Zechariah 2
1 Then lifted I up mine eyes and looked, and lo! a Man, —and, in his hand, a Measuring Line.
Mi-am ridicat ochii din nou şi am privit şi iată, un om cu o frânghie de măsurat în mâna lui.
2 And I said, Whither art thou going? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what [should be] the breadth thereof, and what the length thereof.
Atunci am spus: Unde mergi? Şi el mi-a zis: Să măsor Ierusalimul, să văd care este lăţimea lui şi care este lungimea lui.
3 And lo! the messenger who was talking with me, coming forward, —and another messenger, coming forward to meet him.
Şi, iată, îngerul care vorbea cu mine a ieşit şi un alt înger a ieşit să îl întâlnească,
4 So he said unto him, Run, speak unto this young man, saying: Like open villages, shall Jerusalem remain, for the multitude of men and cattle in her midst;
Şi i-a zis: Aleargă, vorbeşte acestui tânăr, spunând: Ierusalimul va fi locuit ca oraşe fără ziduri, din cauza mulţimii oamenilor şi a vitelor din el;
5 And, I, will become to her, declareth Yahweh, A wall of fire round about, —and, a glory, will I become in her midst.
Fiindcă eu, spune DOMNUL, îi voi fi un zid de foc de jur împrejur şi voi fi glorie în mijlocul lui.
6 Ho! ho! flee ye, therefore, out of the land of the North, urgeth Yahweh. For, as the four winds of the heavens, have I spread you abroad, declareth Yahweh.
Hei, hei! ieşiţi şi fugiţi din ţara nordului, spune DOMNUL, pentru că v-am împrăştiat ca pe cele patru vânturi ale cerului, spune DOMNUL.
7 Ho! Zion, deliver thyself, —thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. For,
Eliberează-te, Sioane, care locuieşti cu fiica Babilonului!
8 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, For his own honour, hath he sent me unto the nations that are spoiling you, —Surely, he that toucheth you, toucheth the pupil of mine eye.
Pentru că astfel spune DOMNUL oştirilor: După glorie m-a trimis el la naţiunile care v-au prădat, pentru că cine se atinge de voi se atinge de lumina ochiului său.
9 For behold me! brandishing my hand over them, and they shall become a spoil unto their own slaves, —and ye shall know that, Yahweh of hosts, hath sent me.
Pentru că, iată, eu îmi voi scutura mâna peste ele şi vor ajunge o pradă servitorilor lor; şi veţi cunoaşte că DOMNUL oştirilor m-a trimis.
10 Sing out and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, —For behold me! coming in, and I will make my habitation in thy midst, declareth Yahweh.
Cântă şi bucură-te, fiică a Sionului, pentru că, iată, eu vin şi voi locui în mijlocul tău, spune DOMNUL.
11 Then shall many nations, join themselves, unto Yahweh, in that day, and shall become my people, —and I will make my habitation in thy midst, so shalt thou know that, Yahweh of hosts, hath sent me unto thee.
Şi multe naţiuni se vor alătura DOMNULUI în acea zi şi vor fi poporul meu; şi eu voi locui în mijlocul tău şi vei cunoaşte că DOMNUL oştirilor m-a trimis la tine.
12 Thus will Yahweh inherit Judah, his portion, on the soil of the sanctuary, —and make choice, yet again, of Jerusalem.
Şi DOMNUL va moşteni pe Iuda, partea lui în ţara sfântă; şi din nou va alege Ierusalimul.
13 Hush! all flesh, before Yahweh, —For he hath roused himself up out of his holy dwelling.
Să tacă toată făptura înaintea DOMNULUI, pentru că el s-a ridicat din locuinţa lui sfântă.
