< Proverbs 1 >
1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
Soakas lal Solomon, wen natul David ac tokosra lun Israel.
2 For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
Soakas uh ma ac ku in kasrekom in ku in akilen lalmwetmet ac kas in kasru wowo, oayapa in kalem ke kas na loal kalmac.
3 For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
Ku in luti kom ke moul in etauk, tuh moul lom in pwaye, suwohs, ac fal.
4 For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
Ku in sang etauk nu sin sie mwet srik etu la, ac luti mwet fusr in pah in nunak.
5 A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
Soakas inge ku pac in akyokyelik etauk lun mwet lalmwetmet, ac sang inkanek pwaye nu sin mwet etauk
6 By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
tuh elos in ku in etu kalmac lukma lun soakas, ac kalmen pupulyuk lun mwet lalmwetmet.
7 The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
Sangeng sin LEUM GOD pa mutaweyen etauk. Mwet lalfon uh pilesru lalmwetmet, ac srunga suk etauk.
8 Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
Tulik nutik, lohng kas in luti lun papa tomom ac nina kiom.
9 For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
Mwe luti lalos uh ac mwe nawu moul lom oana sie mwe yun nu fin sifom, ku sie mwe walwal nu inkwawom.
10 My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
Tulik nutik, mwet koluk fin kwafe kom, nik kom wi.
11 If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
Elos fin fahk, “Fahsru kut som kasriki sie mwet ah, ku kutu mwet wangin mwata, ac uniya mwe na pwar.
12 Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol )
Sahp pacl se kut ac sonolos elos ac moul na fokoko, tusruktu pacl se kut tari selos elos ac misa! (Sheol )
13 All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
Kut ac konauk mwe kasrup pus ac nwakla lohm sesr ke ma kut pisrala.
14 Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
Fahsru wi kut. Kut ac kitalik ma nukewa in oana sie nu sesr kewa.”
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
Tulik nutik, nimet wi mwet ouinge uh. Fahla lukelos.
16 For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
Elos rarala in oru ma koluk. Elos akola pacl nukewa in akmas.
17 Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
Tia wo in akoo sie sruhf, ke won se ma kom ke sruokya uh el tu na liye,
18 Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
mweyen mwet oru ouinge uh sifacna akoo mwe kwasrip nu selos, sie mwe kwasrip ma elos ac misa kac.
19 Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
Pacl nukewa, pisrapasr uh ac eisla moul lun mwet rapku — pa inge ma ac sikyak nu sin kutena mwet su moulkin moul sulallal.
20 Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
Porongo! Lalmwetmet el pang inkanek uh ac in iwen kuka uh.
21 At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
El wowoyak ke mutunoa in siti uh, ac in acn nukewa mwet uh tukeni we:
22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
“Mwet lalfon, kowos ac lungse in lalfon putaka? Kowos ac pwarkin in aksruksruki etauk uh nwe ngac? Ya kowos ac tiana lutlut in etu mau?
23 Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
Lohng ke pacl nga kai kowos. Nga ac sot kas in kasru wo ac oayapa etauk luk nu suwos.
24 Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
Nga tuh pangon kowos ac suli kowos in tuku, a kowos tia lungse lohng. Kowos likinsaiyu.
25 But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
Kowos pilesru kas in kasru luk nukewa, ac tia lungse nga in aksuwosye kowos.
26 I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
Ouinge ke pacl kowos ac sun ongoiya, nga fah isrun kowos. Nga ac fah aksruksruki kowos ke pacl mwe aksangeng uh sikyak —
27 When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
pacl se ac tuku nu fowos oana paka, ac use mwe ongoiya oana sie eng na upa, ac kowos muta in keok ac waiok.
28 Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
Na kowos ac fah pang nu ke lalmwetmet, tuh nga ac tia topuk. Kowos ac sukyu yen nukewa, tuh kowos ac tia ku in koneyuyak.
29 Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
Wanginna pacl kowos lohang nu ke etauk, ac pacl nukewa kowos srunga akos LEUM GOD.
30 Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
Kowos tiana lungse eis kas in kasru luk, ku porongo pacl nga aksuwosye kowos uh.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
Ke ma inge, kowos ac fah kosrani fal nu ke orekma lowos, ac pwapa koluk lowos ac tingilkowosi ac pwanang kowos maskin.
32 For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
Mwet selalkung uh misa ke sripen elos pilesru lalmwetmet. Mwet lalfon uh kunausyukla ke nunak in aksrikyaten lalos.
33 Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
Tusruktu, kutena mwet su lohngyu fah muta in misla. Moul lal ac fah wo, ac el ac fah tia enenu in sangeng ke kutena ma.”
