< Psalms 31 >
1 To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. In thee, O Yahweh, have I sought refuge, Let me not be ashamed to times age-abiding, In thy righteousness, deliver me:
To victorie, the salm of Dauid. Lord, Y hopide in thee, be Y not schent with outen ende; delyuere thou me in thi riytfulnesse.
2 Incline unto me, thine ear, Speedily rescue me, —Become to me a Rock of refuge, a Place of security, For saving me.
Bouwe doun thin eere to me; haaste thou to delyuere me. Be thou to me in to God defendere, and in to an hows of refuyt; that thou make me saaf.
3 Because, my mountain crag and my stronghold, thou art, Therefore, for the sake of thine own Name, wilt thou lead me and guide me?
For thou art my strengthe and my refuyt; and for thi name thou schalt lede me forth, and schalt nurische me.
4 Wilt thou bring me forth, out of the net which they have hidden for me? For, thou, art my refuge.
Thou schalt lede me out of the snare, which thei hidden to me; for thou art my defendere.
5 Into thy hand, do I commit my spirit—Thou hast ransomed me, O Yahweh, GOD most faithful.
I bitake my spirit in to thin hondis; Lord God of treuthe, thou hast ayen bouyt me.
6 I hate such as give heed to false vanities, I, then, in Yahweh, have set my hope.
Thou hatist hem that kepen vanytees superfluli.
7 I will indeed exult and rejoice, in thy lovingkindness, —In that thou hast looked upon my humiliation, thou hast taken note that in distresses was my life;
Forsothe Y hopide in the Lord; Y schal haue fulli ioie, and schal be glad in thi merci. For thou byheldist my mekenesse; thou sauedist my lijf fro nedis.
8 And hast not shut me up in the hand of the foe, Thou hast given standing, in a roomy place, unto my feet.
And thou closidist not me togidere withynne the hondis of the enemy; thou hast sett my feet in a large place.
9 Show me favour, O Yahweh, for in distress am I, —Wasted with vexation, is mine eye—my soul and my body;
Lord, haue thou merci on me, for Y am troblid; myn iye is troblid in ire, my soule and my wombe `ben troblid.
10 For, consumed with sorrow, is my life, and my years with sighing, —My strength hath staggered with my humiliation, and, my bones, are without marrow.
For whi my lijf failide in sorewe; and my yeeris in weilynges. Mi vertu is maad feble in pouert; and my boonys ben disturblid.
11 By reason of all mine adversaries, have I become a reproach. Even to my neighbours, altogether, and a dread to mine acquaintance, —They who have seen me abroad, have fled from me:
Ouer alle myn enemyes Y am maad schenship greetli to my neiyboris; and drede to my knowun. Thei that sien me with outforth, fledden fro me; Y am youun to foryetyng,
12 I have been forgotten, like one dead—out of mind, I have been as a missing vessel.
as a deed man fro herte. I am maad as a lorun vessel;
13 For I have heard the whispering of many—A terror round about! When they have sat in conclave together against me, to take away my life, have they intrigued.
for Y herde dispisyng of many men dwellynge in cumpas. In that thing the while thei camen togidere ayens me; thei counceliden to take my lijf.
14 I, therefore. in thee, have put my trust, O Yahweh, I have said, My God, thou art!
But, Lord, Y hopide in thee; Y seide, Thou art my God; my tymes ben in thin hondis.
15 In thy hand, are my times, Rescue me from the hand of my foes and from my pursuers!
Delyuer thou me fro the hondis of mynen enemyes; and fro hem that pursuen me.
16 Cause thy face to shine upon thy servant, Save me in thy lovingkindness.
Make thou cleer thi face on thi seruaunt; Lord, make thou me saaf in thi merci;
17 O Yahweh! let me not be ashamed, For I have called upon thee, Let the lawless be ashamed, Go down in silence to hades! (Sheol )
be Y not schent, for Y inwardli clepide thee. Unpitouse men be aschamed, and be led forth in to helle; (Sheol )
18 Let false lips be made dumb, —which are speaking—against a righteous one—arrogantly, with pride and contempt.
gileful lippys be maad doumbe. That speken wickidnesse ayens a iust man; in pride, and in mysusyng.
19 How great is thy goodness, which thou hast hidden away for them who revere thee, —Thou hast wrought for them who seek refuge in thee, in sight of the sons of men.
Lord, the multitude of thi swetnesse is ful greet; which thou hast hid to men dredynge thee. Thou hast maad a perfit thing to hem, that hopen in thee; in the siyt of the sones of men.
20 Thou wilt conceal them, in the secrecy of thine own presence, from the conspiracies of men, —Thou wilt hide them in a pavilion, from the strife of tongues.
Thou schalt hide hem in the priuyte of thi face; fro disturblyng of men. Thou schalt defende hem in thi tabernacle; fro ayenseiyng of tungis.
21 Blessed be Yahweh, for he hath made wonderful his lovingkindness for me, in a fortified city.
Blessid be the Lord; for he hath maad wondurful his merci to me in a strengthid citee.
22 But, I, had said in mine alarm, I am cut off from before thine eyes, —But, indeed, thou didst hear the voice of my supplication, when I cried for help unto thee.
Forsothe Y seide in the passyng of my soule; Y am cast out fro the face of thin iyen. Therfor thou herdist the vois of my preier; while Y criede to thee.
23 Love Yahweh, all ye his men of lovingkindness, —Faithfulness, doth Yahweh observe, but repayeth abundantly him that worketh proudly.
Alle ye hooli men of the Lord, loue hym; for the Lord schal seke treuthe, and he schal yelde plenteuousli to hem that doen pride.
24 Be strong, and let your heart be bold, all ye who are waiting for Yahweh.
Alle ye that hopen in the Lord, do manli; and youre herte be coumfortid.
