< Proverbs 4 >

1 Hear, ye sons, the correction of a father, and attend, that ye may know understanding.

2 For, good teaching, have I given you, mine instruction, do not ye forsake.

3 For, a son, became I to my father, tender and most precious in the sight of my mother.
Keima kapa dinga chapa khatseh kahin, kanu mitvet jenga jong ngailut umtah chapa changkhat kahi.
4 So he taught me, and said to me—Let thy heart, lay hold of my words, Keep my commandments and live!
Kapan hitin eina hil in, “Kathusei ho nalung in chensah jing in, ka thupeh jouse jong tuhdet jing in, hinna'a nanei ding ahi.
5 Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding, Do not forget, neither decline thou from the sayings of my mouth.
Kakam sunga kon potdoh thuchang ho sumil hih in, dalha hih hel in, chule chihna kisan in giltah in hetna neijin.
6 Do not forsake her, and she will guard thee, —love her and she will keep thee.
Chihna hi nungsun hih beh in, chihna hi ngaisang in, chutileh chihna hin nangma na umpi jing ding ahi.
7 The principal thing, is wisdom, acquire thou wisdom, With all thine acquisition, acquire thou understanding.
Hitobanga hi chihna bulpi hung kipan ahi. Chihna mutei ding gon, namu chan chu giltah'a hetdoh ding ngaiton.
8 Exalt her, and she will set thee on high, she will bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her:
Chihna hi mutheijin domsang in, chuteng chihna chu nangma domsanga pang ding ahi. Chihna hi natuh chah jing poule, chihna chun jabolna namusah ding ahi.
9 She will give for thy head, a wreath of beauty, A crown of adorning, will she bestow upon thee.
Chihna hi nalu-changa delkop phatah'a pang ding, Lal-lukhuh hoitah khuh tobang nahi ding ahi.”
10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and they will multiply to thee the years of life.
Kachapa kasei ngaijin lang, kathua nung in, chutileh na hinkho kijop sau thei ding ahi.
11 In the way of wisdom, have I taught thee, I have guided thee in tracks of uprightness.
Keiman chihna lampi kahilsoh tan, chule chondihna lampi chengsea jong kapui tan ahi.
12 When thou walkest, thy step shall not be hemmed in, and, if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
Nakal son-le teng jongleh nakipal lou ding, nalhai-le teng jongleh nakipal lhuh lou ding ahitai.
13 Take fast hold of correction, let her not go, —keep her, for, she, is thy life.
Ka thuhilna kisan in tuhchah jing in, hichu chingtup in, nang dinga hinna ahi.
14 Upon the path of the lawless, do not thou enter, and do not advance in the way of the wicked:
Milungthim phalou lam lhahna'a che dan, mipapse te lam lhahna'a jong vah-le hih in.
15 Avoid it, do not pass thereon—turn from it, and depart.
Hitobang lampia kon chun kihei mang in, vah-lut louvin jotpai jeng in.
16 For they sleep not, unless they can do mischief, —They rob themselves of their sleep, if they cannot cause someone to stumble,
Ajeh chu thilse bol masa louvin ajan choldo jipouvin, mikhat tou akipalsah kahseu-vin, mu jong a-imu theiji pouvin ahi.
17 For they consume bread gotten by lawlessness, and, wine obtained by violence, they drink.
Amahon phatlouna ga-a bou akivah un, pumtho chang'a anatoh uchu judon banga adon jiu ahi.
18 But, the path of the righteous, is as the light of dawn, —going on and brightening, unto meridian day.
Mi chonpha ho lam lhahna vang chu jing ninou bang in asoh jin, sunlai nisa asat bang in, avah cheh cheh jin ahi.
19 The way of the lawless, is like darkness, they know not, at what they stumble.
Amavang miphalou ho lam lhah chu muthim lah bang bep ahin, hoilaija kipal diu ham jong ahephaji pouvin ahi.
20 My son, to my words, attend, to my sayings, incline thou thine ear;
Kachapa, kathuhil ho ngaiphan, kasei jouse lunglut tah'in ngaijin
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart;
Hichengse hi namit mun mansah hih hel in, nalungthim sunga chensah jing tan.
22 For, life, they are, to them who find them, —and, to every part of one’s flesh, they bring healing.
Ajeh chu hiche kimu chan chun hinna'a anei ding, atahsa jeng jong adamsah ding ahi.
23 Above all that must be guarded, keep thou thy heart, for, out of it, are the issues of life.
Khodah in limgeh chan um in, ajeh chu hinna gui hung konna asohjin ahi.
24 Remove from thee, perverseness of mouth, and, craftiness of lips, put far from thee.
Thudihlou nasei pai lhan, thuchavei kihoulimna nanei jong dalha tan.
25 Let, thine eyes, right onward, look, —and, thine eyelashes, point straight before thee.
Na mitte-nin ching geh in mive phan, namai changa nathilmu jeng jong adih hiding ahi.
26 Make level the track of thy foot, that, all thy ways, may be directed aright:
Nakeng phang tenia nachotna ding vephan, ajeh chu nalam lhahna jouse kicheh ding ahi.
27 Decline not, to the right hand or to the left, —Turn away thy foot from wickedness.
Jetle vei-a jong kiheile dan, thil dihlou lampia kon chun nakeng phang sepdoh in, kihei mang jeng tan.
