< Proverbs 26 >

1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so, unbecoming to a dullard is honour.
Toy ny oram-panala amin’ ny lohataona, Ary toy ny ranonorana amin’ ny taom-pijinjana, Dia toy izany ny voninahitra tsy tandrifiny ho an’ ny adala.
2 As a sparrow in wandering, as a swallow in flying, so, a causeless curse, shall not alight.
Toy ny vorona mivezivezy sy ny sidintsidina manidina, Dia toy izany ny fanozonam-poana: tsy mba hihatra izany.
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of dullards.
Ny karavasy ho amin’ ny soavaly ny lamboridy ho amin’ ny boriky, Ary ny tsorakazo kosa ho amin’ ny lamosin’ ny adala.
4 Do not answer a dullard, according to his folly, lest, even thou thyself, become like him;
Aza mamaly ny adala araka ny hadalany, Fandrao mba adala tahaka azy koa ianao.
5 Answer a dullard according to his folly, lest he become wise in his own eyes.
Valio ny adala araka ny hadalany, Fandrao dia manao azy ho hendry izy
6 One who cutteth off feet, one who drinketh down wrong, is he who sendeth a message by the hand of a dullard.
Manapaka ny tongony sady misotro loza Izay mampitondra teny ny adala.
7 Useless are the legs of the lame, and a proverb, in the mouth of a dullard.
Mikepikepika ny tongotry ny malemy tongotra, Dia toy izany ny ohabolana eo am-bavan’ ny adala.
8 Like tying a stone to a sling, so, is he that giveth honour, to a dullard.
Toy ny manisy vato eo amin’ ny antsamotady, Dia toy izany ny manome voninahitra ny adala.
9 A brier cometh into the hand of a drunken-man, a proverb into the mouth of dullards.
Toy ny tsilo eny an-tànan’ ny olona mamo, Dia toy izany ny ohabolana eo am-bavan’ ny adala.
10 [As] an archer who woundeth every thing, [so] one who hireth a dullard, and a drunkard crossing the sea.
Ny mpiasa mahay dia mahavita ny zavatra isan-karazany; Fa izay manakarama ny adala dia toy ny manakarama izay sendra mandalo.
11 As, a dog, returneth onto his own vomit, a dullard, repeateth his folly.
Toy ny amboa miverina amin’ ny loany, Dia toy izany ny adala miverina amin’ ny hadalany.
12 Thou hast seen a man wise in his own eye, —more hope of a dullard, than of him!
Hitanao va ny olona manao azy ho hendry? Ny adala misy hantenaina kokoa noho izy.
13 Saith the sluggard, A roaring lion in the road! A tearing lion in the midst of the broadways.
Hoy ny malaina: Misy liona any an-dalana, Misy liona atsy an-dalambe.
14 The door, turneth on its hinges, and, the sluggard, upon his bed.
Toy ny varavarana mihodìna amin’ ny saviliny, Dia toy izany ny kamo eo amin’ ny fandriany,
15 The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
Ny malaina mangarona ny eo an-doviany, Nefa ny hampakatra azy ho amin’ ny vavany dia mahasasatra azy.
16 Wiser is the sluggard in his own eyes, than, seven persons, who can answer with judgment.
Ny kamo manao ny tenany ho hendry mihoatra noho ny olona fito izay mahavaly tsara.
17 As he who layeth hold of the ears of a dog, is a passer-by, who giveth vent to his wrath over a quarrel, not his!
Izay mandalo ka mitsaraingona amin’ ny ady tsy azy Dia mandroritra amboa amin’ ny sofiny.
18 As a madman throwing firebrands, arrows and death,
Toy ny adala izay manely afo sy zana-tsipìka ary fahafatesana,
19 So, is a man who deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Was not, I, in sport?
Dia toy izany ny olona mamitaka ny namany ka manao hoe: Tsy vosobosotra ihany va no ataoko?
20 Without wood a fire is quenched, and, where there is no tattler, strife is hushed.
Raha tsy misy kitay intsony, dia maty ny afo; Ary raha tsy misy mpifosafosa intsony, dia mitsahatra ny fifandirana.
21 Black coal to burning blocks, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man, for kindling strife.
Toy ny arina atao amin’ ny vainafo sy ny kitay hazo atao amin’ ny afo, Dia toy izany, ny olona tia ady mandrehitra fifandirana.
22 the words of a tattler, are dainties, they, therefore go down into the chambers of the inner man.
Ny tenin’ ny mpifosafosa dia toy ny hanim-py ka mikorotsaka ao anaty kibo indrindra.
23 Dross silver overlaid upon earthenware, so are burning lips, with a mischievous heart:
Tavim-bilany misy ankosotra taim-bolafotsy ny molotra mihatsaravelatsihy sy ny fo ratsy.
24 With his lips, the hater dissembleth, but, within himself, he layeth up deceit:
Ny mpandrafy dia mody ho hafa amin’ ny molony Sady manafim-pitaka ao am-pony;
25 Though he make gracious his voice, do not trust him, for, seven abominations, are in his heart:
Koa na dia miteny soa aza izy, aza mino azy; Fa fahavetavetana fito no ao am-pony.
26 Hatred may clothe itself with guile, his wickedness shall be disclosed in the convocation.
Ny lolompo dia miafina ao amin’ ny fitaka; Nefa ny haratsiany dia haharihary eo am-pahibemaso.
27 He that diggeth a pit, thereinto, shall fall, and, he that rolleth a stone, upon himself, shall it return.
Izay mihady lavaka no ho latsaka ao, Ary izay manakodiadia vato no hikodiavany kosa.
28 A false tongue, hateth them who are crushed by it, and, a flattering mouth, worketh occasion of stumbling.
Halan’ ny lela mandainga izay efa nampahoriny, Ary ny vava mandrobo dia mampidi-doza.
