< Obadiah 1 >
1 The vision of Obadiah, —Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, concerning Edom—A rumour, have we heard from Yahweh, and, a herald, throughout the nations, hath been sent, Up! and let us rise against her to war.
Anisoadehunu a Awurade Onyankopɔn daa no adi faa Edom asase ho kyerɛɛ Obadia nie: Yɛate asɛm a ɛfiri Awurade nkyɛn. Wɔsomaa ɔnanmusini bi kɔɔ aman so kɔkaa sɛ, “Monsɔre na momma yɛnkɔko ntia Edom.”
2 Lo! small, have I made thee, among the nations—Despised art thou exceedingly!
Awurade ka kyerɛ Edom sɛ: “Hwɛ mɛbrɛ wo ase, mɛyɛ wo akumaa wɔ aman no mu, na wɔabu wo animtia.
3 The insolence of thy heart, hath deceived thee, O thou that inhabitest the retreats of the crag, the height of his habitation, —that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
Wayɛ ahantan adaadaa wo ho, Wo a wote abotan ntokuro mu na wayɛ wʼatenaeɛ wɔ mmepɔ so, na woka kyerɛ wo ho sɛ, ‘Hwan na ɔbɛtumi ayi me asi fam?’
4 Though thou build high like an eagle, and though, among the stars, thou set thy nest, from thence, will I bring thee down, Declareth Yahweh.
Sɛ wotu kɔ ewiem sɛ akɔdeɛ, na woyɛ wo pirebuo wɔ nsoromma ntam mpo a, ɛhɔ na mɛba abɛtwe wo adwera fam.” Sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie.
5 If, thieves, had come to thee, if robbers by night—how ruined thou art! Would they not have stolen what sufficed them? If, grape-gatherers, had come to thee, Would they not have left gleanings?
“Sɛ akorɔmfoɔ ba wo so a, anaa adwotwafoɔ ba wo so anadwo a, atoyerɛnkyɛm bɛn na ɛrento wo? Na wɔrenwia wo nneɛma dodoɔ a wɔpɛ anaa? Sɛ bobe abatefoɔ ba wo so a, ɛnyɛ bobe aba kakra bi pɛ na wɔbɛgya wo anaa?
6 How have the things of Esau been searched out! his treasures been sought up!
Na wo Esau deɛ wɔbɛwia wʼademudeɛ a wode asie na wɔayɛ wo dosodoso.
7 Up to the boundary, have they sent thee—All thy covenant men, they have deceived thee, prevailed against thee—the men thou wast wont to salute, —The partakers of thy bread, have put a net under thee—No understanding in him!
Wɔn a wo ne wɔn wɔ nkabom nyinaa bɛdi wo hwammɔ. Wɔn a wʼadwene yɛ wo sɛ wo ne wɔn te asomdwoeɛ mu no bɛdaadaa wo adi wo so, wɔn a wɔdi wʼaduane no asum wo afidie, nanso, wonhunuiɛ.
8 Shall it not be, in that day, Demandeth Yahweh, —That I will destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of Mount Esau?
“Saa ɛda no,” Awurade na ɔseɛ, “Merensɛe anyansafoɔ a ɛwɔ Edom anaa, mmarima a wɔte asɛm ase a wɔwɔ Esau mmepɔ so anaa?
9 So shall thy mighty men, O Teman, be dismayed, —to the intent that every man, may be cut off, out of Mount Esau, by slaughter.
Ao Teman wʼakofoɔ bɛbɔ hu ne obiara a ɔwɔ Esau bepɔ so no, wɔbɛtwitwa mo atɔre mo ase.
10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob, shall shame, cover thee, —so shalt thou be cut off, to times age-abiding.
Esiane basabasayɛ a woyɛ tiaa wo nua Yakob no enti aniwuo bɛka wo, na wɔbɛsɛe wo koraa.
11 In the day when thou didst take thy stand over against him, in the day when foreigners took captive his forces, —and, aliens, entered his gates, and, over Jerusalem, cast lots, even thou, wast like one of them!
Ɛda a wogyinaa ntentenso hwɛɛ no haa, na ananafoɔ faa nʼahonyadeɛ kɔeɛ na ahɔhoɔ hyɛnee ne kuro apono mu, na wɔbɔɔ Yerusalem so ntonto no, na wote sɛ wɔn mu baako.
12 Do not, then, look with satisfaction upon the day of thy brother, upon the day of his calamity, Neither rejoice over the sons of Judah—in the day of their ruin, —nor enlarge thy mouth—in the day of distress:
Anka ɛnsɛ sɛ wobu wo nua animtiaa ɛberɛ a ɔwɔ asaneɛ mu, anaa sɛ wodi ahurisie wɔ Yudafoɔ so ɛberɛ a wɔwɔ ɔsɛeɛ mu, na mpo wohoahoa wo ho ɛberɛ a wɔwɔ ahohiahia mu no.
13 Do not enter into the gate of my people—in the day of their misfortune, Do not, thou also, look with satisfaction on his misery—in the day of his misfortune; neither do thou thrust [thy hands] on his substance—in the day of his misfortune;
Anka ɛnsɛ sɛ wode nsrabɔ hyɛne me nkurɔfoɔ kuro apono no mu wɔ wɔn amanehunu ɛda, anka ɛnsɛ sɛ wosere wɔ ɛberɛ a wɔwɔ ɔhaw mu. Afei nso anka ɛnsɛ sɛ wode wo nsa to wɔn ahodeɛ so gye wɔ ɛberɛ a wɔwɔ amanehunu mu.
14 Neither do thou stand at the parting of the way, to cut off his fugitives, —neither do thou deliver up his survivors—in the day of distress.
Anka ɛnsɛ sɛ wotɛ wɔn nkwantanan soɔ kunkumm nʼadwanefoɔ Na woyi wɔn a aka no ma wɔ wɔn amanehunu ɛda no mu.
15 For, near, is the day of Yahweh, upon all the nations, —Just as thou hast done, shall it be done to thee, Thy dealing, shall come back upon thine own head.
“Awurade ɛda no abɛn ama amanaman nyinaa. Na hwɛ, Edom sɛdeɛ woyɛeɛ no saa ara na wɔbɛyɛ woɔ. Wo nneyɛeɛ bɛsane abɛgu wo tiriso.
16 For, as ye have drunk on my holy mountain, all the nations shall drink continually, —Yea they shall drink and swallow down, and shall be, as though they had not been.
Sɛdeɛ mononom nsã wɔ me bepɔ kronkron so no, saa ara na amanaman no nyinaa bɛkɔ so anom, saa ara na ɛbɛkɔ so ɛda biara na wɔbɛyɛ te sɛ deɛ wonni hɔ.
17 But, in Mount Zion, shall be a delivered remnant which shall be holy, —and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions;
Na ɔgyeɛ bɛba Sion bepɔ so na ɛbɛyɛ kronkron beaeɛ, na Yakob efie nsa bɛsane aka nʼagyapadeɛ.
18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, with the house of Esau for stubble, So shall they kindle upon them, and devour them, —and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau, for, Yahweh, hath spoken.
Yakob efie bɛyɛ ogya na Yosef efie ayɛ ogyaframa; Esau efie deɛ ɛbɛyɛ adehunu bi na wɔde ogya bɛto mu ahye no a obiara renka wɔ efie hɔ.” Deɛ Awurade seɛ nie.
19 Then shall they of the South possess Mount Esau, and they of the Lowlands, the Philistines, and they [of the Mountain] shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria, —and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead;
Nkurɔfoɔ a wɔfiri Negeb no bɛtena Esau mmepɔ so, Na wɔn a wɔfiri nkokoɔ no ase no, bɛfa Filistia asase no, na wɔbɛfa Efraim ne Samaria mfuo atena so, na Benyamin nso afa Gilead.
20 And, they of the captivity of this force pertaining to the sons of Israel, [shall possess] that of the Canaanites, up to Zarephath, and, they of the captivity of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.
Nipakuo a wɔyɛ Israel atukɔfoɔ bɛfa Kanaan asase no akɔsi Sarefat; na atukɔfoɔ a wɔfiri Yerusalem a wɔte Safarad no bɛfa Negeb nkuro no adi so.
21 And saviours shall come up in Mount Zion, to judge the mountain of Esau, —So shall the kingdom, belong unto Yahweh.
Agyefoɔ bɛkɔ Sion bepɔ so, akɔdi Edom mmepɔ so. Na ahennie no bɛyɛ Awurade dea!
