Psalms 1

1 How happy the man, who hath not walked in the counsel of the lawless, —and, in the way of sinners, hath not stood, and, in the seat of scoffers, hath not sat;

Heureux l'homme qui n'est point allé au conseil des impies qui ne s'est pas arrêté dans la voie des pécheurs et ne s'est point assis dans la chaire de pestilence,

2 But, in the law of Yahweh, is his delight, —and, in his law, doth he talk with himself day and night.

Mais dont la volonté est conforme à la loi du Seigneur, et qui, nuit et jour, méditera sur cette loi.

3 So doth he become like a tree planted by streams of waters, —that yieldeth, its fruit, in its season, whose leaf, also doth not wither, and, whatsoever he doeth, prospereth.

Il sera comme l'arbre planté au bord des eaux, et qui donnera son fruit en sa saison; ses feuilles ne tomberont jamais, et en toutes ses œuvres il prospérera.

4 Not so, the lawless, —but as chaff which is driven about by the wind:

Ils ne sont pas ainsi les impies, ils ne sont pas ainsi; mais ils sont comme la paille que le vent balaie sur la face de la terre.

5 For this cause, shall the lawless not stand in the judgment, —nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

C'est pourquoi les impies ne ressusciteront pas dans le jugement, ni les pécheurs dans l'assemblée des justes.

6 For Yahweh doth acknowledge the way of the righteous; but, the way of the lawless, shall vanish.

Car le Seigneur connaît la voie des justes; et la voie des pécheurs périra.
