Psalms 1

1 How happy the man, who hath not walked in the counsel of the lawless, —and, in the way of sinners, hath not stood, and, in the seat of scoffers, hath not sat;

Bienheureux est l'homme qui ne vit point selon le conseil des méchants, et qui ne s'arrête point dans la voie des pécheurs, et qui ne s'assied point au banc des moqueurs;

2 But, in the law of Yahweh, is his delight, —and, in his law, doth he talk with himself day and night.

Mais qui prend plaisir en la Loi de l'Eternel, et qui médite jour et nuit en sa Loi.

3 So doth he become like a tree planted by streams of waters, —that yieldeth, its fruit, in its season, whose leaf, also doth not wither, and, whatsoever he doeth, prospereth.

Car il sera comme un arbre planté près des ruisseaux d'eaux, qui rend son fruit en sa saison, et duquel le feuillage ne se flétrit point; et [ainsi] tout ce qu'il fera prospérera.

4 Not so, the lawless, —but as chaff which is driven about by the wind:

Il n'en sera pas ainsi des méchants; mais ils seront comme la balle que le vent chasse au loin.

5 For this cause, shall the lawless not stand in the judgment, —nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

C'est pourquoi les méchants ne subsisteront point en jugement, ni les pécheurs dans l'assemblée des justes.

6 For Yahweh doth acknowledge the way of the righteous; but, the way of the lawless, shall vanish.

Car l'Eternel connaît la voie des justes; mais la voie des méchants périra.
