Zechariah 2
1 Then lifted I up mine eyes and looked, and lo! a Man, —and, in his hand, a Measuring Line.
Je levai les yeux, et je vis, et voici, un homme qui tenait un cordeau à mesurer dans sa main.
2 And I said, Whither art thou going? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what [should be] the breadth thereof, and what the length thereof.
Alors je demandai: « Où vas-tu? » Il m'a dit: « Pour mesurer Jérusalem, pour voir quelle est sa largeur et quelle est sa longueur. »
3 And lo! the messenger who was talking with me, coming forward, —and another messenger, coming forward to meet him.
Voici que l'ange qui m'a parlé sort, et un autre ange va à sa rencontre,
4 So he said unto him, Run, speak unto this young man, saying: Like open villages, shall Jerusalem remain, for the multitude of men and cattle in her midst;
et lui dit: « Cours, parle à ce jeune homme, en disant: 'Jérusalem sera habitée comme des villages sans murs, à cause de la multitude d'hommes et de bêtes qui s'y trouvent.
5 And, I, will become to her, declareth Yahweh, A wall of fire round about, —and, a glory, will I become in her midst.
Car moi, dit Yahvé, je serai pour elle une muraille de feu tout autour, et je serai la gloire au milieu d'elle.
6 Ho! ho! flee ye, therefore, out of the land of the North, urgeth Yahweh. For, as the four winds of the heavens, have I spread you abroad, declareth Yahweh.
Viens! Venez! Fuyez du pays du nord, dit Yahvé, car je vous ai dispersés comme les quatre vents du ciel, dit Yahvé.
7 Ho! Zion, deliver thyself, —thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. For,
« Viens, Sion! Fuis, toi qui habites avec la fille de Babylone!
8 Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, For his own honour, hath he sent me unto the nations that are spoiling you, —Surely, he that toucheth you, toucheth the pupil of mine eye.
Car Yahvé des armées dit: « C'est pour l'honneur qu'il m'a envoyé vers les nations qui t'ont pillée, car celui qui te touche touche la prunelle de ses yeux.
9 For behold me! brandishing my hand over them, and they shall become a spoil unto their own slaves, —and ye shall know that, Yahweh of hosts, hath sent me.
Car voici, j'agiterai ma main sur elles, et elles seront un butin pour ceux qui les ont servies; et vous saurez que l'Éternel des armées m'a envoyé.
10 Sing out and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, —For behold me! coming in, and I will make my habitation in thy midst, declareth Yahweh.
Chante et réjouis-toi, fille de Sion! Car voici, je viens et j'habiterai au milieu de toi, dit Yahvé.
11 Then shall many nations, join themselves, unto Yahweh, in that day, and shall become my people, —and I will make my habitation in thy midst, so shalt thou know that, Yahweh of hosts, hath sent me unto thee.
En ce jour-là, des nations nombreuses se joindront à Yahvé et seront mon peuple; j'habiterai au milieu de vous, et vous saurez que Yahvé des armées m'a envoyé vers vous.
12 Thus will Yahweh inherit Judah, his portion, on the soil of the sanctuary, —and make choice, yet again, of Jerusalem.
L'Éternel fera de Juda sa part dans la terre sainte, et il choisira de nouveau Jérusalem.
13 Hush! all flesh, before Yahweh, —For he hath roused himself up out of his holy dwelling.
Silence, toute chair, devant l'Éternel, car il s'est réveillé de sa demeure sainte! »
