Psalms 136
1 Give ye thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
Thank Yahweh, because he does good things [for us]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
2 Give ye thanks to the God of gods, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
Thank God, the one who is greater than all other gods; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
3 Give ye thanks to the Lord of lords, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
Thank the Lord who is greater than all other lords/rulers; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
4 To him that doeth great wonders, by himself alone, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the only one who performs great miracles; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
5 To him that made the heavens with understanding, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who by being very wise created the heavens; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who caused the ground to rise up above the deep waters; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
7 To him that made great lights, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who created great lights [in the sky]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
8 The sun to rule the day, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He created the sun to shine in the daytime; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
9 The moon and stars to rule the night, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He created the moon and stars to shine during the nighttime; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
10 To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who killed the firstborn [males] in Egypt; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
11 And brought forth Israel out of their midst, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He led the Israeli people out of Egypt; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
12 With a firm hand, and a stretched-out arm, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
With his (strong hand/great power) he led them out; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
13 To him that divided the Red Sea into division, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who caused the Red Sea to divide; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
14 And caused Israel to pass through the midst thereof, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He enabled the Israeli people to walk through it [on dry land]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
15 And shook off Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
But he caused the king of Egypt and his army to drown in it; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
16 To him that led his people through the desert, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who led his people [safely through the desert]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
17 To him that smote great kings, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He killed powerful kings; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
18 And slew majestic kings, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He killed kings who were famous; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
19 Even Sihon, king of the Amorites, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He killed Sihon, the king of the Amor people-group; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
20 Also Og, king of Bashan, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He killed Og, the king of Bashan [region]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
21 And gave their land for an inheritance, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He gave their lands to us, his people; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
22 An inheritance to Israel his servant, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He gave those lands to us people of Israel, who serve him; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
23 Who in our low estate, remembered us, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who did not forget about us when we were defeated [by our enemies]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
24 And freed us with force from our adversaries, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He rescued us from our enemies; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
25 Who giveth food to all flesh, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
He is the one who gives food to all living creatures; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
26 Give ye thanks unto the GOD of the heavens, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
[So] thank God, [who lives in] heaven, [for all those things], because his faithful love [for us] endures forever!
