Proverbs 4

1 Hear, ye sons, the correction of a father, and attend, that ye may know understanding.

എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, പിതാവിന്റെ നിർദേശങ്ങൾ ശ്രവിക്കുക; അതിൽ ശ്രദ്ധനൽകി വിവേചനശക്തി കൈവരിക്കുക.

2 For, good teaching, have I given you, mine instruction, do not ye forsake.

കാരണം ഞാൻ നിനക്കു സദുപദേശം നൽകുന്നു, എന്റെ അഭ്യസനം നിരാകരിക്കരുത്.

3 For, a son, became I to my father, tender and most precious in the sight of my mother.

ഞാനും എന്റെ പിതാവിനു മകനും മാതാവിന്റെ ഏക ഓമനസന്താനവും ആയിരുന്നു.

4 So he taught me, and said to me—Let thy heart, lay hold of my words, Keep my commandments and live!

എന്റെ പിതാവ് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ച് എന്നോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ നീ ഹൃദയപൂർവം സ്വീകരിക്കുക; എന്റെ കൽപ്പനകൾ പാലിച്ചാൽ നീ ജീവിക്കും.

5 Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding, Do not forget, neither decline thou from the sayings of my mouth.

ജ്ഞാനം നേടുക, വിവേകം ആർജിക്കുക; എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ വിസ്മരിക്കുകയോ അവയിൽനിന്നു വ്യതിചലിക്കുകയോ അരുത്.

6 Do not forsake her, and she will guard thee, —love her and she will keep thee.

ജ്ഞാനത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുത്, അവൾ നിന്നെ സംരക്ഷിക്കും; അവളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുക, അവൾ നിനക്കു കാവൽനിൽക്കും.

7 The principal thing, is wisdom, acquire thou wisdom, With all thine acquisition, acquire thou understanding.

ജ്ഞാനം പരമപ്രധാനമാണ്; ആകയാൽ നീ ജ്ഞാനം കൈവരിക്കുക. നിനക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം ചെലവഴിച്ചിട്ടായാലും അറിവ് സമ്പാദിക്കുക.

8 Exalt her, and she will set thee on high, she will bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her:

അവളെ താലോലിക്കുക, അവൾ നിന്നെ ഉയർത്തും; അവളെ ആലിംഗനംചെയ്യുക, അവൾ നിന്നെ ആദരിക്കും.

9 She will give for thy head, a wreath of beauty, A crown of adorning, will she bestow upon thee.

അവൾ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന് അഴകേകുന്ന ഒരു ലതാമകുടം അണിയിക്കുകയും ശോഭയുള്ള കിരീടം നിനക്ക് ഉപഹാരമായി നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യും.”

10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and they will multiply to thee the years of life.

എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ച് അവ അംഗീകരിക്കുക, എന്നാൽ നീ ദീർഘായുസ്സുള്ള വ്യക്തിയായിരിക്കും.

11 In the way of wisdom, have I taught thee, I have guided thee in tracks of uprightness.

ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ജ്ഞാനമാർഗത്തിലേക്കു നയിക്കുന്നു നേരായ പാതകളിൽ നിന്നെ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

12 When thou walkest, thy step shall not be hemmed in, and, if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

നീ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ കാലടികൾക്കു തടസ്സം നേരിടുകയില്ല; ഓടുമ്പോൾ, നീ ഇടറിവീഴുകയുമില്ല.

13 Take fast hold of correction, let her not go, —keep her, for, she, is thy life.

ശിക്ഷണം മുറുകെപ്പിടിക്കുക, അതിനെ കൈവെടിയരുത്; അതിനെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുക, കാരണം അതാകുന്നു നിന്റെ ജീവൻ.

14 Upon the path of the lawless, do not thou enter, and do not advance in the way of the wicked:

ദുഷ്ടരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നീ പ്രവേശിക്കരുത് ദുർമാർഗികളുടെ പാതയിൽ നീ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയുമരുത്.

15 Avoid it, do not pass thereon—turn from it, and depart.

അത് ഒഴിവാക്കുക, ആ വഴിയിൽക്കൂടി സഞ്ചരിക്കരുത്; അത് വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞ് നിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കു കുതിക്കുക.

16 For they sleep not, unless they can do mischief, —They rob themselves of their sleep, if they cannot cause someone to stumble,

കാരണം അകൃത്യംചെയ്യുന്നതുവരെ അവർക്ക് ഉറക്കംവരികയില്ല; ആരെയെങ്കിലും വീഴ്ത്തിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവരെ സുഖനിദ്ര കൈവിടുന്നു,

17 For they consume bread gotten by lawlessness, and, wine obtained by violence, they drink.

അവർ ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു അതിക്രമത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു പാനംചെയ്യുന്നു.

18 But, the path of the righteous, is as the light of dawn, —going on and brightening, unto meridian day.

നീതിനിഷ്ഠരുടെ പാത അരുണോദയത്തിലെ പ്രഭപോലെയാകുന്നു, അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികമായി പ്രശോഭിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

19 The way of the lawless, is like darkness, they know not, at what they stumble.

എന്നാൽ ദുഷ്ടരുടെ പാതകൾ ഘോരാന്ധകാരംപോലെയാണ്; ഏതിൽ തട്ടിവീഴുമെന്ന് അവർ അറിയുന്നില്ല.

20 My son, to my words, attend, to my sayings, incline thou thine ear;

എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞേ, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ സശ്രദ്ധം ശ്രവിക്കുക; എന്റെ മൊഴികൾക്കു ചെവിചായ്‌ക്കുക.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart;

അവ നിന്റെ കൺമുമ്പിൽനിന്നും മറയാൻ അനുവദിക്കരുത്, അവ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽത്തന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക;

22 For, life, they are, to them who find them, —and, to every part of one’s flesh, they bring healing.

കാരണം, കണ്ടെത്തുന്നവർക്ക് അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ ശരീരംമുഴുവൻ ആരോഗ്യവും നൽകുന്നു.

23 Above all that must be guarded, keep thou thy heart, for, out of it, are the issues of life.

എല്ലാറ്റിനുമുപരി നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുക, കാരണം അതിൽനിന്നാണ് ജീവന്റെ ഉറവ ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്നത്.

24 Remove from thee, perverseness of mouth, and, craftiness of lips, put far from thee.

വഞ്ചന നിന്റെ വായിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിവാക്കുക; ദുർഭാഷണത്തിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളെ അകറ്റിനിർത്തുക.

25 Let, thine eyes, right onward, look, —and, thine eyelashes, point straight before thee.

നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടികൾ ഋജുവായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾ മുൻപോട്ടുതന്നെ പതിപ്പിക്കുക.

26 Make level the track of thy foot, that, all thy ways, may be directed aright:

നിന്റെ പാദങ്ങൾക്കു പാത നിരപ്പാക്കുക അപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സുസ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.

27 Decline not, to the right hand or to the left, —Turn away thy foot from wickedness.

നീ വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വ്യതിചലിക്കരുത്; നിന്റെ കാലുകൾ തിന്മയിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കട്ടെ.
