Proverbs 5
1 My son, to my wisdom, attend, and, to mine understanding, incline thou thine ear:
Hijo mío, presta atención a mi sabiduría. Escucha con cuidado mientras te explico el buen consejo,
2 That thou mayest preserve discretion, —and, as for knowledge, that thy lips may guard it.
para que puedas tomar buenas decisiones, y protejas el conocimiento con tus labios.
3 For, with sweet droppings, drip the lips of her that is a stranger, and, smoother than oil, is her mouth;
Porque los labios de una mujer inmoral pueden ser dulces como la miel; los besos de sus labios pueden ser suaves como el aceite,
4 But, the latter end of her, is bitter as wormwood, sharp, as a two-edged sword!
pero al final lo que obtendrás de ella es la amargura de ajenjo y el dolor cortante de una espada de doble filo.
Ella te conducirá a la muerte, y te llevará hasta la tumba. (Sheol h7585)
6 Lest, the path of life, she should ponder, her tracks have wandered she knoweth not [whither].
Ella no sigue el camino que conduce a la vida, sino que deambula sin saber que está perdida.
7 Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken unto me, and do not turn away from the sayings of my mouth.
Ahora, hijo mío, escúchame. No rechaces lo que te he enseñado.
8 Keep far from her thy way, and do not go near the opening of her house:
¡Aléjate de ella! ¡No te acerques a su casa!
9 Lest thou give, to other men, thy vigour, and thy years, to him that is cruel:
De lo contrario, estarás entregando tu honra a otros, y tu reputación quedará en manos de gente cruel.
10 Lest strange men, be well fed, by thy strength, and, thy toils, be in the house of the alien.
Los extranjeros gastarán tu riqueza, y todo aquello por lo que has trabajado quedará en manos de otro.
11 So shalt thou grieve in thy latter end, in the failing of thy flesh and of thy healthy condition;
Cuando llegues al fin de tus días, gemirás de dolor mientras la enfermedad destruye tu cuerpo.
12 And thou shalt say—How I hated correction! and, reproof, my heart disdained;
Y dirás: “Oh, cómo aborrecía la disciplina, y mi mente aborrecía la corrección!
13 Neither hearkened I to the voice of my teachers, nor, to my instructors, inclined I mine ear:
No escuché lo que mi maestro decía, ni presté atención a mis instructores.
14 Soon was I in all evil, in the midst of convocation and assembly.
Ahora estoy a punto de caer en total desgracia ante todos en la comunidad”.
15 Drink thou water out of thine own cistern, and flowing streams out of the midst of thine own well.
Bebe agua de tu propia cisterna, agua viva de tu propio pozo.
16 Let not thy fountains, flow over, abroad, in the streets, dividings of waters:
¿Por qué dejar que tus fuentes se esparzan por fuera, y tus fuentes de agua sean derramadas por las calles?
17 Let them be for thyself, alone, and not for strangers with thee.
Guárdalas solo para ti, pues no son para compartirlas con extraños.
18 Let thy well-spring be blessed, —and get thy joy from the wife of thy youth: —
Que tus fuentes de aguas sean benditas, y que disfrutes de la mujer con quien te casaste en tu juventud.
19 A loving hind! a graceful doe! let, her bosom, content thee at all times, and, in her love, mayst thou stray evermore.
Que ella sea para ti como una cierva amorosa, como una gacela llena de gracia. Que te intoxiques en sus pechos cada día, y te embriagues en su amor para siempre.
20 Wherefore, then, shouldst thou stray, my son, with a strange woman? or embrace the bosom of a woman unknown?
¿Por qué dejarte intoxicar por una mujer inmoral? ¿Por qué aferrarte a los brazos de la mujer que actúa como prostituta?
21 For, before the eyes of Yahweh, are the ways of a man, —and, all his tracks, doth he consider:
Porque el Señor ve todo lo que las personas hacen, e investiga cada lugar donde van.
22 His own iniquities, shall entrap him with the lawless, and, by the cords of his own sin, shall he be seized.
Los malvados quedarán atrapados por causa de sus malas acciones. Las cuerdas de sus pecados los atarán.
23 He, shall die, for lack of discipline, and, by the abounding of his perversity, shall he be lost.
Morirán por su falta de dominio propio, y estarán perdidos por su gran insensatez.
