Psalms 38
1 A Melody of David. To bring to Remembrance. O Yahweh, do not, in thine anger, correct me, nor, in thy wrath, chastise me;
Psaume de David, pour réduire en mémoire. Eternel, ne me reprends point en ta colère, et ne me châtie point en ta fureur.
2 For, thine arrows, have sunk down into me, and thy hand, presseth heavily upon me.
Car tes flèches sont entrées en moi, et ta main s'est appesantie sur moi.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh, By reason of thine indignation, There is no peace in my bones, By reason of my sin;
Il n'y a rien d'entier en ma chair, à cause de ton indignation; ni de repos dans mes os, à cause de mon péché.
4 For, mine iniquities, have passed over my head, Like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me:
Car mes iniquités ont surmonté ma tête, elles se sont appesanties comme un pesant fardeau, au-delà de mes forces.
5 My wounds are of bad odour—they have festered, by reason of my folly:
Mes plaies sont pourries [et] coulent, à cause de ma folie.
6 I am bent, I am bowed down very low. All the day, have I gloomily walked;
Je suis courbé et penché outre mesure; je marche en deuil tout le jour.
7 For, my loins, are filled with inflammation, and there is no soundness in my flesh:
Car mes aines sont remplies d'inflammation, et dans ma chair il [n'y a] rien d'entier.
8 I am benumbed and crushed exceedingly, —I have cried aloud because of the groaning of my heart.
Je suis affaibli et tout brisé, je rugis du grand frémissement de mon cœur.
9 O My Lord! before thee, is all my longing, and, my sighing, from thee, hath not been hid:
Seigneur, tout mon désir est devant toi, et mon gémissement ne t'est point caché.
10 My heart, fluttereth, my strength hath forsaken me, and, as for the light of mine eyes, even they, are not with me:
Mon cœur est agité çà et là, ma force m'a abandonné, et la clarté aussi de mes yeux: même ils ne sont plus avec moi.
11 My lovers, and my friends, from before my stroke, stand aloof, —and, my near ones, far away, do stand:
Ceux qui m'aiment, et même mes intimes amis, se tiennent loin de ma plaie, et mes proches se tiennent loin de [moi].
12 Yea they who are seeking my life, have laid snares, and they who are asking my harm, have threatened engulfing ruin, And, deceitful things—all day long, do they mutter.
Et ceux qui cherchent ma vie, m'ont tendu des filets, et ceux qui cherchent ma perte, parlent de calamités, et songent des tromperies tout le jour.
13 But, I, as one deaf, will not hear, —and as one dumb, who will not open his mouth:
Mais moi je n'entends non plus qu'un sourd, et je suis comme un muet qui n'ouvre point sa bouche.
14 Thus have I become as a man who cannot hear, in whose mouth are no arguments:
Je suis, dis-je, comme un homme qui n'entend point, et qui n'a point de réplique en sa bouche.
15 Because, for thee, O Yahweh, have I waited, Thou, wilt answer, O Adonay, my God!
Puisque je me suis attendu à toi, ô Eternel, tu me répondras, Seigneur mon Dieu!
16 For I said, Lest they rejoice over me! When my feet were tottering, against me, have they magnified themselves:
Car j'ai dit: [Il faut prendre garde] qu'ils ne triomphent de moi: quand mon pied glisse, ils s'élèvent contre moi.
17 For, I, to halt, am ready, and, my pain, is before me continually;
Quand je suis prêt à clocher; et que ma douleur est continuellement devant moi;
18 For, mine iniquity, will I declare, I shall be anxious because of my sin;
Quand je déclare mon iniquité [et] que je suis en peine pour mon péché.
19 And, my foes, are alive—have become strong, —and multiplied are they who hate me for false cause:
Cependant mes ennemis, qui sont vivants, se renforcent, et ceux qui me haïssent à tort se multiplient.
20 Even they who are repaying evil for good, accuse me because I pursue the good.
Et ceux qui me rendent le mal pour le bien, me sont contraires, parce que je recherche le bien.
21 Do not forsake me, O Yahweh, My God! be not far from me:
Eternel, ne m'abandonne point; mon Dieu! ne t'éloigne point de moi.
22 Make haste to help me, My Lord, my deliverance!
Hâte-toi de venir à mon secours, Seigneur, qui es ma délivrance.
