oppresseth!
Ke malaʻia kiate ia ʻoku ʻuli mo taʻemaʻa, ki he kolo ʻoku fakamālohi!
2 She hath hearkened to no voice, accepted no correction; in Yahweh, hath not trusted, to her God, hath not drawn near:
Naʻe ʻikai te ne talangofua ki he leʻo naʻe ʻikai ke maʻu ʻe ia ʻae akonaki; naʻe ʻikai ke falala ia kia Sihova; naʻe ʻikai te ne ʻunuʻunu atu ki hono ʻOtua.
3 Her rulers in her midst, are roaring lions, —her judges, evening wolves, they have left nothing until morning!
Ko hono houʻeiki ʻi ai ko e fanga laione ngungulu; ko ʻene kau fakamaau ko e fanga ulofi ʻoe efiafi; ʻoku nau tatali ke nau kai pongipongi ʻae ngaahi hui.
4 Her prophets, are reckless, treacherous men! her priests, have profaned the holy, done violence to law.
Ko e kakai maʻamaʻa mo kākā ʻa ʻene kau palōfita: kuo fakaʻuliʻi ʻae falelotu ʻe heʻene kau taulaʻeiki, kuo nau maumauʻi ʻae fono.
5 Yahweh, the Righteous One, is in her midst, he dealeth not perversely, —Morning by morning, his justice, bringeth he forth the light, He is not found lacking, but the perverse man knoweth no shame.
‌ʻOku ʻi he lotolotonga ʻo ia, ʻa Sihova, angatonu; ʻe ʻikai te ne fai ha meʻa hala; ʻoku ʻomi ʻe ia ʻa ʻene fakamaau ki he maama ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē, ʻoku ʻikai te ne siʻaki; ka ʻoku ʻikai ke ʻiloʻi ha mā ʻe he taʻeangatonu.
6 I have cut off nations, deserted are their towers, have made desolate their streets, that none passeth through; ruined are their cities, for want of men of note, from lack of any dweller!
Kuo u tuʻusi ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga: kuo ʻuha ʻa honau ngaahi fale māʻolunga; ne u fakalala ʻa honau ngaahi hala, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ʻalu atu ai ha taha: kuo maumauʻi ʻa honau ngaahi kolo, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ai ha tangata, ʻoku ʻikai ai ha taha ʻoku nofo ai.
7 I said, Surely thou wilt reverence, Me, wilt accept correction, lest her abode, should be cut of, howsoever I had punished her; but, in truth, they soon corrupted all their deeds.
Naʻaku pehē, “Ko e moʻoni, te ke manavahē kiate au, te ke maʻu ʻae akonaki; ko ia ʻe ʻikai tuʻusi ai honau nofoʻanga neongo ʻeku tautea ai ʻakinautolu,” naʻa nau tuʻu vave hake, ʻo fakalieliaʻi ʻa ʻenau ngaahi ngāue kotoa pē.
8 Wherefore, wait for me, urgeth Yahweh, until the day when I rise up as witness, for, my decision, is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out on them mine indignation, all the glow of mine anger, for, in the fire of my jealousy, shall be devoured the whole earth.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Ko ia mou tatali kiate au, ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho te u tuʻu hake ki he maumau; he kuo u pau pe ke tānaki ʻae ngaahi fonua, ke u fakataha ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga, ke huaʻi kiate kinautolu ʻa ʻeku tuputāmaki, ʻio, ʻa ʻeku houhau kakaha kotoa pē: koeʻuhi ʻe keina ʻa māmani kotoa pē ʻaki ʻae afi ʻo ʻeku fuaʻa.
9 Surely, then, will I turn unto the peoples a lip made pure, —that they all may call on the name of Yahweh, may serve him with one consent.
Pea hili ia te u ʻomi ʻae lea maʻa ki he kakai, koeʻuhi ke nau ui kotoa pē ki he huafa ʻo Sihova, ke tauhi kiate ia ʻi he uouangataha.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, [shall come] my suppliants, the daughter of my dispersed ones, shall bear along a gift for me.
‌ʻE ʻomi mei he tuʻa vaitafe ʻo ʻItiopea ʻae feilaulau kiate au, ʻekinautolu ʻoku hū kiate au, ʻio, ʻae ngaahi ʻofefine ʻo ʻeku kakai, kuo fakamovetevete.
11 In that day, wilt thou not turn pale for all thy deeds, wherein thou hast transgressed against me? For, then, will I take away out of thy midst thy proudly exulting ones, and thou shalt not again be haughty any more in my holy mountain:
‌ʻI he ʻaho ko ia ʻe ʻikai te ke mā koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ngaahi ngāue kotoa pē, ʻaia kuo ke angahala ai kiate au: koeʻuhi te u toʻo atu mei he lotolotonga ʻoʻou, ʻakinautolu ʻoku fiefia ʻi hoʻo fielahi, pea ʻe ʻikai te ke toe angahiki, koeʻuhi ko hoku moʻunga māʻoniʻoni.
12 So will I leave remaining in thy midst, a people oppressed and poor, —who will seek refuge in the name of Yahweh:
Te u tuku foki ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoʻou, ʻae kakai angavaivai mo masiva, pea te nau falala ki he huafa ʻo Sihova.
13 The remnant of Israel—will not do perversity, nor speak falsehood, neither shall there be found in their mouth a tongue of deceit, —surely, they, shall feed and lie down, with none to make them afraid.
‌ʻE ʻikai fai angahala ʻe he toenga ʻo ʻIsileli, pe lea loi; pea ʻe ʻikai ʻiloʻi ʻi honau ngutu ʻae ʻelelo kākā: he te nau kai mo tokoto, pea ʻe ʻikai fakamanavahēʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe ha taha.”
14 Sing out, O daughter of Zion, shout aloud, O Israel, —rejoice and exult with all thy heart, O daughter Jerusalem:
Ke hiva, ʻE ʻofefine ʻo Saione kalanga, ʻE ʻIsileli; ke fiefia mo nekeneka ʻaki ʻae loto kotoa, ʻE ʻofefine ʻo Selūsalema.
15 Yahweh, hath set aside, thy judgments, hath turned back thy foe, —The king of Israel, Yahweh, is in thy midst, thou shalt not fear calamity, any more.
Kuo toʻo atu ʻe Sihova ʻa ho ngaahi tautea, kuo ne kapusi kituʻa ho fili: ko e tuʻi ʻo ʻIsileli, ʻio, ko Sihova, ʻoku ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoʻou: ʻe ʻikai te ke toe mamata ki ha kovi.
16 In that day, shall it be said—to Jerusalem, Do not fear, —O Zion, Let not thy hands hang down:
‌ʻE pehē ki Selūsalema ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, “ʻOua te ke manavahē: pea ki Saione, ʻoua naʻa tuku ke vaivai ho nima.”
17 Yahweh, thy God, in the midst of thee, as a mighty one, will save, —will be glad over thee with rejoicing, will be silent in his love, will exult over thee with shouts of triumph.
‌ʻOku māfimafi ʻa Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoʻou; te ne fakamoʻui, te ne fiefia ʻiate koe, ʻaki ʻae fiefia: ʻe mālōlō ʻe ia ʻi heʻene ʻofa, te ne fiefia ʻiate koe ʻaki ʻae hiva.
18 The sad exiles from the appointed meeting, have I gathered, from thee, had they been! [but were] a burden on thee—a reproach!
Te u tānaki meiate koe ʻakinautolu ʻoku mamahi, koeʻuhi ko e fakataha mamalu, ko e manuki ʻo ia, ko e meʻa mamafa kiate kinautolu.
19 Behold me! dealing with all thine oppressors, at that time, —and I will save her that is lame, and, her that hath been an outcast, will I carry, and I will make them to be a Praise and a Name, in the whole earth that hath witnessed their shame.
Vakai, ʻi he kuonga ko ia, te u veteki ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku fakamamahiʻi koe; pea te u fakamoʻui ia ʻoku ketu, mo fakataha ia naʻe kapusi kituʻa; pea te u maʻu ʻae fakamālō, mo e ongoongo kiate kinautolu ʻi he fonua kotoa pē, ʻaia naʻe fakamaaʻi ai ʻakinautolu.
20 At that time, will I bring you in, even at the time when I gather you, —Yea I will grant you to become a Name and a Praise, among all the peoples of the earth, when I cause them of your captivities to return before your eyes, saith Yahweh.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, Te u toe ʻomi ʻakimoutolu ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ʻio, ʻi he kuonga te u fakataha ai ʻakimoutolu: he te u ngaohi maʻamoutolu ʻae hingoa, mo e ongoongolelei ʻi he kakai kotoa pē ʻo māmani, ʻo kau ka liliu ʻa homou fakapōpula ʻi he ʻao ʻo homou mata.
