< Psalms 56 >
1 To the Chief Musician. Upon "The Dove of God from the distant Sea." David’s. A precious Psalm. When the Philistines seized him in Gath. Show me favour, O God, For weak man hath panted for me, All the day, a fighter oppresseth me:
E ALOHA mai ia'u, e ke Akua; No ka mea, e ale mai paha na kanaka ia'u; E paio aua i kela la i keia la, ua hooluhihewa mai oia ia'u.
2 Mine adversaries have panted all the day, For, many, are fighting with me, loftily.
E ake ko'u mau enemi e ale ia'u i kela la i keia la; No ka mea, he nui no ka poe e kaua ana ia'u, e ka Mea kiekie loa.
3 What day I am afraid, I, unto thee will direct my confidence.
I ko'u manawa e makau ai, E hilinai aku au ia oe.
4 In God, I will praise his cause, —In God, have I trusted, I will not fear, What can flesh do unto me?
Iloko o ke Akua e mahalo au i kana olelo; O ke Akua ka'u i hilinai aku ai, aole au e makau; Heaha ka ka io o hana mai ai ia'u?
5 All the day, they wrest, my words, Against me, all their devices are for mischief;
I kela la i keia la, ua hookahuli lakou i ka'u mau olelo; Pau ko lakou mau manao i ke ku e ia'u no ka hewa.
6 They stir up strife—they lie hid, They, mark my steps, —Seeing they have waited for my life.
Ua akoakoa lakou, ua pee iho la hoi, Ua nana mai lakou i ko u mau kapuwai, I ko lakou kakali ana i ko'u uhane.
7 Because of iniquity, recompense thou them, —In anger, bring thou down, the peoples, O God.
He pakele anei ko lakou ma ka hewa? I ka huhu, e kiola iho ai i na kanaka, e ke Akua,
8 My wandering, hast, thou, recorded, —Put thou my tears in thy bottle, Are they not in thy record?
Ua helu oe i ko'u auwana ana: E ukuki oe i ko'u waimaka i kou omole: Aole anei ia iloko o kau buke?
9 Then, shall my foes turn back, in the day I cry, This, I know, for God is mine!
Aia kahea aku au, alaila e hoi ihope ko'u enemi: Ua ike au ia mea, no ka mea, mamuli o'u ke Akua.
10 In God, will I praise with good cause: In Yahweh, will I praise with good cause;
Iloko o ke Akua e mahalo mau au i ka olelo: Iloko o Iehova e hoomaikai au i ka olelo:
11 In God, have I trusted, I will not fear, What can a son of earth do unto me!
Maluna o ke Akua i hilinai aku ai au, aole e makau; Heaha ka ke kanaka e hana mai ai ia'u?
12 Upon me, O God, are thy vows, I will pay back praises unto thee.
Maluna o'u ka berita ana nou, e ke Akua: E haawi aku au i ka hoolea ia oe.
13 For thou hast rescued my soul from death, Wilt thou not [rescue] my feet from stumbling? That I may walk to and fro, before God, In the light of life.
No ka mea, ua hoopakele oe i ko'u uhane i ka make: Aole anei e hoopakele i ko'u mau kapuwai i ka hina ana? I hele au imua o ke Akua ma ka malamalama o ka poe ola.
