Numbers 4
1 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron saying:
Jahweh sprak tot Moses en Aäron:
2 Reckon up the sum of the sons of Kohath, out of the midst of the sons of Levi, —by their families by their ancestral house:
Neemt van de Levieten het volledig getal der Kehatieten op naar hun geslachten en families,
3 from thirty years old, and upwards, even unto fifty years, —every one that can enter into the host, to do service in the tent of meeting.
van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe, en wel iedereen die in staat is om dienst te verrichten bij de openbaringstent.
4 This, shall be the labour of the sons of Kohath, in the tent of meeting, —the most holy things,
De taak der Kehatieten in de openbaringstent strekt zich tot het hoogheilige uit.
5 So then Aaron and his sons shall enter when the camp is to set forward, and take down the screening veil, —and enwrap therein the ark of the testimony;
Wanneer het kamp wordt opgebroken, moeten Aäron en zijn zonen naar binnen gaan, het voorhangsel afnemen en de ark des Verbonds er mee bedekken;
6 and put thereon a covering of badgers’ skin, and spread a complete wrapper of blue over above, —and put in the staves thereof.
daaroverheen moeten zij een dek van gelooide huiden leggen, daarover nog een geheel violet kleed uitspreiden, en er de draagstokken aan zetten.
7 And over the Presence-table, shall they spread a wrapper of blue and put thereon the dishes and the pans and the bowls and the libation cups, the perpetual bread also, thereupon, shall remain;
Ook over de tafel van de toonbroden moeten zij een violet kleed spreiden, en daarop de schotels, pannen, schalen en bekers voor de plengoffers plaatsen, terwijl ook het bestendig brood daarop moet liggen;
8 and they shall spread over them a wrapper of crimson, and cover the same with a covering of badgers’ skin, —and shall put in the staves thereof.
daaroverheen moeten zij een karmozijnen kleed spreiden, het met een dekkleed van gelooide huiden bedekken, en er de draagstokken aan zetten.
9 Then shall they take a wrapper of blue, and cover the light-giving lampstand, and the lamps thereof, and the snuffers thereof and the snuff-trays thereof, —and all the oil-vessels, thereof, wherewith they minister thereunto;
Dan moeten zij een violet kleed nemen, de kandelaar er mee bedekken met zijn lampen, snuiters, tangen, bakjes en alle vaatwerk voor de olie, waarmee zij hem verzorgen,
10 and shall put the same and all the vessels thereof, within a covering of, badgers’ skin, —and shall put it upon a frame.
hem met al zijn benodigdheden in een dekkleed van gelooide huiden wikkelen, en op een draagbaar zetten.
11 And upon the altar of gold, shall they spread a wrapper of blue, and shall cover the same in a covering of badgers’ skin, —and shall put in the staves thereof,
Ook over het gouden altaar moeten zij een violet kleed spreiden, het met een dekkleed van gelooide huiden bedekken, en er de draagstokken aan zetten.
12 And they shall take all the utensils of attendance wherewith they attend in the sanctuary, and put them within a wrapper of blue, and cover the same in a covering of badgers’ skin, —and put them on a frame.
Daarna moeten zij alle benodigdheden nemen, waarmee zij de dienst in het heiligdom verrichten, op een violet kleed zetten, ze bedekken met een dekkleed van gelooide huiden, en op een draagbaar zetten.
13 Then shall they remove the fat-ashes from the altar, —and spread over it a wrapper of purple;
Vervolgens moeten zij het altaar van as reinigen, en er een purperen kleed over heen spreiden;
14 and put thereupon all the utensils thereof wherewith they minister thereupon—the fire-pans, the flesh-hooks—and the shovels and the tossing-bowls, all the utensils of the altar, —and shall spread over it a covering of badgers’ skin and put in the staves thereof.
daarop alle benodigdheden plaatsen, waarmee zij de dienst aan het altaar verrichten, de vuurpotten, vorken, schoppen, offerschalen, en alle vaatwerk van het altaar; daaroverheen een dekkleed van gelooide huiden spreiden, en er de draagstokken aan zetten.
15 So shall Aaron and his sons make an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the utensils of the sanctuary, when the camp is to set forward, then after that, shall the sons of Kohath enter to bear it, but they must not put forth a touch unto that which, is holy, else should they die, these, shall be the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of meeting.
Eerst wanneer bij het opbreken van het kamp Aäron en zijn zonen gereed zijn gekomen met het bedekken van de heilige zaken en al wat daartoe behoort, mogen de Kehatieten binnen komen, om ze te vervoeren. Zij mogen de heilige zaken niet aanraken; anders zouden zij sterven. Dit is het gedeelte van de openbaringstent, dat door de Kehatieten moet worden gedragen.
16 But the care of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, [shall be] —the light-giving oil, and the fragrant incense, and the perpetual meal-offering, and the anointing oil, the care of all the habitation, and all that is therein, both as to the sanctuary, and as to the furniture thereof.
Bovendien moet Elazar, de zoon van den priester Aäron, zorg dragen voor de olie van de kandelaar, de wierook, het altijddurend spijsoffer en de zalfolie; hij heeft dus de zorg voor heel de tabernakel en alles wat daarin is, voor de heilige zaken en haar toebehoren.
17 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:
En Jahweh sprak tot Moses en Aäron:
18 Do not let the tribe of the families of the Kohathites be cut off out of the midst of the Levites.
Zorgt er voor, dat de tak van het Kehatietengeslacht niet uit de kring der Levieten wordt uitgeroeid.
19 This, therefore, do ye for them, so shall they live and not die when they approach the most holy place, —Aaron and his sons shall enter and set them man by man over his labour, and unto his burden;
Doet dus voor hen als volgt, opdat zij leven en niet sterven, wanneer zij het hoogheilige naderen. Aäron en zijn zonen moeten naar binnen gaan, en ieder van hen aanwijzen, wat hij te doen heeft, en wat hij moet dragen.
20 but they shall not enter to see, for a moment, that which is holy, else should they die.
Zelf mogen zij niet binnengaan, om zelfs maar een ogenblik de heilige zaken te zien; anders zouden zij sterven.
21 Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
Jahweh sprak tot Moses:
22 reckon up the sum of the sons of Gershon even of them also, —by their ancestral house by their families;
Neem ook het volledig getal van de Gersjonieten op naar hun families en hun geslachten;
23 from thirty years old and upwards even to fifty years, shalt thou number them, —All that may enter to take rank in the host, to do laborious work in the tent of meeting.
van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe moet gij allen inschrijven, die in staat zijn dienst te verrichten bij de openbaringstent.
24 This, shall be the labour of the families of the Gershonites, —in labouring and in bearing:
Dit zal de taak zijn van het geslacht der Gersjonieten bij de dienst en bij het vervoer.
25 they shall bear the curtains of the habitation and the tent of meeting, the covering thereof and the covering of badgers’ skin which is over above it, —and the screen, at the entrance of the tent of meeting;
Zij moeten de tentdoeken van de tabernakel dragen, de openbaringstent, haar dekkleden, de bedekking van gelooide huiden, die daaroverheen ligt, het tapijt voor de ingang van de openbaringstent,
26 and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the entrance of the gate of the court which is near the habitation and near the altar round about, and their cords, and all their articles of service, and all that is to be done to them when they shall do their labour,
de gordijnen van de voorhof en het tapijt bij de ingang der poort van de voorhof, die rond de tabernakel en het altaar ligt, en de touwen met alle benodigdheden voor het werk; alles wat daarmee moet gebeuren, zullen zij verrichten.
27 At the bidding of Aaron and his sons, shall be all the labour of the sons of the Gershonites, to the extent of their every burden, and to the extent of all their labour, —so shall ye appoint unto them in charge their every burden.
Al het werk van de zonen der Gersjonieten moet steeds op aanwijzing van Aäron en zijn zonen geschieden, zowel bij het vervoer, als bij de dienst; al wat ze hebben te dragen, moet ge hun stuk voor stuk aanwijzen.
28 This, shall be the labour of the families of the sons of the Gershonites in the tent of meeting, —and, the charge of them, shall be in the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest.
Dit zal de taak van het geslacht van de zonen der Gersjonieten zijn bij de openbaringstent, en hun werkzaamheden zullen onder leiding staan van Itamar, den zoon van den priester Aäron.
29 As for the sons of Merari, —by their families by their ancestral house, shall ye number them;
Ook de Merarieten moet ge inschrijven naar hun geslachten en families.
30 from thirty years old and upwards even to fifty years, shall ye number them, —all that enter into the host, to do laborious work in the tent of meeting,
Van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe moet ge allen inschrijven, die in staat zijn, dienst te verrichten bij de openbaringstent.
31 And, this, shall be their charge of the burdens, to the extent of all their labour in the tent of meeting, the boards of the habitation, and the bars thereof and he pillars thereof and the sockets thereof:
Dit zal hun taak zijn bij het vervoer en de werkzaamheden aan de openbaringstent: de schotten van de tabernakel met de bindlatten, de palen met hun voetstukken,
32 and the pillars of the court round about and their sockets and their pins and their cords, to the extent of all their articles, to the extent of all their labour, and by names, shall ye put under their care the articles of their charge of burdens.
de palen van de voorhof rondom met hun voetstukken, pinnen en touwen, met wat er verder toe behoort en al de werkzaamheden daaraan verbonden; stuk voor stuk moet ge hun aanwijzen, wat ze hebben te dragen.
33 This, shall be the labour of the families of the sons of Merari, to the extent of all their labour in the tent of meeting, —in the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron, the priest.
Dit zal de taak zijn van het geslacht der Merarieten, en al hun werkzaamheden aan de openbaringstent zullen onder leiding staan van Itamar, den zoon van den priester Aäron.
34 Then did Moses and Aaron, and the princes of the assembly, number the sons of the Kohathites, by their families, and by their ancestral house;
Daarna schreven Moses, Aäron en de leiders der gemeenschap alle zonen der Kehatieten in naar hun geslachten en families,
35 from thirty years old and upwards, even unto fifty years old, all that might enter the host, to labour in the tent of meeting;
van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe, die geschikt waren om de dienst bij de openbaringstent te verrichten.
36 and they who were numbered of them, by their families, were found to be two thousand, seven hundred and fifty.
Naar hun geslachten geteld, bedroeg hun aantal tweeduizend zevenhonderd vijftig man.
37 These, were they who were num-bered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might labour in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron did number, at the bidding of Yahweh by the mediation of Moses.
Dit waren alle ingeschrevenen der Kehatietengeslachten, die dienst moesten doen bij de openbaringstent, en die Moses en Aäron hadden ingeschreven, zoals Jahweh het door Moses bevolen had.
38 And they who were numbered of the sons of Gershon, —by their families, and by their ancestral house;
Alle ingeschrevenen van de Gersjonieten naar hun geslachten en families,
39 from thirty years old and upwards, even to fifty years old, all that might enter the host, to labour in the tent of meeting:
van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe, die geschikt waren om dienst te verrichten bij de openbaringstent,
40 yea they who were numbered of them, by their families, by their ancestral house, —were found to be—two thousand, and six hundred, and thirty.
bedroegen tweeduizend zeshonderd dertig man, naar hun geslachten en families geteld.
41 These, are they who were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, all who might labour in the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron did number, at the bidding of Yahweh.
Dit waren alle gemonsterden van de Gersjonietengeslachten, die dienst moesten doen bij de openbaringstent, en die Moses en Aäron hadden ingeschreven, zoals Jahweh het door Moses bevolen had.
42 And they who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, by their families by their ancestral house;
Alle ingeschrevenen van de Merarietengeslachten naar hun geslachten en families,
43 from thirty years old and upwards, even unto fifty years old, —all that might enter the host to labour in the tent of meeting;
van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe, die geschikt waren om dienst te verrichten bij de openbaringstent,
44 yea they who were numbered of them, by their families, were found to be—three thousand and two hundred.
bedroegen drieduizend tweehonderd man, naar hun geslachten geteld.
45 These, are they who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, —whom Moses and Aaron did number, at the bidding of Yahweh, by the mediation of Moses.
Dit waren de ingeschrevenen van de Merarietengeslachten, die Moses en Aäron hadden ingeschreven, zoals Jahweh het door Moses bevolen had.
46 All they who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel did number, even the Levites, by their families and by their ancestral house;
Alle ingeschreven Levieten, die Moses en Aäron met de leiders van Israël naar hun geslachten en families hadden ingeschreven,
47 from thirty years old and upwards, even unto fifty years old, all that might enter, to toil in the work of labouring and in the work of bearing burdens, in the tent of meeting,
van dertig jaar af tot vijftig jaar toe, en die geschikt waren voor het dienstwerk, en het vervoer van de openbaringstent,
48 yea, they who were numbered of them were found to be—eight thousand, and five hundred, and eighty.
telden achtduizend vijfhonderd tachtig man.
49 At the bidding of Yahweh, were they put in charge by the mediation of Moses, man by man, over his labour and over his burden, —yea, they who were put in charge by him, were they, whom Yahweh commanded Moses.
Zoals Jahweh het door Moses bevolen had, gaf men ieder zijn taak voor de dienst en het vervoer, en werden zij ingeschreven, zoals Jahweh het Moses bevolen had.
