< Proverbs 21 >
1 [Like] channels of water, is the heart of a king, in the hand of Yahweh, —whithersoever he will, he turneth it.
Ngoro ya mũthamaki ĩrĩ moko-inĩ ma Jehova; amĩroragia o kũrĩa ekwenda, o ta ũrĩa maaĩ moinithagĩrio mĩtaro-inĩ.
2 Every way of a man, may be right in his own eyes, but, he that testeth hearts, is Yahweh.
Mũndũ oonaga mĩthiĩre yake yothe ĩrĩ mĩega, no Jehova athimaga ngoro.
3 To do righteousness and justice, is more choice to Yahweh than sacrifice.
Gwĩka ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire na ũrĩa ũrĩ kĩhooto nĩ gwĩtĩkagĩrwo nĩ Jehova gũkĩra kũruta igongona.
4 Loftiness of eyes, and ambition of heart—the lamp of the lawless, are sin.
Maitho ma mwĩtũũgĩrio na ngoro ya mwĩtĩĩo, o icio tawa wa arĩa aaganu-rĩ, nĩ mehia!
5 The plans of the diligent, tend only to abundance, but, of every one that is urgent, only to want.
Mĩbango ya arĩa marĩ kĩyo nĩĩrehaga uumithio, o ta ũrĩa ti-itherũ ihenya inene rĩrehaga ũthĩĩni.
6 The gaining of treasures with a tongue of falsehood, is a vapour driven away, [they who seek them] seek death,
Kũgĩa na ũtonga na njĩra ya rũrĩmĩ rwa maheeni nĩ kĩbii gĩa gũthira, na nĩ mũtego wa gĩkuũ.
7 The violence of the lawless, shall drag them away, —because they have refused to do justice.
Haaro ya andũ arĩa aaganu ĩkaamakururia, ĩmeherie, nĩgũkorwo nĩmaregaga gwĩka ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire.
8 Crooked is the way of a guilty man, but, as for the pure, straight is his dealing.
Njĩra ya mũndũ mũhĩtia nĩ njogomu, no mĩthiĩre ya mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarĩ mahĩtia nĩ mĩrũngarũ.
9 Better to dwell on the corner of the roof, than a quarrelsome wife, and a house in common.
Nĩ kaba gũtũũra nyũmba-igũrũ, koine-inĩ, gũkĩra gũtũũra nyũmba thĩinĩ na mũtumia wa haaro.
10 The soul of the lawless man, craveth mischief, his own friend, findeth no favour in his eyes.
Mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu eriragĩria gwĩka o ũũru; ndaiguuagĩra mũndũ wa itũũra rĩake tha.
11 When the scoffer is punished, the simple, becometh wise, when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mũnyũrũrania aaherithio, arĩa maagĩte ũũgĩ nĩmohĩgaga; hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mũndũ mũũgĩ aataarwo nĩagĩĩaga na ũmenyo.
12 The Righteous One observeth the house of the lawless, —He is ready to cast down lawless men into misfortune.
Ũrĩa Mũthingu, o we Ngai, nĩonaga nyũmba ya ũrĩa mwaganu, na akarehithĩria ũcio mwaganu mwanangĩko.
13 He that shutteth his ear from the cry of the poor, even he, shall call, and not be answered.
Mũndũ angĩhinga matũ ndakaigue kĩrĩro kĩa arĩa athĩĩni-rĩ, o nake agaakaya na ndone wa kũmwĩtĩka.
14 A gift in secret, quencheth anger, and, a present in the bosom, mighty wrath.
Kĩheo kĩheanĩtwo na hitho nĩkĩhooreragia marakara, na ihaki ihithe nguo-inĩ rĩhooreragia mangʼũrĩ manene.
15 It is a joy, to a righteous man, to do justice, but, dismay, to the workers of iniquity.
Ituĩro rĩa kĩhooto rĩatuuo, rĩrehaga gĩkeno kũrĩ andũ arĩa athingu, no rĩrehaga kĩmako kũrĩ arĩa mekaga ũũru.
16 The man who wandereth from the way of discretion, in the gathered host of the shades, shall settle down.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũtiganaga na njĩra ya ũũgĩ, akaahurũkĩra kĩũngano-inĩ kĩa arĩa akuũ.
17 A needy man, shall he be that loveth merriment, the lover of wine and oil, shall not become rich.
Mũndũ ũrĩa mwendi ikeno nĩagathĩĩna; ũrĩa wothe mwendi ndibei na maguta-rĩ, gũtirĩ hĩndĩ agaatonga.
18 A ransom for the righteous, is the lawless, and, instead of upright men, the traitor.
Mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu atuĩkaga irĩhi rĩa gũkũũra ũrĩa mũthingu, na ũrĩa ũtarĩ mwĩhokeku agatuĩka irĩhi rĩa gũkũũra ũrĩa mũrũngĩrĩru.
19 Better to dwell in a desert land, than with a woman, quarrelsome and provoking.
Nĩ kaba gũtũũra werũ-inĩ, gũkĩra gũtũũra na mũtumia wa haaro na kũrakara narua.
20 Desirable treasure and oil, are in the home of the wise, but, a man who is a dullard, will destroy it.
Thĩinĩ wa nyũmba ya mũndũ mũũgĩ nĩ kũrĩ mĩthemba yothe ya irio njega o na maguta, no mũndũ mũkĩĩgu arĩĩaga kĩrĩa gĩothe arĩ nakĩo.
21 He that pursueth righteousness and lovingkindness, shall find life, righteousness and honour.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũthingataga ũthingu na wendani nĩagĩĩaga na muoyo, na ũgaacĩru, na gĩtĩĩo.
22 A city of heroes, doth a wise man scale, and bringeth down the strength of its confidence.
Mũndũ mũũgĩ atharĩkagĩra itũũra inene rĩa andũ arĩa njamba, na akamomora kĩĩhitho kĩa hinya kĩrĩa mehokete.
23 He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth, out of distresses, his soul.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũmenyagĩrĩra kanua gake na rũrĩmĩ rwake nĩeyeheragia mũtino-inĩ.
24 A haughty insolent one—Scoffer is his name, is he that acteth in a transport of pride.
Mũndũ mwĩtĩĩi na mwĩgereri, etagwo “Mũnyũrũria”; ekaga maũndũ make na mwĩtĩĩo mũnene.
25 The craving of the sluggard, killeth him, for his hands have refused to work.
Merirĩria ma mũndũ kĩgũũta nĩmo makaamũũraga, tondũ moko make matiendaga kũruta wĩra.
26 All the day, he greatly craveth, whereas, the righteous, giveth, and doth not spare.
Mũthenya wothe eriragĩria o makĩria, no arĩa athingu maheanaga mategũtara.
27 The sacrifice of the lawless, is an abomination, how much more, when, with wickedness, he bringeth it in!
Igongona rĩa mũndũ mwaganu nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi: ĩ rĩtikĩrĩ magigi makĩria hĩndĩ ĩrĩa rĩrehetwo na ũhinga ngoro-inĩ!
28 A false witness, shall perish, but, the man who hearkeneth, with abiding effect, shall speak.
Mũira wa maheeni nĩgũthira agaathira, nake ũrĩa ũmũthikagĩrĩria akaanangwo nginya tene.
29 A lawless man emboldeneth his face, but, as for the upright, he, directeth his ways.
Mũndũ mwaganu erũagĩrĩra na ũrũme, no mũndũ mũrũngĩrĩru nĩeciiragia ũhoro wa mĩthiĩre yake.
30 There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel, to confront Yahweh.
Gũtirĩ ũũgĩ, kana ũmenyi, kana kĩrĩra o na kĩrĩkũ kĩngĩhota gũũkĩrĩra Jehova.
31 The horse, is prepared for the day of battle, but, to Yahweh, pertaineth the victory.
Mbarathi nĩĩharagĩrio nĩ ũndũ wa mũthenya wa mbaara, no ũhootani uumaga kũrĩ Jehova.
