Zechariah 7
1 And it came to pass, in the fourth year of Darius the king, that the word of Yahweh came unto Zechariah, on the fourth of the ninth month, in Chisleu;
La quatrième année du roi Darius, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Zacharie, au quatrième jour du neuvième mois, en Casleu.
2 yea when Bethel sent Sherezer and Regemmelech, and his men, —to pacify the face of Yahweh:
Béthel avait envoyé Sarasar et Rogommélech, avec ses gens, pour implorer Yahweh,
3 to speak unto the priests that pertained to the house of Yahweh of hosts, and unto the prophets, saying, —Shall I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
pour parler aux prêtres de la maison de Yahweh des armées et aux prophètes, en ces termes: « Dois-je pleurer au cinquième mois, et faire abstinence, comme j’ai fait depuis tant d’années? »
4 Then came the word of Yahweh of hosts unto me, saying:
La parole de Yahweh des armées me fut adressée en ces termes:
5 Speak thou unto all the people of the land, and unto the priests, saying, —When ye fasted and lamented in the fifth and in the seventh, even these seventy years, did ye, really fast, unto, me?
Parle à tout le peuple du pays et aux prêtres, en ces termes: Quand vous avez jeûné et célébré le deuil au cinquième et au septième mois, et cela depuis soixante-dix ans, est-ce pour moi que vous jeûniez?
6 And, when ye used to eat and when ye used to drink, was it not, of your own accord, ye did eat, and, of your own accord, ye did drink?
Et quand vous mangez et buvez, n’est-ce pas vous qui mangez et vous qui buvez?
7 Should ye not [have been doing] the things which Yahweh, had proclaimed, by the hand of the former prophets, while yet Jerusalem was inhabited and in peace, with her cities round about her, —and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?
N’y a-t-il pas les paroles qu’a proclamées Yahweh par l’intermédiaire des anciens prophètes, quand Jérusalem était habitée et tranquille, avec ses villes autour d’elle, et que le négéb et la sephélah étaient habités?
8 And the word of Yahweh came unto Zechariah, saying:
La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Zacharie en ces termes:
9 Thus, spake Yahweh of hosts, saying, —With true justice, give ye judgment, and, lovingkindness and compassions, observe ye, one with another;
Ainsi parlait Yahweh des armées en disant: « Rendez la justice selon la vérité; pratiquez la miséricorde et la compassion chacun envers son frère;
10 And, the widow and the fatherless, the sojourner and the humbled, do not ye oppress, —and, wickedness between one man and another, do not ye devise in your hearts.
n’opprimez pas la veuve et l’orphelin, l’étranger et le pauvre, et ne méditez pas l’un contre l’autre le mal dans vos cœurs. »
11 Howbeit they refused to give heed, but put forth a rebellious shoulder, —and, their ears, made they hard of hearing, that they might not hear;
Mais ils ont refusé d’écouter, ils ont prêté une épaule rebelle et endurci leurs oreilles pour ne pas entendre.
12 and, their heart, turned they into adamant, that they might not hear the law, nor the words which Yahweh of hosts sent by his spirit, through the former prophets, —and so there came great wrath from Yahweh of hosts.
Ils ont rendu leur cœur tel que le diamant, pour ne pas entendre la loi et les paroles que Yahweh des armées leur adressait par son Esprit, par l’intermédiaire des anciens prophètes. Aussi y eut-il une violente indignation de la part de Yahweh des armées.
13 Therefore came it to pass that—just as he cried out and they hearkened not, so, used they to cry out, and I used not to hearken, saith Yahweh of hosts;
Et il arriva: De même qu’il avait appelé sans qu’ils écoutassent, « de même ils appelleront sans que je les écoute, dit Yahweh des armées.
14 But I whirled them over all the nations whom they had not known, and, the land, was made desolate after them, that none passed through and returned, —Yea they made of a delightful land—a desolation.
Je les disperserai parmi toutes les nations qu’ils ne connaissent pas, et derrière eux le pays restera désolé, sans personne qui passe ou revienne. » D’un pays de délices ils ont fait un désert.
