Romans 14
1 Him that is weak in his faith, receive ye, —not for disputing opinions: —
Aceitem aqueles que ainda lutam para crer em Deus e não discutam opiniões pessoais.
2 One, indeed, hath faith to eat all things, whereas, he that is weak, eateth herbs:
Algumas pessoas acham que podem comer qualquer alimento, enquanto outras, cuja fé é fraca, comem apenas vegetais e legumes.
3 Let not, him that eateth, despise him that eateth not, and let not, him that eateth not, judge him that eateth; for, God, hath received him.
Quem come qualquer alimento não deve desprezar o outro que não age assim. E, em contrapartida, quem come apenas vegetais e legumes não deve também criticar quem não faz assim, pois Deus aceitou tanto a um quanto ao outro.
4 Who art, thou, that judgest another’s domestic? To his own master, he standeth or falleth; he shall, however, be made to stand, —for his master is able to make him stand.
Que direito você tem de julgar o servo de outra pessoa? É o próprio dono dele quem decide, esteja certo ou errado. Com a ajuda do Senhor, ele será capaz de se posicionar pelo que é certo.
5 [For], one, indeed esteemeth one day beyond another, whereas, another, esteemeth every day: —let, each one, in his own mind be fully persuaded.
Algumas pessoas consideram certos dias mais importantes do que outros; enquanto outras acham que todos os dias são iguais. Todos devem estar muito certos a respeito da sua própria escolha.
6 He that regardeth the day, unto the Lord, regardeth it, —and, he that eateth, unto the Lord, doth eat, for he giveth thanks unto God; and, he that eateth not, unto the Lord, doth not eat and give God thanks.
Quem respeita um dia especial faz dessa forma em honra ao Senhor, e aquele que come sem se preocupar também faz assim pelo Senhor, pois ele dá graças a Deus. Em contrapartida, quem evita comer determinadas coisas faz isso em nome do Senhor e, também, agradece a Deus.
7 For, none of us, unto himself liveth, and, none, unto himself dieth;
Nenhum de nós vive para si mesmo, ou morre para si mesmo.
8 For both, if we live, unto the Lord, we live, and, if we die, unto the Lord, we die; whether therefore we live, the Lord’s, we are; or whether we die, the Lord’s, we are;
Se nós vivemos, para o Senhor vivemos, ou se nós morremos, para o Senhor morremos. Então, seja na vida ou na morte, nós pertencemos ao Senhor.
9 For, to this end, Christ died and lived, in order that, both of dead and living, he might have lordship.
É por isso que Cristo morreu e voltou à vida, para que ele pudesse ser o Senhor tanto dos mortos quanto dos vivos.
10 But, thou, why dost thou judge thy brother? Aye! and thou, why dost thou despise thy brother? For, all of us, shall present ourselves unto the judgment seat of God;
Então, por que você critica o seu irmão? Por que você despreza o seu irmão? Todos nós ficaremos diante de Deus para sermos julgados.
11 For it is written—Living am, I, saith the Lord, unto me, shall bow every knee, and, every tongue, shall openly confess unto God.
Pois as Sagradas Escrituras dizem: “‘Tão certo quanto o fato de eu estar vivo,’ diz o Senhor, ‘todos se ajoelharão diante de mim, e todos irão declarar que eu sou Deus.’”
12 Hence, [then], each one of us, of himself shall give account unto God.
Então, todos nós teremos que nos explicar para Deus.
13 No longer, then, upon one another, let us be sitting in judgment, but, this, judge ye rather—not to be putting a cause of stumbling before your brother or an occasion to fall.
Portanto, não julguemos mais uns aos outros. Em vez disso, não coloquemos obstáculos no caminho dos irmãos e não façamos com que eles caiam.
14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus—that, nothing, is profane of itself, —save to him who reckoneth anything to be profane, unto that man, [it is] profane,
Eu tenho certeza, convencido pelo Senhor Jesus, de que nada em si é cerimonialmente impuro. Mas, se alguém considera uma coisa como sendo impura, ela se torna impura para essa pessoa.
15 If, in fact, because of food, thy brother is being grieved, no longer, by the rule of love, art thou walking: —do not, by thy food, that man, be destroying, on whose behalf Christ died!
Se o seu irmão se magoa com você por causa de questões sobre alimentos, então, você não está mais se comportando com amor. Não destrua alguém por quem Cristo morreu baseado apenas no que essa pessoa decide comer.
16 Therefore, suffer not to be defamed, your own good thing;
Não deixe que as boas ações que você realiza se percam,
17 For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in Holy Spirit;
pois o Reino de Deus não é sobre comer e beber, mas, sim, sobre como viver de forma justa, ter paz e se alegrar no Espírito Santo.
18 For, he that in this doeth service unto the Christ, is acceptable unto God, and approved unto men.
Qualquer um que sirva a Cristo dessa forma agrada a Deus, além de ser valorizado pelos outros.
19 Hence, then, the things pertaining to peace, let us pursue, and the things which belong to the upbuilding one of another:
Então, vamos buscar o caminho da paz e descobrir formas de incentivar uns aos outros.
20 Do not, for the sake of food, be throwing down the work of God! All things, indeed, are pure; but, ill, is it for the man who with occasion of stumbling doth eat, —
Não destrua o trabalho de Deus com argumentos a respeito de comida. Todas as coisas são puras, mas seria errado comer algo que ofendesse os outros.
21 Well, is it not to eat flesh nor to drink wine nor [to do aught] whereby thy brother is caused to stumble.
É melhor não comer carne ou beber vinho ou outra coisa que faça o seu irmão tropeçar.
22 The faith which thou hast, have to thyself before God: happy, he that bringeth not judgment upon himself by that which he approveth;
A forma como você crê em relação a isso deve ficar apenas entre você e Deus. Felizes aqueles que não condenam a si mesmos por fazerem o que acham que é certo!
23 But, he that is in doubt, if he eat, hath condemned himself, —because, [it was] not of faith, and, everything which is not of faith, is sin.
Mas, caso tenham dúvidas a respeito do que é certo quanto ao comer e se não estiverem convencidos disso, então, não comam. Qualquer coisa que não seja baseada na certeza é pecado.
