Psalms 54

1 To the Chief Musician: with Stringed Instruments. A Psalm of Instruction, of David. When the Ziphites came and said unto Saul, Is not, David, hiding himself, with us? O God! by thine own Name, save me, And, by thine own strength, wilt thou vindicate me?

Maskil de David, [donné] au maître chantre, [pour le chanter] sur Néguinoth. Touchant ce que les Ziphiens vinrent à Saül, et lui dirent: David ne se tient-il pas caché parmi nous? Ô Dieu, délivre-moi par ton Nom, et me fais justice par ta puissance.

2 O God! Hear my prayer, Give ear to the sayings of my mouth;

Ô Dieu, écoute ma requête, [et] prête l'oreille aux paroles de ma bouche.

3 For, aliens, have risen up against me, And, men of violence, have sought my life, They have not set God before them. (Selah)

Car des étrangers se sont élevés contre moi, et des gens terribles, qui n'ont point Dieu devant leurs yeux, cherchent ma vie; (Sélah)

4 Lo! God, is bringing me help, My Lord, is with the upholders of my life;

Voilà, Dieu m'accorde son secours; le Seigneur [est] de ceux qui soutiennent mon âme.

5 Let him turn back the mischief upon mine adversaries, In thy faithfulness, destroy them!

Il fera retourner le mal sur ceux qui m'épient; détruis-les selon ta vérité.

6 With a freewill-offering, will I sacrifice unto thee, I will praise thy Name, O Yahweh, for it is good;

Je te ferai sacrifice de bon cœur; Eternel! je célébrerai ton Nom, parce qu'il est bon.

7 For, out of all distress, hath he rescued me, —And, upon my foes, hath, mine own eye, looked.

Car il m'a délivré de toute détresse: et mon œil a vu [ce qu'il voulait voir] en mes ennemis.
