Proverbs 27
1 Do not boast thyself of to-morrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
੧ਭਲਕ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਸ਼ੇਖੀ ਨਾ ਮਾਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਭਈ ਇੱਕੋ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।
2 Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth, a stranger, and not thine own lips.
੨ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਰੇ ਪਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ, ਹਾਂ ਓਪਰਾ ਕਰੇ, ਨਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੁੱਲ।
3 Heavy is a stone, and weighty is sand, —but, the vexation of a fool, is heavier than both.
੩ਪੱਥਰ ਭਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਰੇਤ ਬੋਝਲ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਦਾ ਕੁੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
4 The cruelty of rage, and the overflow of anger! But who can stand before, jealousy?
੪ਗੁੱਸਾ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਇੱਕ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਈਰਖਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੌਣ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
5 Better is a rebuke that is open, than love carefully concealed.
੫ਗੁੱਝੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਖੁੱਲੀ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ।
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but lavished are the kisses of an enemy.
੬ਮਿੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇ ਚੁੰਮੇ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
7 The surfeited soul, trampleth upon droppings from the comb, but, to the hungry soul, every bitter thing, is sweet.
੭ਰੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਦਾ ਛੱਤਾ ਵੀ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਕੌੜੀ ਵਸਤ ਵੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
8 As a bird wandering from her nest, so, is a man wandering from his place.
੮ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਟਿਕਾਣਿਓਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਪੰਛੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਹਲਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਵੇ।
9 Oil and perfume, rejoice the heart, the sweetness of one’s friend, more than fragrant wood.
੯ਅਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਮਨੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਿਠਾਸ ਹੈ।
10 Thine own friend and thy father’s friend, do not thou forsake; but, the house of thy brother, do not enter, in thy day of calamity, Better a neighbour near, than a brother far off.
੧੦ਆਪਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੱਡ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨਾ ਜਾ, ਦੂਰ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਦਾ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
11 Be wise, my son, and rejoice my heart, that I may answer him that reproacheth me in a matter.
੧੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰੀਂ, ਭਈ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਸਕਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਹਣਾ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
12 A prudent man, seeth calamity—he hideth himself, the simple, pass on—they suffer.
੧੨ਸਿਆਣਾ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਲੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਭੋਲੇ ਅਗਾਹਾਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
13 Take a man’s garment when he hath become pledge for a stranger, then, for a female unknown, accept him as surety.
੧੩ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਲਾਹ ਲੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਓਪਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ।
14 He that blesseth his friend, with a loud voice, in the morning early, a reproach, shall it be reckoned to him.
੧੪ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਸਰਾਪ ਹੀ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
15 A continuous dripping on a day of downpour, and a contentious wife, are alike:
੧੫ਝੜੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦਾ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਚੋਆ, ਅਤੇ ਝਗੜਾਲੂ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਇੱਕੋ ਸਮਾਨ ਹਨ!
16 He that hideth her, hideth the wind, and, perfume, his right hand may proclaim.
੧੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪੌਣ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਥਵਾ ਉਹ ਸੱਜੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਲ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਦਾ ਹੈ!
17 Let, iron, by iron, become sharp, and let, a man, sharpen the face of his friend.
੧੭ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੋਹਾ ਲੋਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਚਮਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਚਮਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
18 He that guardeth the fig-tree, shall eat the fruit thereof, and, he that watcheth over his master, shall be honoured.
੧੮ਜਿਹੜਾ ਹੰਜ਼ੀਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਰਾਖ਼ੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਲ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
19 As in water, face [answereth] to face, so, the heart of man to man.
੧੯ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂੰਹ ਦਾ ਪਰਛਾਵਾਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
20 Hades and destruction, are not satisfied, and, the eyes of a man, are not satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
੨੦ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਤਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਜ਼ਖ ਕਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਓਵੇਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਵੀ ਕਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ। (Sheol h7585)
21 Fining pot for silver, and crucible for gold, and, a man, [is to be tried] by what he praiseth.
੨੧ਜਿਵੇਂ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੁਠਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਭੱਠੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਓਵੇਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਜਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
22 Though thou pound a fool in a mortar, amidst grain, with a pestle, his folly, will not depart from him.
੨੨ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਓਖਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਣਿਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਮੋਹਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁੱਟੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੱਟਣੀ।
23 Note well, the appearance of thy flock, apply thy mind to thy herds;
੨੩ਆਪਣੇ ਇੱਜੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣ ਲੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੱਧ ਰੱਖ,
24 For, not age-abiding, are riches, nor is the diadem, from generation to generation: —
੨੪ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਧਨ ਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਠਹਿਰਦਾ, ਭਲਾ, ਮੁਕਟ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਓਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
25 The grass, is taken away, and the young shoot, showeth itself, and the herbage of the mountains, is gathered;
੨੫ਜਦ ਘਾਹ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਨਵਾਂ ਘਾਹ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਗ ਪੱਤ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
26 There are, lambs, for thy clothing, and, for the price of thy field, there are he-goats;
੨੬ਲੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਸਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਤੇ ਬੱਕਰੇ ਖੇਤ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਲਈ,
27 With, enough goats-milk, for thy food—for the food of thy household, and, a maintenance, for thy maidens.
੨੭ਅਤੇ ਬੱਕਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਧ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਦੀ ਖਾਧ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਲਈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
