< Psalms 124 >

1 A Song of Ascents. David’s. If it had not been, Yahweh, who was on our side, oh might Israel say:
If it had not been that the Lord was with us, let Israel now say:
2 If it had not been, Yahweh, who was on our side, when men rose up against us,
If it had not been that the Lord was with us, When men rose up against us,
3 Then, alive, had they swallowed us up, in the glow of their anger against us;
Perhaps they had swallowed us up alive. When their fury was enkindled against us,
4 Then, the waters, had whelmed us, the torrent, gone over our soul;
Perhaps the waters had swallowed us up.
5 Then, had gone over our soul the waters so proud!
Our soul hath passed through a torrent: perhaps our soul had passed through a water insupportable.
6 Blessed, be Yahweh, who gave us not as prey to their teeth.
Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us to be a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul, as a bird, hath escaped from the snare of the fowlers, The snare, is broken, and, we, are escaped:
Our soul hath been delivered as a sparrow out of the snare of the followers. The snare is broken, and we are delivered.
8 Our help, is in the Name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
