Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my sayings, and, my commandments, treasure by thee;
Mon fils, garde mes paroles, et mets en réserve par-devers toi mes commandements.
2 Keep my commandments and live, and mine instruction, as the pupil of thine eye;
Garde mes commandements, et tu vivras, et garde mon enseignement comme la prunelle de tes yeux.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them, on the tablet of thy heart;
Lie-les à tes doigts, écris-les sur la table de ton cœur.
4 Say unto wisdom, My sister, thou! and, an acquaintance, call thou, understanding:
Dis à la sagesse: Tu es ma sœur; et appelle la prudence, ta parente.
5 That thou mayest be kept, from the woman that is a stranger, from the female unknown, who, with her speeches, doth flatter.
Afin qu'elles te gardent de la femme étrangère, et de la foraine, qui se sert de paroles flatteuses.
6 For, in the window of my house, through my lattice, I looked out;
Comme je regardais à la fenêtre de ma maison par mes treillis,
7 And saw among the simple ones, discerned among the youths, A young man lacking sense;
Je vis entre les sots, et je considérai entre les jeunes gens un jeune homme dépourvu de sens,
8 Passing through the street, near her corner, and, on the way to her house, he sauntered along;
Qui passait par une rue, près du coin d'une certaine femme, et qui tenait le chemin de sa maison;
9 In the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the midst of the night, and the gloom;
Sur le soir à la fin du jour, lorsque la nuit devenait noire et obscure.
10 And lo! a woman, came to meet him, attired as one unchaste, of a wily heart.
Et voici, une femme vint au-devant de lui, parée en femme de mauvaise vie, et pleine de ruse;
11 Boisterous, is she, and rebellious, In her house, abide not her feet;
Bruyante et débauchée, et dont les pieds ne demeurent point dans sa maison;
12 Now outside, now in the broadways, and, near every corner, she lieth in wait:
Etant tantôt dehors, et tantôt dans les rues, et se tenant aux aguets à chaque coin de rue.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and, embolding her face, she said to him:
Elle le prit, et le baisa; et avec un visage effronté, lui dit:
14 Peace-offerings, are by me, to-day, have I paid my vows;
J'ai chez moi des sacrifices de prospérité; j'ai aujourd'hui payé mes vœux.
15 For this cause, came I forth to meet thee, to seek diligently thy face, and I have found thee:
C'est pourquoi je suis sortie au-devant de toi, pour te chercher soigneusement, et je t'ai trouvé.
16 Coverlets, have I spread on my couch of pleasure, dark-hued stuffs, of the yarn of Egypt;
J'ai garni mon lit d'un tour de réseau, entrecoupé de fil d'Egypte.
17 I have sprinkled my bed, with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon:
Je l'ai parfumé de myrrhe, d'aloès et de cinnamome.
18 Come! let us take our fill of endearments, until morning, let us delight ourselves with caresses;
Viens, enivrons-nous de plaisir jusqu'au matin, réjouissons-nous en amours.
19 For the husband is not in his house, he hath gone on a journey afar;
Car mon mari n'est point en sa maison; il s'en est allé en voyage bien loin.
20 A bag of silver, hath he taken in his hand, On the day of the full moon, will he enter his house.
Il a pris avec soi un sac d'argent; il retournera en sa maison au jour assigné.
21 She turneth him aside, with her great persuasiveness, —with the flattery of her lips, she compelleth him:
Elle l'a fait détourner par beaucoup de douces paroles, et l'a attiré par la flatterie de ses lèvres.
22 Going after her instantly, as an ox, to the slaughter, he entereth, and, as in fetters, unto the correction of a fool.
Il s'en est aussitôt allé après elle, comme le bœuf s'en va à la boucherie, et comme le fou, aux ceps pour être châtié;
23 Until an arrow cleaveth his liver, as a bird hasteth into a snare, and knoweth not, that, for his life, it is!
Jusqu'à ce que la flèche lui ait transpercé le foie; comme l'oiseau qui se hâte vers le filet, ne sachant point qu'on l'a tendu contre sa vie.
24 Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken unto me, and attend, to the sayings of my mouth;
Maintenant donc, enfants, écoutez-moi, et soyez attentifs à mes discours.
25 Let not thy heart, turn aside to her ways, Do not go astray, in her paths.
Que ton cœur ne se détourne point vers les voies de cette femme, et qu'elle ne te fasse point égarer dans ses sentiers.
26 For, many, wounded, hath she caused to fall, —yea strong men, slain wholly by her:
Car elle a fait tomber plusieurs blessés à mort, et tous ceux qu'elle a tués étaient forts.
