Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my sayings, and, my commandments, treasure by thee;
Mon fils, garde mes paroles et cache par-devers toi mes commandements.
2 Keep my commandments and live, and mine instruction, as the pupil of thine eye;
Garde mes commandements, et tu vivras, – et mon enseignement, comme la prunelle de tes yeux.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them, on the tablet of thy heart;
Lie-les sur tes doigts, écris-les sur la tablette de ton cœur.
4 Say unto wisdom, My sister, thou! and, an acquaintance, call thou, understanding:
Dis à la sagesse: Tu es ma sœur! et appelle l’intelligence ton amie;
5 That thou mayest be kept, from the woman that is a stranger, from the female unknown, who, with her speeches, doth flatter.
pour te garder de la femme étrangère, de la foraine qui use de paroles flatteuses.
6 For, in the window of my house, through my lattice, I looked out;
Car, à la fenêtre de ma maison, je regardais à travers mon treillis,
7 And saw among the simple ones, discerned among the youths, A young man lacking sense;
et je vis parmi les simples, j’aperçus parmi les jeunes gens, un jeune homme dépourvu de sens,
8 Passing through the street, near her corner, and, on the way to her house, he sauntered along;
qui passait dans la rue, près du coin où demeurait cette femme, et il prit le chemin de sa maison,
9 In the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the midst of the night, and the gloom;
au crépuscule, au soir du jour, au sein de la nuit et de l’obscurité.
10 And lo! a woman, came to meet him, attired as one unchaste, of a wily heart.
Et voici, une femme [vint] à sa rencontre, ayant la mise d’une prostituée et le cœur rusé.
11 Boisterous, is she, and rebellious, In her house, abide not her feet;
Elle était bruyante et sans frein; ses pieds ne demeuraient pas dans sa maison,
12 Now outside, now in the broadways, and, near every corner, she lieth in wait:
elle était tantôt dehors, tantôt sur les places, et guettait à tous les coins.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and, embolding her face, she said to him:
Et elle le saisit, et l’embrassa, et d’un visage effronté lui dit:
14 Peace-offerings, are by me, to-day, have I paid my vows;
J’ai chez moi des sacrifices de prospérités, j’ai aujourd’hui payé mes vœux;
15 For this cause, came I forth to meet thee, to seek diligently thy face, and I have found thee:
c’est pourquoi je suis sortie à ta rencontre pour chercher ton visage, et je t’ai trouvé.
16 Coverlets, have I spread on my couch of pleasure, dark-hued stuffs, of the yarn of Egypt;
J’ai étendu sur mon lit des tapis, des couvertures de fil d’Égypte de couleurs variées;
17 I have sprinkled my bed, with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon:
j’ai parfumé ma couche de myrrhe, d’aloès, et de cinnamome.
18 Come! let us take our fill of endearments, until morning, let us delight ourselves with caresses;
Viens, enivrons-nous d’amours jusqu’au matin, délectons-nous de volupté;
19 For the husband is not in his house, he hath gone on a journey afar;
car [mon] mari n’est pas à la maison, il s’en est allé loin en voyage;
20 A bag of silver, hath he taken in his hand, On the day of the full moon, will he enter his house.
il a pris un sac d’argent en sa main, il viendra à sa maison au jour de la pleine lune.
21 She turneth him aside, with her great persuasiveness, —with the flattery of her lips, she compelleth him:
Elle le détourna par beaucoup de douces paroles, elle l’entraîna par la flatterie de ses lèvres.
22 Going after her instantly, as an ox, to the slaughter, he entereth, and, as in fetters, unto the correction of a fool.
Il est allé aussitôt après elle, comme le bœuf va à la boucherie, et comme les ceps [servent à] l’instruction du fou,
23 Until an arrow cleaveth his liver, as a bird hasteth into a snare, and knoweth not, that, for his life, it is!
jusqu’à ce que la flèche lui transperce le foie; comme l’oiseau se hâte vers le piège et ne sait pas qu’il y va de sa vie.
24 Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken unto me, and attend, to the sayings of my mouth;
Maintenant donc, fils, écoutez-moi, et soyez attentifs aux paroles de ma bouche.
25 Let not thy heart, turn aside to her ways, Do not go astray, in her paths.
Que ton cœur ne se détourne pas vers ses voies, et ne t’égare pas dans ses sentiers;
26 For, many, wounded, hath she caused to fall, —yea strong men, slain wholly by her:
car elle a fait tomber beaucoup de blessés, et ceux qu’elle a tués sont très nombreux.
