Psalms 66
1 To the Chief Musician. A Melodious Song. Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth;
[Dem Vorsänger. Ein Lied, ein Psalm. [Eig. Ein Psalm-Lied] ] Jauchzet Gott, ganze Erde!
2 Praise ye in song the glory of his Name, Celebrate the glory of his praise:
Besinget die Herrlichkeit seines Namens, machet herrlich sein Lob!
3 Say unto God—How fearful in thy doings, Through the abounding of thy power, shall thy foes come cringing unto thee;
Sprechet zu Gott: Wie furchtbar sind deine Werke! Wegen der Größe deiner Stärke unterwerfen sich dir deine Feinde mit Schmeichelei. [S. die Anm. zu Psalm 18,44]
4 All the earth, shall bow themselves down to thee, And sing praises unto thee, Shall praise in song thy Name. (Selah)
Die ganze Erde wird dich anbeten und dir Psalmen singen; sie wird besingen deinen Namen. (Sela)
5 Come and see the doings of God, —Fearful in deed toward the sons of men:
Kommet und sehet die Großtaten Gottes; furchtbar ist er in seinem Tun gegen die Menschenkinder.
6 He turned the sea into dry land, Through the stream, crossed they over on foot, There did we rejoice in him:
Er wandelte das Meer in trockenes Land, sie gingen zu Fuß durch den Strom; da [O. dort] freuten wir uns in ihm.
7 Who ruleth, in his might, unto times age abiding, His eyes, over the nations, keep watch, The rebellious, let them not exalt themselves. (Selah)
Er herrscht durch seine Macht auf ewig; seine Augen beobachten die [Eig. spähen unter den] Nationen. -Daß sich nicht erheben die Widerspenstigen! (Sela)
8 Bless our God, O ye peoples, And cause to be heard, the sound of his praise; —
Preiset, ihr Völker, unseren Gott, und lasset hören die Stimme seines Lobes;
9 Who hath set our soul among the living, And hath not suffered, our foot, to slip.
der unsere Seele am Leben erhalten [W. ins Leben versetzt] und nicht zugelassen hat, daß unsere Füße wankten!
10 For thou didst prove us, O God, Thou didst refine us, according to the refining of silver:
Denn du hast uns geprüft, o Gott, du hast uns geläutert, wie man Silber läutert.
11 Thou didst bring us into the hunter’s net, Thou didst lay a load upon our loins;
Du hast uns ins Netz gebracht, hast eine drückende Last auf unsere Lenden gelegt.
12 Thou didst let men ride at our head; We went into fire and into water, But thou didst bring us forth into freedom.
Du hast Menschen reiten lassen auf unserem Haupte; wir sind ins Feuer und ins Wasser gekommen, aber du hast uns herausgeführt zu überströmender Erquickung. [W. zur Überströmung; and. l.: ins Weite]
13 I will enter thy house with ascending-sacrifices, I will pay unto thee my vows,
Ich will eingehen in dein Haus mit Brandopfern, will dir bezahlen meine Gelübde,
14 Which my lips uttered, And my mouth spake, in my distress.
Wozu sich weit aufgetan meine Lippen, und die mein Mund ausgesprochen hat in meiner Bedrängnis.
15 Ascending-sacrifices of fatlings, will I cause to ascend unto thee, With the perfume of rams, I will offer bulls, with he-goats. (Selah)
Brandopfer von Mastvieh will ich dir opfern samt Räucherwerk von Widdern; Rinder samt Böcken will ich opfern. (Sela)
16 Come! hearken—that I may recount, all ye reverers of God, What he hath done for my soul: —
Kommet, höret zu, alle, die ihr Gott fürchtet, und ich will erzählen, was er an meiner Seele getan hat.
17 Unto him—with my mouth, did I cry, And high praise was under my tongue.
Zu ihm rief ich mit meinem Munde, und seine Erhebung war unter meiner Zunge.
18 If, iniquity, I had cared for in my heart, My Lord, had not heard me!
Wenn ich es in meinem Herzen auf Frevel abgesehen hätte, so würde der Herr nicht gehört haben.
19 But in truth, God hath heard, He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
Doch Gott hat gehört, er hat gemerkt auf die Stimme meines Gebets.
20 Blessed be God, Who hath not turned away my prayer, Nor his own lovingkindness from me.
Gepriesen sei Gott, der nicht abgewiesen hat mein Gebet, noch von mir abgewandt seine Güte!
