< Psalms 28 >
1 David’s. Unto thee, O Yahweh, do I cry, O my Rock! do not turn in silence from me, —lest, if thou turn from me in silence, I be like them who go down into the pit.
A Psalm of David himself. To you, Lord, I will cry out. My God, do not be silent toward me. For if you remain silent toward me, I will become like those who descend into the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplication, when I cry to thee for help, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy shrine.
Hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication, when I pray to you, when I lift up my hands toward your holy temple.
3 Do not drag me away—with the lawless, or with the workers of iniquity, —who speak peaceably with their neighbours, but, wrong, is in their heart.
Do not draw me away together with sinners; and let me not perish with those who work iniquity, who speak peacefully to their neighbor, yet evils are in their hearts.
4 Give them, according to their deed, and, according to the wrong of their practices, —According to the work of their own hands, give thou unto them, Bring back their own dealing to themselves.
Give to them according to their works and according to the wickedness of their inventions. Assign to them according to the works of their hands. Repay them with their own retribution.
5 Because they heed not The Deeds of Yahweh, or the Work of his hands, he will pull them down, and not build them.
Since they have not understood the works of the Lord and the works of his hands, you will destroy them, and you will not build them up.
6 Blessed be Yahweh, Because he hath heard the voice of my supplication.
Blessed is the Lord, for he has heard the voice of my supplication.
7 Yahweh, is my strength and my shield, In him, hath trusted my heart, and I have found help, —Therefore hath my heart danced for joy, and, with my song, do I praise him.
The Lord is my helper and my protector. In him, my heart has hoped and I have been helped. And my flesh has flourished again. And from my will, I shall confess to him.
8 Yahweh, is strength to his people, —And, the all-saving refuge of his Anointed One, is he!
The Lord is the strength of his people and the protector of the salvation of his Christ.
9 Oh save thy people, and bless thine inheritance, Tend them also, and carry them, Unto times age-abiding.
O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance, and reign over them and exalt them, even unto eternity.
