Zechariah 1
1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yahweh unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying: —
Le huitième mois, en la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Barachie, petit-fils d’Addo, le prophète, en ces termes:
2 Yahweh, was sore displeased, with your fathers:
Yahweh a été dans un grand courroux contre vos pères.
3 therefore shalt thou say unto them, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Return ye unto me, urgeth Yahweh of hosts, —that I may return unto you, saith Yahweh of hosts.
Et tu leur diras: Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Revenez à moi, — oracle de Yahweh des armées, et je reviendrai à vous, — dit Yahweh des armées.
4 Do not become like your fathers, unto whom the former prophets, proclaimed, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Return, I pray you, from your wicked ways, and from your wicked practices; but they heard not, nor hearkened unto me, declareth Yahweh.
Ne soyez pas comme vos pères, auxquels ont prêché les premiers prophètes en disant: « Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Revenez donc de vos mauvaises voies, et de vos mauvaises actions! » et qui n’ont pas écouté et ne m’ont pas prêté attention, — oracle de Yahweh.
5 Your fathers, where are they? and, the prophets, to times age-abiding, do they live?
Vos pères, où sont-ils? Et les prophètes, pouvaient-ils vivre éternellement?
6 Howbeit, as for my words and my statutes with which I charged my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? and so they returned and said, Just as Yahweh of hosts planned to do unto us, according to our ways and according to our practices, So hath he dealt with us?
Mais mes paroles et mes décrets, dont j’avais chargé mes serviteurs les prophètes, n’ont-ils pas atteint vos pères, si bien qu’ils se sont convertis et ont dit: « Comme Yahweh des armées avait résolu d’agir à notre égard, selon nos voies et selon nos actions, ainsi il a agi envers nous. »
7 Upon the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the same, is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yahweh unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, as followeth:
Le vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Sabath, en la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Dieu fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Barachie, petit-fils d’Addo, le prophète, en ces termes:
8 I looked by night, And lo! a man riding upon a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle trees, in the shade; and, after him, were horses, red, bay, and white.
J’ai eu une vision pendant la nuit: Voici qu’un homme était monté sur un cheval roux, et il se tenait entre des myrtes dans un lieu ombragé, et il y avait derrière lui des chevaux roux, alezans et blancs.
9 Then said I, What are these, my lord? And the messenger who was speaking with me, said unto me, I, will shew thee what these, are.
Je dis: « Que sont ceux-ci, mon seigneur? » Et l’ange qui parlait avec moi me dit: « Je te ferai voir ce que sont ceux-ci. »
10 So the man who was standing among the myrtle-trees responded, and said, —These, are they whom Yahweh, hath sent, to go to and fro through the earth.
Et l’homme qui se tenait entre les myrtes prit la parole et dit: « Ce sont ceux que Yahweh a envoyés pour parcourir la terre. »
11 Then responded they to the messenger of Yahweh, who was standing among the myrtle-trees, and said, We have gone to and fro through the earth, —and lo! all the earth, resteth and is quiet.
Et ils répondirent à l’ange de Yahweh qui se tenait entre les myrtes, et ils dirent: « Nous avons parcouru la terre, et voici que toute la terre est habitée et tranquille. »
12 Then the messenger of Yahweh responded, and said, O Yahweh of hosts! How long wilt, thou, not have compassion upon Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, —against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?
L’ange de Yahweh prit la parole et dit: « Yahweh des armées, jusques à quand n’auras-tu pas pitié de Jérusalem et des villes de Juda contre lesquelles tu es irrité voilà soixante-dix ans? »
13 And Yahweh answered the messenger who was speaking with me, in words that were pleasant, —words that were consoling,
Et Yahweh adressa à l’ange qui parlait avec moi de bonnes paroles, des paroles de consolation.
14 Then the messenger who was speaking with me, said unto me, Proclaim thou, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, I am jealous for Jerusalem, and for Zion, with a great jealousy;
Et l’ange qui parlait avec moi me dit: « Proclame ceci: Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: J’ai été animé d’une grande jalousie pour Jérusalem et pour Sion;
15 And, with a great displeasure, am I displeased with the careless nations, —in that, when, I, was displeased (for) a little, then, they, helped forward the calamity,
et je suis animé d’un grand courroux contre les nations qui vivent dans l’opulence! Car moi, j’étais un peu irrité; et elles ont, elles, travaillé à la ruine.
16 Wherefore, Thus, saith Yahweh, I have returned to Jerusalem, with compassions, My house, shall be built therein, declareth Yahweh of hosts, and, a line, shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem.
C’est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh: Je reviens à Jérusalem avec compassion; ma maison y sera rebâtie, — oracle de Yahweh des armées, et le cordeau sera étendu sur Jérusalem.
17 Further, proclaim thou, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, Yet, shall my cities overflow with blessing! So will Yahweh yet, have compassion, upon Zion, and yet make choice of Jerusalem.
Proclame encore ceci: Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Mes villes regorgeront encore de biens, et Yahweh consolera encore Sion, et choisira encore Jérusalem. »
18 Then lifted I up mine eyes and looked, —and lo! Four Horns.
Je levai les yeux et je vis: Et voici quatre cornes.
19 And I said unto the messenger who was speaking with me, What are these? And he said unto me, These, are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.
Et je dis à l’ange qui parlait avec moi: « Que sont celles-ci? » Il me dit: « Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem. »
20 Then Yahweh shewed me Four Craftsmen.
Et Yahweh me fit voir quatre forgerons.
21 And I said, What are these coming in to do? And he spake, saying, These, are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man lifted up his head, but these [others] have come in to put them in fear, to cast down the horns of the nations, the which have lifted up the horn against the land of Judah to scatter her.
Et je dis: « Que viennent faire ceux-ci? » Il répondit en ces termes: « Ce sont là les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, au point que personne ne levait la tête, et ceux-ci sont venus pour les frapper de terreur, pour abattre les cornes des nations qui ont levé la corne contre le pays de Juda pour le disperser.
