Zechariah 9
1 The oracle of the word of Yahweh on the land of Hadrach, and, Damascus, shall be the resting-place thereof, —For, Yahweh, hath an eye—to mankind, and to all the tribes of Israel;
Sentence Parole de Yahweh contre le pays d’Hadrach; et à Damas sera son séjour, — car Yahweh a l’œil sur les hommes, et sur toutes les tribus d’Israël; —
2 Moreover also, Hamath, adjoineth thereto, Tyre and Zidon, —because very wise;
et aussi à Hamath, voisine de Damas, à Tyr, ainsi qu’à Sidon, parce que leur sagesse est grande.
3 Therefore did Tyre build a stronghold for herself, —and did heap up silver like dust, yea gold, like the mire of the lanes.
Tyr s’est construit une citadelle, elle a amassé l’argent comme la poussière, et l’or comme la boue des rues.
4 Lo! My Lord, shall dispossess her, and smite, into the sea, her fortress, —and, she herself, in fire, shall be consumed.
Voici que le Seigneur s’en emparera; il frappera sur mer sa puissance, et elle-même sera dévorée par le feu.
5 Ashkelon, shall see, and fear, Gaza, also, which shall writhe in great anguish, Ekron, also, because abashed is her expectation, —and the king, shall perish, from Gaza, and, Ashkelon, not be inhabited;
Ascalon le verra et craindra; Gaza aussi, et elle se tordra de douleur; Accaron aussi, car son espérance est confondue. Il n’y aura plus de roi à Gaza, et Ascalon ne sera plus habitée.
6 And there shall be seated a half-breed in Ashdod, —So will I cut off the arrogance of the Philistines;
Un vil étranger s’installera à Azoth, et je détruirai l’orgueil des Philistins.
7 And will take away his reeking prey out of his mouth, and his abominations, from between his teeth, but, he that is left, even he, shall belong to our God, —So shall he become as a chief in Judah, and, Ekron, as a Jebusite!
J’ôterai son sang de sa bouche, et ses abominations d’entre ses dents; et lui aussi sera un reste pour notre Dieu; il sera comme un chefen Juda; et Accaron sera comme le Jébuséen.
8 Then will I encamp about my house—against an army, against him that passeth by, and against him that returneth, neither shall an exactor, tread them down any more, —for, now, have I seen with mine own eyes.
Je camperai autour de ma maison pour la défendre; contre toute armée, tout allant et venant; et il ne passera plus chez eux d’oppresseur, car maintenant j’ai vu de mes yeux.
9 Exult greatly, O daughter of Zion, Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem, Lo! thy king, cometh unto thee, vindicated and victorious, is he, —lowly, and riding upon an ass, yea, upon a colt, a young ass.
Tressaille d’une grande joie, fille de Sion! Pousse des cris d’allégresse, fille de Jérusalem! Voici que ton Roi vient à toi; il est juste, lui, et protégé de Dieu; il est humble; monté sur un âne, et sur un poulain, petit d’une ânesse.
10 So will he cut off the chariot out of Ephraim, and the horse out of Jerusalem, and the war-bow, shall be cut off, So shall he speak peace to the nations, and, his dominion, shall be from sea to sea, and from the river [Euphrates] to the ends of the earth.
Je retrancherai d’Ephraïm les chars de guerre, et de Jérusalem les chevaux, et l’arc du combat sera détruit. Il parlera de paix aux nations; sa domination s’étendra d’une mer à l’autre, du fleuve jusqu’aux extrémités de la terre.
11 As for thee also, —By the blood of thy covenant, have I sent forth thy prisoners out of a pit, wherein is no water.
Pour toi aussi, à cause du sang de ton alliance, je retirerai tes captifs de la fosse sans eau.
12 Return to the stronghold, ye prisoners of hope, —Even to-day, do I declare—Double, will I return to thee!
Revenez au lieu fort, captifs d’espérance! Aujourd’hui encore je le déclare: je te rendrai au double.
13 For I have bent for me—Judah, As a bow, have I grasped Ephraim, Thus will I rouse up thy sons, O Zion, against the sons of Greece, and will make thee as the sword of a mighty one.
Car je bande pour moi Juda, et sur l’arc je place Ephraïm; j’exciterai tes fils, ô Sion, contre tes fils, ô Javan, et je ferai de toi comme une épée de vaillant.
14 But, Yahweh, over them, will appear, and forth shall go, as lightning, his arrow, —Yea, My Lord Yahweh, with a horn, will blow, and will move along in the whirlwinds of the south.
Yahweh apparaîtra au-dessus d’eux, sa flèche partira comme l’éclair; le Seigneur Yahweh sonnera de la trompette, et s’avancera dans les ouragans du midi.
15 Yahweh of hosts, will throw a covering over them, so shall they eat, and trample underfoot sling-stones, and shall drink—shall shout as with wine, —and shall be filled like tossing-bowls, —like the corners of an altar.
Yahweh des armées les protégera; Ils dévoreront, ils fouleront aux pieds les pierres de fronde; Ils boiront, ils se démèneront comme pris de vin, et ils seront remplis comme la coupe des sacrifices, comme les cornes de l’autel.
16 So will Yahweh their God, save them, on that day. yea, as a flock of sheep, his people, —for [they shall be like] the jewels of a diadem sparkling over his land.
Yahweh leur Dieu sera leur salut en ce jour-là, le salut du troupeau qui est son peuple; ils seront comme des pierres de diadème, qui brilleront dans son pays.
17 For how excellent it is! Yea how beautiful! Corn, shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the maidens.
Quelle prospérité, quelle beauté que la leur! Le froment fera croître les jeunes gens, et le vin nouveau les vierges.
