< Zechariah 5 >

1 And once more lifted I mine eyes, and looked, —and lo! a Flying Volume.
And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked and behold a flying sickle.
2 And he said unto me, What canst thou see? So I said, I, can see a flying volume, the length thereof, twenty by the cubit, and, the breadth thereof, ten by the cubit.
And he said to me, What see you? And I said, I see a flying sickle, of the length of twenty cubits, and of the breadth of ten cubits.
3 Then said he unto me, This, is the curse, which is going forth over the face of all the earth, —Because, every one who stealeth, on the one side, hath in one way been let off, and, every one who sweareth, on the other side, hath in another way been let off,
And he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for every thief shall be punished with death on this side, and every false swearer shall be punished on that side.
4 [therefore] have I brought it forth, Declareth Yahweh of hosts, And it shall enter—into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth by my name, falsely, —and it shall roost in the midst of his house, and shall consume it, both the timbers thereof, and the stones thereof.
And I will bring it forth, says the Lord Almighty, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by my name: and it shall rest in the midst of his house, and shall consume it, and the timber of it, and the stones of it.
5 Then came forward, the messenger who was talking with me, —and said unto me—Lift up, I pray thee, thine eyes, and see what this is which is coming forth.
And the angel that talked with me went forth, and said to me, Lift up your eyes, and see this that goes forth.
6 And I said, What is it? Then said he, This, is an ephah that is coming forth. And he said, This, is their iniquity, throughout all the land.
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is the measure that goes forth. And he said, This is their iniquity in all the earth.
7 And lo! a leaden disc uplifted, —and here a certain woman, sitting inside the ephah.
And behold a talent of lead lifted up: and behold a woman sat in the midst of the measure.
8 Then said he, This, is Lawlessness. So he thrust her back inside the ephah, —and then thrust the leaden weight into the mouth thereof.
And he said, This is iniquity. And he cast it into the midst of the measure, and cast the weight of lead on the mouth of it.
9 Then lifted I up mine eyes and looked, and lo! Two Women coming forward, with the wind in their wings, and, they, had wings, like the wings of the stork, —and bare up the ephah, between the earth and the heavens.
And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, two women coming forth, and the wind was in their wings; and they had stork's wings: and they lifted up the measure between the earth and the sky.
10 Then said I unto the messenger who was speaking with me, —Whither are they carrying the ephah?
And I said to the angel that spoke with me, Whither do these carry away the measure?
11 And he said unto me, To build for it a house in the land of Shinar, —so shall it be ready, and they shall settle it there, upon its own base?
And he said to me, To build it a house in the land of Babylon, and to prepare [a place for it]; and they shall set it there on its own base.
