Zechariah 9
1 The oracle of the word of Yahweh on the land of Hadrach, and, Damascus, shall be the resting-place thereof, —For, Yahweh, hath an eye—to mankind, and to all the tribes of Israel;
Le poids de la parole de l’Eternel est sur le pays de Hadrâc, il repose sur Damas; car l’Eternel a l’œil sur les hommes, comme sur toutes les tribus d’Israël!
2 Moreover also, Hamath, adjoineth thereto, Tyre and Zidon, —because very wise;
Elle pèse aussi sur Hamath qui en est limitrophe, sur Tyr et Sidon, si grandement avisées.
3 Therefore did Tyre build a stronghold for herself, —and did heap up silver like dust, yea gold, like the mire of the lanes.
Tyr s’est bâti une enceinte fortifiée, elle a entassé de l’argent comme de la poussière, de l’or fin comme la boue des rues.
4 Lo! My Lord, shall dispossess her, and smite, into the sea, her fortress, —and, she herself, in fire, shall be consumed.
Mais voici, l’Eternel va la déposséder, il abattra ses remparts dans la mer, elle-même sera la proie du feu.
5 Ashkelon, shall see, and fear, Gaza, also, which shall writhe in great anguish, Ekron, also, because abashed is her expectation, —and the king, shall perish, from Gaza, and, Ashkelon, not be inhabited;
Ascalon la verra et aura peur, Gaza en tremblera de tous ses membres, de même Ekron, dont l’espoir est déçu. Plus de roi à Gaza! Ascalon cessera d’être habité.
6 And there shall be seated a half-breed in Ashdod, —So will I cut off the arrogance of the Philistines;
Des bâtards rempliront Asdod, et j’anéantirai l’orgueil du peuple des Philistins.
7 And will take away his reeking prey out of his mouth, and his abominations, from between his teeth, but, he that is left, even he, shall belong to our God, —So shall he become as a chief in Judah, and, Ekron, as a Jebusite!
Puis, j’enlèverai le sang de sa bouche et ses mets horribles d’entre ses dents; de la sorte il survivra lui aussi pour notre Dieu et sera l’égal des chefs dans Juda, et Ekron sera comme le Jébuséen.
8 Then will I encamp about my house—against an army, against him that passeth by, and against him that returneth, neither shall an exactor, tread them down any more, —for, now, have I seen with mine own eyes.
Et je ferai bonne garde autour de ma maison contre toute armée, contre les allants et venants. Nul oppresseur ne viendra plus les attaquer, car à présent j’aurai les yeux ouverts.
9 Exult greatly, O daughter of Zion, Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem, Lo! thy king, cometh unto thee, vindicated and victorious, is he, —lowly, and riding upon an ass, yea, upon a colt, a young ass.
Réjouis-toi fort, fille de Sion, jubile, fille de Jérusalem! Voici que ton roi vient à toi juste et victorieux, humble, monté sur un âne, sur le petit de l’ânesse.
10 So will he cut off the chariot out of Ephraim, and the horse out of Jerusalem, and the war-bow, shall be cut off, So shall he speak peace to the nations, and, his dominion, shall be from sea to sea, and from the river [Euphrates] to the ends of the earth.
Plus de chars en Ephraïm, plus de chevaux à Jérusalem, plus d’arc de guerre! Il dictera la paix aux nations. Son empire s’étendra d’une mer à l’autre, et du fleuve aux extrémités de la terre.
11 As for thee also, —By the blood of thy covenant, have I sent forth thy prisoners out of a pit, wherein is no water.
Et pour toi, en vertu du sang de ton alliance, je tirerai tes captifs de la citerne où il n’y a pas d’eau.
12 Return to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope, —Even to-day, do I declare—Double, will I return to thee!
Retournez dans la place forte, vous qui êtes engagés dans les liens de l’espérance! Aujourd’hui même je vous annonce que je vous paierai au double.
13 For I have bent for me—Judah, As a bow, have I grasped Ephraim, Thus will I rouse up thy sons, O Zion, against the sons of Greece, and will make thee as the sword of a mighty one.
Oui, je me fais de Juda comme un arc bandé, d’Ephraïm un carquois bien garni. Je vais lancer tes fils, ô Sion, contre les tiens, ô lavân! Tu seras pour moi comme une épée de héros.
14 But, Yahweh, over them, will appear, and forth shall go, as lightning, his arrow, —Yea, My Lord Yahweh, with a horn, will blow, and will move along in the whirlwinds of the south.
Et l’Eternel apparaîtra au-dessus d’eux; sa flèche s’élancera comme un éclair. Le Seigneur Dieu fera retentir la trompette et s’avancera dans les ouragans du Midi.
15 Yahweh of hosts, will throw a covering over them, so shall they eat, and trample underfoot sling-stones, and shall drink—shall shout as with wine, —and shall be filled like tossing-bowls, —like the corners of an altar.
L’Eternel-Cebaot étendra sa protection sur eux: ils ne feront qu’une bouchée des pierres de fronde qu’ils fouleront aux pieds, ils boiront et seront animés, comme pris de vin, gorgés comme les bassins et les angles de l’autel.
16 So will Yahweh their God, save them, on that day. yea, as a flock of sheep, his people, —for [they shall be like] the jewels of a diadem sparkling over his land.
L’Eternel, leur Dieu, leur prêtera main-forte, en ce jour, à ce peuple qui est son troupeau, car ce sont des pierres de diadème étincelant sur son territoire.
17 For how excellent it is! Yea how beautiful! Corn, shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the maidens.
Ah! Quel est son bonheur! Quelle est leur beauté! Le blé fait prospérer les jeunes gens et le vin généreux les jeunes filles.
